The total amount of volatile co-solvent present in the ink-jet ink can be from 5 wt % to 50 wt %. These ink-jet inks can be printed on traditional as well as non-porous substrates. Optionally, heat can be applied to an image printed with the ink-jet ink to drive off at least a portion of the volatile co-solvent(s).
