  • Patent number: 5715638
Abstract: A fabric wall panel system which mounts wall panels by means of releasable hanger. The fabric wall panel system includes a wall panel and a hanger. The fabric wall panel comprises a frame and a flat filler insert. The frame comprises a plurality of linear frame members. Each frame member has a spine with an elongated opening, a side edge, and a front edge which together define a groove. The flat filler insert is fitted within the groove of each frame member. Fabric is stretched over the frame and insert and is bonded to the back of each frame member to complete the finished fabric wall panel. The hanger has a flat base and a perpendicularly extending tongue with an enlarged head. A number of hangers are affixed on the wall using an adhesive. The slit on the fabric wall panel is aligned with the tongue of hanger on the wall, and the fabric wall panel is affixed to the wall by pressing the slit over the tongue on the hanger. The fabric wall panels can be prefabricated or installed in situ.

  • Patent number: 5692346
Abstract: An improved retainer element has a mounting section which is connected with a rim portion of a panel. A longitudinally extending main spring section of the retainer element extends from the mounting section. A retainer section of the retainer element is connected with an end of the main spring section opposite from the mounting section. The retainer section includes a retainer flange and a pair of retainer arms which engage opposite sides of the rim portion of the panel. When the panel is moved into position relative to the support frame, a cam surface on the retainer flange engages the support frame and transmits force to deflect the main spring section of the retainer element. The retainer flange then snaps into engagement with the support frame. The retainer arms slide along opposite side surfaces of the rim portion of the panel to guide movement of the main spring section relative to the panel.

  • Patent number: 5638653
Abstract: A system for fitting panels without physical affixing means, especially for covering walls and installing shelves and suspended equipment. The system includes a rack having a main branch and at least one side branch and one bearing branch. The main branch and side branch define a housing in which an elastic bearing piece is removably connected. The bearing piece has a cross section corresponding to the cross section of the housing. The height of the bearing piece is chosen depending on the desired level of the front face of the panel with respect to the rack in its mounted position.

  • Patent number: 5632128
Abstract: A unitary suspension clip for suspending gypsum board panels from the horizontal support member of a vertical support structure. The plate portion of the clip has panel-piercing members projecting rearwardly to affix the plate to the panel. A transverse line of weakness extends substantially across the width of the plate such that when the panel is suspended from the support member, the load applied between the support member and the plate causes the plate to bend therealong to prevent the pulling of the panel-piercing members out of the panel. A wing is formed along the edge of the plate and extends outwardly therefrom with a second line of weakness running in the same direction as the edge of the plate between the wing and the plate.

  • Patent number: 5623801
Abstract: A device for covering an opening in a masonry provided on its surface with tiles or plates comprises a holding member (7) for a permanent magnet (8) which cooperates with a ferromagnetic member provided on the inner side of the cover member covering the opening and provided with tiles or plates. The holding member (7) is provided via a predetermined breaking point (12) with a protrusion with a threaded bolt (6) which can be screwed into the threaded bore (5) of a frame surrounding the opening to be covered. After detaching the protrusion along the predetermined breaking point (12), the holding member (7) can be connected with an anchoring member anchorable in the masonry, which anchoring member comprises a plate-shaped section which can be inserted into a slot (15) of the holding member (7) (FIG. 3).

  • Patent number: 5606832
Abstract: Highly insulating connectors used in making highly insulative composite wall structures. At least a substantial portion of the connector is injection molded in a single step from an appropriate resinous material or moldable plastic. The connector has a substantially pointed end in a penetrating segment for facilitating penetration of the connector through an insulating layer and a yet unhardened structural material, such as concrete, that will harden into a first structural layer. The opposite end, or gripping segment, includes arcuate wings for facilitating gripping of the connector during placement in the insulating layer and first unhardened structural layer, and also for anchoring the connectors upon hardening of a second structural layer. A middle or mesial segment resides within the insulating layer, which is sandwiched between the first and second structural layer.

  • Patent number: 5555689
Abstract: A structural frame is provided comprising opposed ceiling and floor channels and spaced apart, C-shaped metal studs extending vertically between the channels. Each stud has its single central web positioned transversely relative to the main plane of the frame. Pairs of short brackets are suspended from the webs of adjacent studs in opposed and vertically spaced relation. Each bracket comprises a horizontal V-shaped wall having a pair of horizontally extending shoulders and downwardly extending side walls which form vertical end edges at the end of the bracket adjacent the web. A plurality of hooks extends from the end edges. A pattern of vertical slots is formed in the stud web and the bracket hooks extend into these slots and attach to the web. The bracket is sized to fit snugly between the side flange walls of the C-shaped stud, to reinforce these flange walls so that they do not collapse inwardly when loaded.

  • Patent number: 5542225
Abstract: The present invention relates to an anchoring system and method for installing exterior material including lath and mortar to a building structure particularly suited for when the exterior materials are to be placed at a distance from the building structure. The anchoring system utilizes a separator rod having two ends wherein one end is threadingly attached to a nut joint with the other rod end extending from the nut joint. Building paper, insulation and lath may be placed on the building structure, and then a nut joint may be installed, with the other rod end being inserted into an anchoring device anchored to the building structure. The anchoring device has a speed nut which accepts the extending end of the separator rod, allowing the rod to advance into the anchoring device but which inhibits movement of the separator rod out of and away from the anchoring device in a rachet fashion.

  • Patent number: 5522193
Abstract: In a simple and robust panel mounting arrangement support pins project laterally and inwardly from rearwardly projecting flanges at opposed side edges of a panel, and are operatively engaged within angled slots extending rearwardly from front edges of flanges of supports, thereby to support the side edges of the panel. Each slot has a first limb portion which is open at the front edge of the respective flange and extends rearwardly therefrom, and a second limb portion which communicates with the first limb portion of the slot and which entends downwardly to a closed end thereof at which the associated support pin is disposed when the panel is fully mounted on the support.

  • Patent number: 5519973
Abstract: Highly insulating connector rods used in making highly insulative composite wall structures are disclosed. The high R-value connector is injection molded in a single step from an appropriate resinous material or moldable plastic. Discontinuous fibers may be impregnated within the resinous material or other plastic. The connector rod has a pointed end for facilitating entry through an insulating layer and a first structural layer and an enlarged head for receiving an impact from a hammer or mallet. The enlarged head also provides an anchoring effect within a second structural layer. A ridge or flange helps to orient the connector rod when inserted into the insulating material and also helps to prevent the collapse of the second structural layer toward the first structural layer.
