Extendable Pad Patents (Class 604/385.16)
  • Patent number: 6423043
Abstract: Absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, a panty liner or an incontinence pad, includes a first absorbent part and a second part, which each have a substantially elongate shape with a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction, and two end portions. The two parts are mutually joined solely at their end portions. The second part is curved in the longitudinal direction and has high resistance to flexure along flexure lines parallel to the article's transverse direction both in a wet and dry condition, while the first part in a non-influenced condition has a lesser extension in a longitudinal direction than the second part and comprises at least one elastically extensible region in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 6362389
Abstract: An absorbent elastic nonwoven material having improved conformability includes a matrix of thermoplastic elastomeric nonwoven filaments, present in an amount of about 3 to less than 20% by weight of the absorbent elastic nonwoven material. A plurality of absorbent fibers and a superabsorbent material are contained within the matrix, each constituting about 20-77% by weight of the absorbent elastic nonwoven material. The absorbent elastic nonwoven material is useful in a wide variety of personal care and medical absorbent articles where softness and conformability, as well as absorbency and elasticity, are important.

  • Publication number: 20010051796
Abstract: A dispersible absorbent product comprises a mechanically weakened fibrous web. The dispersible absorbent product can absorb a sufficient amount of fluid without becoming overloaded and suffering from leakage, and is dispersible using a standard toilet. The mechanically weakened regions of the web enhance the dispersibility of the product. Additionally, the dispersible absorbent products may be pre-moistened with a composition. The pre-moistened products are stable in storage, easily dispersible down a toilet, and deliver cleaning, conditioning, and like benefits. Methods of making such dispersible absorbent products are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20010021839
Abstract: There is disclosed an absorbent article including: a support body for confronting an external wear; a liquid absorbing member positioned on the liquid-receiving side of the support body; two side wall sheets disposed on two sides of the support body lying opposite one another in the widthwise direction, the side wall sheets being separated from one another in the widthwise direction and being longitudinally attached at their root ends to the support body; and a connecting sheet connecting the two side wall sheets. The side wall sheets are individually subjected to elastic shrinking forces in the longitudinal direction for shrinking to raise the free ends thereof from the support body to the liquid-receiving side, and the liquid absorbing member is supported by the connecting sheet so that the liquid absorbing member is movable over the support body while being unattached directly to the support body.
