  • Patent number: 5640838
Abstract: In preparation of the piecing process in an open-end rotor spinning device, negative pressure is first applied in a housing containing the spinning rotor, and the rotor cover is brought from its operating position into a fiber evacuation position in which it is lifted off from the housing. Fiber feeding is then switched on. The fiber stream produced thereby, together with the air stream which conveys the fibers is deflected and is evacuated by means of the negative pressure prevailing in the housing over the open rotor edge from the interior of the rotor and from the housing, until the rotor cover is brought back into its operating position to convey fibers to the fiber collection groove.

Abstract: In order to improve the smoothness of operation of a shaftless spinning rotor embodied as the rotor of an axial field motor wherein the rotor is supported by a magnetic gas bearing, a guide magnet arrangement for generating a magnetic guiding field is decoupled mechanically from the drive component of the stator. To that end, separate magnet and stator components are connected to one another by means having both elastic and damping properties, e.g., rubber. This mechanical decoupling makes it possible for the separate components to execute vibration independently of one another and for vibration to be transmitted from one component to another only in highly attenuated form. Hence, machine vibration can substantially be prevented from affecting the smoothness of rotor operation. Tangential forces generated by harmonics and radial forces caused by magnetic or mechanical asymmetries can likewise be absorbed by the stator, with an attendant improvement in smoothness of rotor operation.

A yarn guide channel extends radially within the rotor over at least a portion of its diameter. A centering eye for the twisted yarn is positioned on the extension of the rotor axis. A yarn guide tube is arranged so as to guide a yarn exiting from the yarn guide channel to the centering eye. A spinning device is rotatably supported on the rotor eccentrically relative to the rotor axis. A fiber strand is dissolved into dissolved fiber material and fed axially through the rotor and upwardly toward the spinning device where at least two spun fibers are produced. The spun fibers are downwardly guided toward the yarn guide channel so as to form a plied yarn. Along this path the spun fibers are subjected to a first twist to form a once twisted yarn by the rotation of the spinning device relative to the rotor.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for manufacturing a yarn from fiber material at least two spinning devices arranged adjacent to one another are provided. Fiber material is dissolved and fed to the at least two spinning devices. Each spinning device generates an individual spun fiber. The individual spun fibers are combined at the inlet opening of a hollow spindle axis to form a yarn. The yarn undergoes a two-for-one twisting operation by being passed in a first yarn feeding direction through the hollow spindle axis to an outlet opening of the hollow spindle axis, then radially guided from the outlet opening, and guided in a second yarn feeding direction counter to the first yarn feeding direction to form a yarn balloon rotating in a direction of rotation about the at least two spinning devices. A centering element is arranged on an axis extending along the hollow spindle axle so as to be spaced from the inlet opening of the hollow spindle axle.

Abstract: A housing encloses a rotor, an opening roller, and a conduit communicating between the rotor and opening roller for the feeding of fiber from the opening roller to the rotor. The housing forms a trash removal chamber below the opening roller into which trash is discharged toward the bottom of the chamber during operation of the opening roller; the area of the opening roller where the trash is discharged is the trash outlet opening. The rotation of the opening roller creates an air flow draft in the direction of rotation. This air flow draft, taken in combination with suction applied in the rotor of the open-end spinning unit, creates an air flow suction draft from the chamber through the conduit in the direction of the opening roller rotation. An air flow is provided in the trash removal chamber in and from the chamber in a direction counter to the direction of the air flow draft rotating with the opening roller in the region of the trash outlet opening.

Contact pressure between each spinning element and the indirect driving device is adjusted as a function of the momentary difference between the rotational speed of the spinning element and of its driving device in stationary operation while rotational speeds only nominally change, so that the slippage between indirect driving device and spinning element remains constant in time.
