Abstract: A transparent electric-arc resistant composition is produced by preparing crystalline tungsten bronze nanoparticles and homogenously dispersing the nanoparticles in a transparent plastic matrix. The crystalline tungsten bronze nanoparticles are prepared by homogeneously mixing an aqueous solution of soluble tungsten and cesium salts and then drying the solution. The dried solution is then heated in a reducing gas or inert gas atmosphere to form crystalline tungsten bronze nanoparticles. Thereafter, a dispersion agent is added and the nanoparticles are dispersed in a liquid solvent medium by wet milling to form a dispersion mixture. The dispersion mixture is then mixed with polymer pellets to form a polymer mixture, and the polymer mixture is then extruded to yield polymer pellets containing highly homogeneously dispersed inorganic nanoparticles. During or after dispersion, additional particles, dyes, heat stabilizers or UV absorbers, may be added. A lens or shield is then molded from the polymer pellets.

Abstract: A method of curing a coating composition and a method of forming a cured coating on an automobile component are provided. The coating composition comprises a radical polymerizable compound and an organoborane-amine complex having an organoborane initiator, an amine blocking agent, and water. The method of curing the coating composition comprises the steps of combining the organoborane-amine complex, the radical polymerizable compound, and water to form the coating composition. Carbon dioxide is introduced into the coating composition or into a composition including at least one of the organoborane-amine complex, the radical polymerizable compound, and water prior to forming the coating composition. Carbonic acid is formed in situ within the coating composition through reaction of the water and carbon dioxide. The organoborane-amine complex is decomplexed with the carbonic acid thereby separating the organoborane initiator and the amine blocking agent.

Abstract: An application to a resin material and a polymerization method of a polymerization agent having a polymerizable surface structure and a mechanism of supplying the polymerization agent, the polymerization agent exhibiting a polymerizing function in contact with the surface of the resin material. The resin material is obtained by living radical polymerization of a radical polymerization initiator exhibiting living property and an unsaturated monomer capable of radical polymerization with the polymerization initiator. The polymerization agent is brought into in contact with the surface of the resin material to induce radical re-polymerization of the polymerization agent. As a result, a damaged portion of the resin material can be repaired or the resin materials can be bonded to each other by way of the polymerization agent, which can suppress formation of the hetero-interface or improve the service life of the resin material.
