The packaging includes a tube having a first closed end into which the patient end of the needle is inserted so that the hub contacts an interior of the tube, a second closed end enclosing a proximal end of the hub, and a circumferential region disposed between the proximal end of the hub and the second closed end for opening the package to expose the proximal end of the hub.

Abstract: A closure device for releasing an additive liquid into a liquid in a container by operation of the closure device and to a container including such a closure device. The closure device including a cap member defining a fluid chamber having a neck at a lower end thereof and a casing substantially surrounding the fluid chamber. A plug member extends into the neck of the fluid chamber. The neck has an upper portion with a first diameter, and wherein the plug member comprises a primary seal adapted to seal between the plug member and the upper portion of the neck. An upper seal is adapted to seal between the plug member and the upper portion of the neck. A nozzle is directed away from the fluid chamber and in fluid communication with the exterior surface of the plug member below the primary circumferential seal.

Abstract: A method disclosed herein includes packaging and de-packaging a part. The part is packaged by placing the part adjacent to a shape memory polymer (SMP) while the SMP is in a permanent shape. The SMP is heated to a temperature above a switching temperature of the SMP, and a force is applied to the heated SMP such that it conforms to i) a shape of the part and/or ii) a desired shape for packing the part, thereby changing the SMP from the permanent shape into a temporary shape. The SMP is cooled to a temperature below the switching temperature to set the SMP into the temporary shape. The part is de-packaged by heating the SMP to a temperature above its switching temperature, thereby reverting the SMP from the temporary shape into the permanent shape and releasing the part. The part is removed from the SMP in the permanent shape.

Preferably, aligned increased friction sections are formed on the exterior surface of opposite sides of the bag and the glove has exterior increased friction portions on the tips of the finger stalls. When the bag is held between the thumb and index finger of the glove user, movement of the thumb and index finger of the glove in opposite directions facilitates opening of the bag.

Abstract: A storage bag is provided with lips that are shaped to facilitate unsealing of the bag. The lips include a visual cue that indicates to a user where the lips should be grasp during the unsealing operation. The opening device is configured to create an opening in a metal can, wherein the first prong is configured to grip a bottom of a can, the second prong is spaced from the first prong and is configured to puncture a hole in the can when pressed, and the rounded end is configured to push through the opening to create a wider opening in the can.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for changing a strip of sealed bag precursors in to open bags are disclosed. The apparatus is referred to as a transforming or bag opening machine and includes a separation station and may include a perforation station and a piercing station. The perforation station forms a plurality of end perforations in the multiple layers of a strip of sealed bag precursors. The separation station separates the plurality of end perforations in at least one film layer of the trip to form a plurality of bag openings. The plurality of end perforation are torn by the separation station, which includes manipulating the rotation of a main roller, a pressure roller and at least one separation roller.

Abstract: A one-piece thermoformed food package comprises a rectangular deep drawn base with a peripheral female rim channel and, connected to the base by a hinge, a lid having a peripheral male rim feature. In the corner of the base is a breakaway release feature which underlies a corner tab of the lid which is tucked into an inside edge of the female rim so that it cannot be accessed to open the package. When the user pushes up on the breakaway release feature, one or more frangible sections are broken and the lid corner tab is raised enough to open the package.

Abstract: An eight-sided, octagonal carton having an increased width opening and strength as compared to a four-sided, rectangular carton, and providing for improved removal of a food product stored within the carton. The octagonal carton has a top panel, a bottom panel, and an octagonal sidewall comprising a pair of longitudinal segments and a pair of transverse end segments. The end segments further comprise a pair of individual panels that can fold at an angle to provide three sides along each end segment; two angled sides and one side perpendicular to the longitudinal segments. To gain access to the interior of the carton, only one of the panels needs to be opened creating an access opening through which the food product is extracted.

Abstract: An improved child-resistant closure for dispensers of liquid medicaments, the closure being of a two-part construction. The closure has an outer cap with a quantity of shoulder lugs and skirt lugs and an inner cap with a quantity of shoulder lugs and flexible beams. The closure has equal quantities of shoulder lugs on the inner and outer caps, equal quantities of skirt lugs and flexible beams, flexible beams having an arcuate underside, shoulder lugs having a depth to prevent hyper-flexion of the flexible beams, and an ideal overlap when the faces of the shoulder lugs are aligned. Additionally, provided are methods for attaching and removing the cap from a pre-existing bottle.

The body has a side wall extending between a closed bottom end and a top end including an access opening. The body has a lid including a collar surrounding the body, the collar having a plurality of panels extending therefrom. The collar is movable relative to the body in a direction between a first position wherein the panels overlie and restrict access to the opening and a second position. The second position is closer to the bottom end of the body than the first position. The panels permit access to the opening and are configured to shift in an outwardly direction during contact with the top end of the body during movement of the collar from the first position toward the second position.

Abstract: A locking assembly includes a release mechanism and a cap. The release mechanism includes a pin. The cap threadingly engages with a fill neck and includes a barrel portion and an engagement portion. The engagement portion radially surrounds the barrel portion. The engagement portion presents engagement threads which threadingly engage with threads of the fill neck. The annular cover portion radially surrounds the engagement portion. The annular cover portion rotates relative to the annular engagement portion in a second rotational direction to cause rotation of the engagement portion in the second rotational direction such that the engagement threads remain threadingly engaged with the neck threads. The annular cover portion rotates in the second rotational direction and causes rotation of the engagement portion in the second rotational direction to threadingly disengage the engagement threads from the threads when the pin is attached to the locking cap.

Abstract: An improved drink can is disclosed wherein the drink can has a drink opening and a vent opening which are positioned opposite from each other with respect to a central portion of a top end of a drink can. The tab is attached to the central portion and can be pulled upward to open the drink opening then pushed back downward to open the vent opening. To aid in opening the vent opening with the tab, the vent opening may have a ridge to provide additional leverage when the tab pushes downward on a score line that defines the vent opening. The tab may be enlarged so that upon breakage of the score line to the vent opening, the tab contacts the top end of the can and does not allow the user's finger to proceed into the vent opening and possibly cut the user's finger.

The body defines a two-chamber interior cavity of a first predetermined volume for containing a beverage and a second adjacent volume for increasing the total useable container volume after the closure has been opened and for providing a drinking rim optimized to enhance the drinking experience.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a bottom-discharging scrap bin and a dumping method thereof. The bottom-discharging scrap bin includes a bin body that has an upper end opening and a lower opening that is rotatably coupled to the bottom board by a door shaft to allow the bottom board to selectively close the lower end opening of the bin body. The lower end opening is fixable to the bottom board by a locking device. Handles are provided on the bin body for receiving forks of a fork lift to insert therein to lift the bin body. When the bin is full of scraps, the locking device is locked and the bottom board closes the lower end opening. To dump the scraps, the locking device is unlocked and the bottom board is rotated with respect to the lower end opening to be opened.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting an object into an envelope in which the envelopes are stacked in a stacker. An envelope flap of the envelope is grasped by a lip on a rotary cam to open the envelope. The envelope flap of the envelope is brought into and maintained in contact with a surface of the rotary cam. The envelope is then pulled, via the envelope flap, so as to place and maintain the envelope in contact with the surface of the rotary cam. The rotary cam reverses the envelope to move the envelope into an inserting area where the envelope is detached from the surface of the rotary cam. An object is then inserted into the envelope and the envelope is then removed from the inserting area.

Abstract: A package and method for opening the package are disclosed. The method may include applying pressure to at least one tab area of the package. The at least one tab area may include a first tab portion and a second tab portion, the first tab portion and the second tab portion being disposed in a first position substantially sealed from each other. The method may further include breaching a first breachable bubble, the first breachable bubble being formed within the first tab portion, and breaching a second breachable bubble, the second breachable bubble being formed within the second tab portion. Further, the method may include causing the first tab portion and the second tab portion to shift from the first position to a second position in fluid communication with each other.

Abstract: An air vehicle, as well as a method for folding an air vehicle for storage, may include a fuselage and a wing connected to the fuselage. The wing may include two ends positioned opposite from each other, and the wing may be substantially perpendicular to the fuselage. At least one of the ends may define a space therebetween the fuselage and the wing. The space may be sized to receive a potion of the wing when the wing is wrapped around the fuselage.

The device may engage the lid of a jar, or the body of the jar. Two devices may be used as a system to engage both the lid and body of the jar. Force applied to the handle(s) is translated as torque to the lid and/or body of the jar.

Abstract: The invention relates to a package for a drill. The package has a protecting portion arranged to house a cutting portion of said drill in a contact free manner and a locking portion arranged to hold a tool engaging portion of said drill. The locking portion and the protecting portion are movable relative each other and the drill is releasable from the locking portion by a movement of the locking portion relative the protecting portion. The protecting portion is allows the user to clamp the cutting portion of said drill by pressing the protecting portion and thereby establishing a contact between the protecting portion and the cutting portion of said drill. The invention also relates to a method and an arrangement.

Abstract: A packaging system and method for selling and preparing a food product that is a combination of two or more food items. The system comprises a first container having a first food item therein, a second container having a second food item therein and a mechanism for disconnectedly joining the first container and the second container together. In use, the containers are separated, the food items are separately prepared and at least one of the food items is removed from its container and combined with the other food item to form the desired food product. The joining mechanism can comprise pull-tab devices, threaded connections, slot and pin connections, hook-and-loop connections and the like. A discharging mechanism can assist with discharging a food item from its container. One or more of the containers can be converted into a bowl-like or plate-like receptacle for preparing or consuming the food product.
