Abstract: A dust gap spacer is provided for use along a baseboard at the foot of a wall where the wall intersects a floor. The spacer is installed prior to the installation of wall to wall carpeting. The dust gap spacer is of a uniform L-shaped cross section throughout and is formed with a raised shoulder adapted to reside at the foot of a wall and a ledge in contact with the floor and extending away from the wall and from the shoulder at a height lower than the shoulder. A tack strip is located atop the ledge and the peripheral margin of the carpeting resides atop the tack strip and in abutment against the shoulder. The dust gap spacer permits an upright vacuum cleaner to clean the entire carpeting, including the peripheral margin thereof, and provides a decorative trim strip surrounding the carpeting at the base of the wall. The dust gap spacer eliminates an unsightly dirty marginal border around the carpeting.

  • Patent number: 4222197
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for forming borders and the like around garden areas, the apparatus comprising cardboard sheets having scribed thereon three bending folds, each bending fold extending longitudinally along the surface of the cardboard sheet. More specifically a center fold bisects longitudinally elongate rectangular cardboard pieces, the center fold having formed laterally adjacent thereto two side folds. In use the cardboard piece is bent to form a V-section with the side folds being bent over to form vertical surfaces on either edge of the "V". These surfaces are then joined by various fastening devices and the cardboard structure is inserted into the ground and filled with cement or precast concrete blocks.

  • Patent number: 4202145
Abstract: This invention relates to a quickly assembled prefabricated metal concrete pouring form for slabs and the like that remains in place as an integral part of the finished structure. The basic elements of the structure are exterior wall sections with each containing a series of vertically-aligned pairs of slots arranged in parallel horizontal rows throughout the length thereof and which can be telescoped into overlapping relation to place selected pairs of these slots in registry with one another to receive the hook-forming elements of one or more types of connectors that lock the sections together in freestanding assembled condition. Two of these connectors, namely, a ground stake and a detachable endpiece of a spreader subassembly both include a vertically-spaced pair of downturned hook-forming elements to effect the locking action while the corner sections employ horizontally-spaced pairs of horizontally-disposed tongues for this same purpose.

  • Patent number: 4129743
Abstract: A terminal box used with underground electrical conductors is formed of opposed channels and a top cap with depending sidewalls. Air is permitted to flow to the interior of the housing via a filter beneath the cap, this filter being resistant to the passage of dust, water, blowing snow and insects. A weathertight seal is provided between the opposed channels by a resilient sealing strip and overlapping vertical marginal portions; and, upward access by animals and ground moisture to the interior of the housing is deterred by a continuous barrier sheet which extends transversely across the housing and is sealed thereto.Corrosion damage to the housing is minimized by connecting it electrically to a buried plate formed of a metal which is anodic in the EMF series with respect to the housing metal. Grass fire and lawnmower-impact damage is reduced by surrounding the terminal box at ground level by a vegetation-inhibiting sheet.

  • Patent number: 4074479
Abstract: An open bottomed trapezoidal box having horizontally outwardly extending flanges at the free edges is provided at intervals with clips which join the horizontal flanges and which join successive lengths of the linear open box sections. The linear sections may be straight, curved on one or more radii, or angular, for flexibility in forming any outline. Alternate embodiments of the clip are shown. The clip may be used in straight lengths whether the sections are curved, angular, or straight.

  • Patent number: 4031676
Abstract: A water blocking device mainly for the use on the interior of buildings and the like, but also usable outside thereof comprises a triangular-shaped structure in two shapes which may be interlocked to form small dam-like barriers. The primary structure is straight and formed with tongue and groove ends with one tongue being interlockable with the groove of the adjacent section. The second shape being that of a 45.degree. curve again with the tongue and groove interlocking end portions. On the bottom surface of both type sections, recessed disc portions are provided to form in effect a plurality of miniature suction cups. Thus, when two or more of these structures are interlocked together and appropriately fastened to a smooth surface such as provided by a floor of a building, a quickly removable and interchangeable semi-permanent dam structure will be formed.
