Spring Drives Piston Patents (Class 604/135)
  • Patent number: 10500337
Abstract: An autoinjector having a body (1) receiving a reservoir (S) containing fluid and including a piston (P), such as a pre-filled syringe; a piston rod (5) that co-operates with the piston (P), the piston rod (5) being movable by an injection spring (8) between a primed position and an injection position in which the piston rod (5) has moved the piston (P) of the reservoir (S) so as to inject the fluid into an injection site; and an indicator device for indicating to the user that the autoinjector may be removed from said injection site. The autoinjector also includes a retarding system to delay the end of actuating the indicator device relative to the end of injection, the indicator device generating a noise while being actuated, the noise being generated until the end of actuating the indicator device.

  • Patent number: 10493213
Abstract: In an elongated casing, an active agent container connected to an injection needle can be shifted axially by a spring force. Auto-injectors which are sold or distributed filled and with the springs tensed have to be provided with a needle protecting cap to ensure the sterility of the injection needle. When such a needle protecting cap is removed as preparation for using the auto-injector, a tensile force can be exerted on the active agent container. Therefore, the active agent container comprising the injection needle must be prevented from being undesirably pulled forwards. At least one latching tongue prevents the active agent container from being prematurely shifted with respect to the casing, by abutting a flange arranged on a sliding sleeve which accommodates the active agent container. When the auto-injector is placed onto a person's skin, a needle protecting tube is shifted into the casing, forcing the latching tongue away from the flange and, thus, freeing the travel path for needle movement.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for injecting supportive and therapeutic agents into bone marrow. During conventional chemotherapy for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other bone related diseases, chemotherapeutic agents are typically injected intravenously. Intravenous injection, however, as a method of chemotherapy, has a number of potential disadvantages. By injecting therapeutic agents directly into the bone marrow using the present method and apparatus, these disadvantages can be avoided. A stronger needle with a shorter and sharper tip, when compared to a conventional intravenous or sternal puncture needle, designed to optimally administer therapeutic agents into bone marrow without causing injury is disclosed. The method includes injecting therapeutic agents into large reservoirs of bone marrow in accessible areas such as ilium and sternum is most likely to have a significant effect in treating bone marrow diseases.

  • Patent number: 9968731
Abstract: A fluid delivery device comprises a housing having a fluid reservoir. A needle is in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in an engaged position and out of fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in armed and storage positions. A proximal end of a biasing member is coupled to the housing and a distal end of the biasing member is configured to deliver a force to the fluid reservoir. A piston member extends through the biasing member and is coupled to the distal end of the biasing member. The piston member is fixed with respect to the housing in a locked position such that the biasing member does not deliver the force to the fluid reservoir and moveable with respect to the housing in a released position such that the biasing member delivers the force to the fluid reservoir. Transitioning the needle from the storage position to the armed position transitions the piston from the locked position to the released position.

  • Patent number: 9901680
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection device for automatic torsion spring driven injection of a liquid drug. The injection device is of the type wherein a telescopically movable needle shield activates the release of the torque of the torsion spring to drive the injection when the needle shield is moved from its extended position to a retracted position. The injection device further has a needle holder carrying the injection needle, which needle holder is axially movable both in relation to the housing and in relation to the needle shield. It is therefore possible to retract the needle shield in relation to the housing and at the same time move the needle holder to its extended position such that the injection needle is presented outside the needle shield thereby providing for easy exchange of the injection needle.

  • Patent number: 9855392
