Abstract: This invention relates to a UV stabilized transparent acrylic composition. More specifically the acrylic composition is stabilized with a carboxylic acid compound, which prevents or delays deterioration of the acrylic composition from high intensity UV radiation. The carboxylic acid compound is preferably an alpha hydroxylcarboxylic acid compound. The delay or prevention of deterioration results in the transmission of more UV radiation through the acrylic composition for longer periods of time. The composition is especially useful for tanning and other applications requiring transmission of high levels of UV radiation and resistance to discoloration. It is also useful in optical cable, LCD displays, acrylic storage media, and in HID devices.

Abstract: A composition includes a baleable polymer resulting from the polymerization of at least one conjugated diene in the presence of an anionic initiator. The baleable polymer has carboxylate termination resulting from the addition of carbon dioxide to terminate the polymerization reaction. The polymer has Mooney ML1+4 viscosity of >35 and a solution viscosity of X, where X is >75 cP. The addition of an lonolizer to a composition that includes the polymer reduces the solution viscosity of the polymer from X to Y where Y meets the following formula: 0.4X?Y?0.58X. The baleable polymer is blended with impact-modified plastics resulting in improved izod values and optical qualities. Processes for making and utilizing the polymer composition, and ionolizer are also described.

Abstract: The present sprayable decorative coating material is composed of acrylic chips or gel coat chips that are mixed with polyurea and acrylic aqueous resins with special thixotropic material to produce a sprayable decorative coating for a solid surface. The present sprayable decorative coating material may be mixed with acrylic chips or gel coat chips. Different colored chips or mixtures of chips may be used to produce a wide array of finished decorative coating materials. The specific gravity of the resin of the chips is similar to the resin of the present sprayable decorative coating material, thus they are effectively suspended during mixing, spraying, and hardening, and may be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. The present sprayable decorative coating material uses a thixotropic compound that enables the resin mixture to be thin on shear when sprayed out of a low-pressure hopper gun, and the like.
