Patent number: 5539015Abstract: A synthetic resin composition comprises an aqueous medium, a surfactant, and a resin and filler dispersed in the aqueous medium by the surfactant. The surfactant comprises a first high molecular weight compound having a weight-average molecular weight of at least 10000 and a second high molecular weight compound having a weight-average molecular weight of not less than 150 and less than 10000. In the synthetic resin composition, a solid material is well dispersed and the viscosity doesn't remarkably increase even if a solid content is increased. So, the increased amount of a non-volatile matter may be used and the storage stability improves. Further, flame retardation, deodorization, heat resistance and light fastness also improve. In addition, an interior material coated with the synthetic resin composition is provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota Chuo Kenkyusho, Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Toyoda Boshoku Corporation, Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, IncorporatedInventors: Mitsumasa Horii, Masahiro Sugiura, Seiji Onoda, Yoshio Yamada, Osamu Araki, Yoshiro Umemoto, Kazuo Ito, Takatoshi Sekihara, Akihiro Matsuyama, Masaaki Izumichi, Kiyoshi Umehara, Reizaburo Tomioka

Patent number: 5539038Abstract: Provided is an ink jet ink comprised of water, a pigment, a polymeric electrolyte, preferably a sodium, potassium or lithium salt of a polymeric carboxylic acid, a polyhydric alcohol and a stearate, preferably aluminum stearate. The presence of the stearate, particularly in combination with the polymeric electrolyte, provides one with an ink jet ink which upon printing makes a perfectly round dot located only on the surface of the paper. The image also dries very quickly, is of high density and is waterfast. Printing problems are also avoided, such as plugging. The process for preparing the foregoing ink jet ink comprises comminuting a formulation containing the components followed by a separation step. The separation step is important to provide a stable dispersion of the ink formulation.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Rexham Graphics, Inc.Inventors: Boris J. Patent number: 5523117Abstract: A vehicle masking material and method of use. The masking material in one embodiment includes polyvinyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, glycerine or triethylene glycol, a surfactant, and water. The masking material is applied to a surface which is to be protected from paint overspray or other mechanical process, allowed to dry, and paint is applied. After drying of the paint, the masking material is removed by peeling or water washing.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1995Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Assignee: Cal-West Equipment Company, Inc.Inventors: Edward W. Patent number: 5506280Abstract: A modeling dough comprising gelled poly(vinyl alcohol), water and a filler provides a dough resistant to flaking, cracking, and crumbling. In the disclosed invention, the poly(vinyl alcohol) resin is gelled, thereby providing a water-based resin system that is not sticky yet very ductile. Prior to drying, the dough also exhibits the properties of bounceability and the ability to pick up newsprint. After the dough is air-dried, the poly resin serves to bind the components into a solid, durable product. The filler accounts for a large portion of the volume of the dough, so the overall volume is not greatly affected by water loss upon drying. The dough is water-based and easy to wash from skin, carpets, and other surfaces. Dyes and pigments can be easily incorporated into the formula. The dried product is sandable and paintable.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1994Date of Patent: April 9, 1996Assignee: Binney & Smith Inc.Inventors: Richard E. Miller, Karen Mariano
