Abstract: The invention is drawn to silane copolymers prepared from the reaction of one or more polyisocyanates with one or more lubricious polymers having at least two functional groups, which may be the same or different, that are reactive with an isocyanate functional group and with one or more organo-functional silanes having at least two functional groups, which may be the same or different, that are reactive with an isocyanate functional group and at least one functional group reactive with a silicone rubber substrate. The silane copolymers of the invention can be used as coatings that are elastic when dry, lubricious when wet, and resist wet abrasion. These copolymers are useful as coatings for polysiloxane (rubber) and other difficult to coat substrates, especially for medical devices, such as catheters. These silane copolymers can contain active agents such as antimicrobials, pharmaceuticals, herbicides, insecticides, algaecides, antifoulants, and antifogging agents.

Abstract: Described are prepolymer compositions on the basis of novolak cyanates of the general formula wherein n is a number from 0 to 20 and the radicals R are identical or different and represent hydrogen or methyl. The compositions contain: 30 to 90 parts by weight of a prepolymer from novolak cyanates (I) wherein R=hydrogen (Ia) and 10 to 70 parts by weight of novolak cyanates (I) wherein R=methyl (Ib), and optionally highly disperse silicon dioxides and/or particulate or fibrous fillers. The inventive compositions are solid at normal temperature and can be ground to flowable powders. They have excellent stability when stored and are easy to process and especially suitable for use as the resin component in base materials for printed circuits on resin-bound abrasive products.

  • Patent number: 6827982
Abstract: The adhesion of overlying layers to a silicalite-plus-binder dielectric layer is enhanced by forming a layer that includes the binder in a higher concentration. The overlying layer, e.g., silicon dioxide, silicon carbide or silicon nitride, adheres more tightly to the higher-concentration binder layer. Although the presence of the higher-concentration binder layer may increase the dielectric constant of the overall silicalite-plus-binder stack, the increase is generally minimal.
