Abstract: A thermoplastic composition comprises poly(arylene ether) having an initial intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.25 dl/g as measured in chloroform at 25° C.; a polyolefin having a melt temperature greater than or equal to 120° C. and a melt flow rate of 0.3 to 15; a first block copolymer having a aryl alkylene content greater than or equal to 50 weight percent based on the total weight of the first block copolymer; a second block copolymer having an aryl alkylene content less than 50 weight percent based on the total weight of the second block copolymer; and a flame retardant, wherein the poly(arylene ether) is present in an amount greater than the amount of polyolefin. The composition is useful in the production of covered wire.

The polymer electrolyte has a high ionic conductivity at high temperatures without causing deformation of an electrolyte membrane. The polymer electrolyte membrane can be inexpensively and simply manufactured, and the thickness of the membrane can be easily controlled. In addition, a large amount of phosphoric acid can be impregnated into the polymer electrolyte. A fuel cell that is operative at a temperature of 100° C. or higher under non-humidified conditions and has improved energy generating efficiency can be prepared by employing the polymer electrolyte membrane.

Abstract: A formable curable elastomer composition comprising a dispersion of a cured organic elastomer, such as EPDM, butyl rubber and hydrogenated nitrile butyl rubber, is provided in an uncured silicone elastomer. The organic elastomer is cured by a phenol-formaldehyde resin. These compositions can generally be used in applications where silicone rubber is used, and in particular where the cured rubber is liable to be exposed to temperatures of 150-200° C. Abstract: The present invention is based on the discovery that certain electron poor olefins combined with nucleophiles and a base catalyst are useful as adhesive compositions for the electronic packaging industry. In particular, the adhesive formulations set forth herein are useful as low temperature curing formulations with high adhesion to a variety of substrates. Invention formulations typically cure at about 80° C. and have a potlife of about 24 hours. The formulations cure by the well-known Michael addition reaction.
Abstract: The present invention relates to articles prepared from novel anionic block copolymers of mono alkenyl arenes and conjugated dienes, and to blends of such block copolymers with other polymers. Abstract: Core-shell particles and methods of making these particles are described as well as polymer composites comprising these particles. Cores comprise polymerized vinyl monomers and shells comprise polyamine polymers, where the polyamine polymers are covalently attached to the core. Abstract: The present invention discloses mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) comprising ion-exchanged molecular sieves such as UZM-5 zeolite ion-exchanged with Li+ cation (Li-UZM-5) and a continuous polymer matrix and methods for making and using these membranes. These MMMs, comprising ion-exchanged molecular sieves, in the form of symmetric dense films, asymmetric flat sheets, asymmetric hollow fibers, or thin-film composites, have exhibited simultaneously increased selectivity and permeability (or permeance) over polymer-only membranes and the mixed matrix membranes made from molecular sieves that have not been ion exchanged for gas separations. These MMMs are suitable for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor separations such as desalination of water by reverse osmosis, deep desulfurization of gasoline and diesel fuels, ethanol/water separations, pervaporation dehydration of aqueous/organic mixtures, CO2/CH4, CO2/N2, H2/CH4, O2/N2, olefin/paraffin, iso/normal paraffins separations, and other light gas mixture separations.

Abstract: The present invention relates to thermoplastic hollow vessels, tanks, drums and other industrially applicable housings. The invention is adaptable as plastic fuel tanks with low fuel permeability, e.g., less than 5 g.·mm/m2 day as a mono-layer structure. These vessels exhibit good sub 0 0C impact properties and are formed by relatively inexpensive blow molding or rotomolding processes. Disclosed are mono-layered hollow vessels comprising an uncompatibilized, fused blend composition of polyoxymethylene, thermoplastic polyurethane and a copolyester. In one embodiment mono-layered hollow vessels comprise uncompatibilized, fused polyoxymethylene, thermoplastic polyurethane and copolyester in the respective wt. amounts of 100, 5-15 and 5-15. According to a more preferred aspect the wt. ratio of thermoplastic polyurethane to copolyester is from 1:3 to 3:1.

In addition, phosphites or/and sterically hindered amines or/and NOR-HALS compounds may be present.

Abstract: Heat-activable adhesive tape for producing and further processing flexible conductor tracks, with an adhesive composed at least of a. an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer, with a weight fraction of 40% to 80% by weight, b. a polyvinyl acetal, with a weight fraction of 2% to 30% by weight, c. an epoxy resin, with a weight fraction of 10% to 50% by weight, and d. a hardener, the epoxide groups being chemically crosslinked with the hardener at high temperatures.
Abstract: The present invention belongs to the field of polymerization and processing of polymer and relates to the preparation of a kind of functional polyolefin master batch. The functional master batch is produced by liquid phase, melt phase, or solid phase reaction after mixing the polyolefin resin, polyamine and guanidine salt oligomer, olefin monomer and initiator. The molecular structure of functional polyolefin master batch is shown below: wherein R is a polyamine and guanidine salt oligomer bonded onto polyolefin molecular chain by covalence bond, while S is one selected from hydrogen, chlorine, methyl, or phenyl group. Blending mentioned functional master batch with the corresponding polyolefin, the various antimicrobe products, such as fibers, film, pipe and other plastic articles can be obtained. Besides endowing products with excellent permanent antimicrobe property, it also provides fibers with good-dyeable and antistatic ability and bumpers with easy-paintable ability.

Abstract: This invention provides a softening agent composition obtained by blending and heat treating (a) 100 parts by weight of at least one non-aromatic hydrocarbon softening agent for rubber; (b) 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of an organic peroxide; and (c) 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of a crosslinking aid, with the proviso that the weight ratio of component (b) to component (c) is 1 or less. The softening agent composition is useful and very easy to handle in the production of a thermoplastic resin composition.
Abstract: A fluoropolymer block copolymer containing a hydrofluorocarbon and a polyamide-based crosslinking agent crosslinked at a temperature above about 500° F. (about 260° C.). The crosslinked-block copolymer has compatibility with both non-hydrofluorocarbon-based fluoropolymers and engineered resins. Additionally, the block copolymer has unexpectedly high temperature stability, higher than each of the individual components.
