Patent number: 8839756Abstract: An intake air routing device for an engine having a plurality of cylinders, includes a pair of half case bodies forming an air chamber, an air filter arranged in the air chamber and configured to purify outside air received via an intake duct, and a plurality of intake passages extending from the air chamber. The plurality of intake passages are connected with respective intakes ports of the engine. A partition plate is disposed in the air chamber, and is formed separately from the case bodies. The partition plate is arranged in the air chamber such that it extends in the air chamber by a predetermined length in a direction intersecting with a direction where the intake passages are lined up so as to partition the intake passages from each other. Such intake air routing device reduces intake interference while maintaining a small size of the intake air routing device.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2013Date of Patent: September 23, 2014Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshinobu Ozaki, Akihiko Hamazaki

Patent number: 8834590Abstract: An air intake device has a first inlet through which outside air flows and a second inlet through which inside air flows. A filter is arranged to cover a lower part of the first inlet and a lower part of the second inlet. An air sending device is located under the filter, and the filter is arranged to be inclined to an air intake part of the air sending device. The air intake device is configured to be switched between an outside air mode and a two, layer mode. The air intake device defines a continuation passage at the outside air mode. The continuation passage causes the outside air to flow from the lower part of the first inlet to the lower part of the second inlet.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2012Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Katsuji Kuwada, Shinya Murayama

Patent number: 8808432Abstract: An air cleaner device for filtering intake air including a housing defining a chamber, a filter element disposed within the chamber, and a duct element having a passageway in fluid communication with the chamber. Further, the duct element extends along and downwardly from about a portion of the housing and further includes an inlet for drawing intake air into the chamber. The air cleaner having a base member in fluid communication with the chamber and an outlet, where the air drawn into the chamber is filtered by first and second filtering operations to obtain filtered air, with the first and the second filtering operations accomplished at least in part due to a cyclonic motion of the air and passage of the air through the filter element, respectively; and where the filtered air from the chamber of the housing is released through the outlet in the base member.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2009Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: Kohler Co.Inventors: Terrence M.
