Abstract: A disposable personal care article comprises a shell having a unitary structure for disposition adjacent a wearer's vulva region, where the shell has a first side and a second side, the first side having a first area and a second area. The first area of the shell contacts to the wearer's skin and/or hair surrounding the vulva region. At least a portion of the first area comprises a body attachment means for adhering the shell directly to the skin and/or hair of the wearer. In addition, the shell has an anterior half and a posterior half where the posterior half exhibits a higher extension relative to the anterior half when a stretching force of 454 grams is applied. In some aspects, the article further includes an absorbent structure.

Abstract: A mini pad is provided with a chilled skim milk additive which is useful for reducing vulvar inflammation and lowering the acidity of a female's vulva which result from vaginal secretions which leak onto the tissue of the vulva. The mini pad can be provided with a self-contained cooling component which can be frozen or, when compressed and ruptured, will lower the temperature of the mini pad to provide the soothing cold. The skim milk can be incorporated into the mini pad in several different ways. The mini pad is useful for soothing and healing vulvar irritation, and it is mobile and can be easily used during normal daily activities without any problems whatsoever.

A mechanical fastening system is positioned on the body. The mechanical fastening system has a loop component and a hook component. The loop component is an elastomeric laminate formed by securing an elastomeric loop material to an elastomeric substrate. The hook component is fastenably engageable with the loop material of the loop component. The laminate is stretched which includes stretching both the loop material and the substrate. The hook component and the loop component are engaged whereby the hook component fastenably engages the loop material of the loop component. The stretched laminate is allowed to retract which includes retraction of the loop material and retraction of the substrate.

Abstract: A tab and slot closure system has a tab member, a slot member, and an anti-pop open device. The tab member has a tab element which has a first region and a second region. The first region includes a proximal edge, and the second region includes a distal edge. The tab element is attached to the substrate element along a line of attachment. The slot member has an inboard portion, an outboard portion, and a slot disposed between the inboard portion and the outboard portion. The anti-pop open device is disposed on either the tab member or the slot member and reduces the likelihood of the tab member unintentionally disengaging the slot member when the tab and slot closure system is fastened.

A shell supports the absorbent structure at the vaginal region and has an adhesive thereon for adhering the shell directly to the wearer. The article has a peripheral edge defined at least in part by the shell and the absorbent structure is attached to the shell. At least one removal tab is attached to at least one of the absorbent structure and the shell and extends outward beyond the peripheral edge of the article. The article may also have adhesive on its garment-facing surface for attaching the article to a wearer's undergarment for use in placing the article on the wearer.

An overall lateral extensibility of the first area is substantially less than an overall lateral extensibility of the substantially laterally extensible area.

Abstract: An improved mechanical fastening system that includes a male component and a female component is disclosed. The female component is adapted for releasable engagement with the male component, and the female component comprises a fibrous web, wherein the fibrous web comprises a layer of elastomeric fibers. A disposable absorbent article employing the improved mechanical fastening system is also disclosed.

Abstract: Special articles are fashioned as undergarments of a very brief nature. Brevity, with regard to undergarments, has advantages including: comfort and ease of use, improved cooperation with outerwear and protection against soiling. Thin sheets are prepared and arranged to be applied to the crotch area of the interior surface of pants or other similar garments via an adhesive bonding agent. So applied, the article provides underwear function and is intended to be an underwear substitute without bunching, chafing, or forming visible panty lines. The underwear substitute provides comfort to the user without forming visible panty lines while protecting the outer garment against soiling. These underwear substitutes may be formed of materials suitable for disposal after single use and they may be arranged as a kit suitable for retail sale.

In use, an assembly of the pouch and the pad received in the pouch can be positioned in a crotch region of an adult, child or baby in an operative position of the pad and with the pouch and the skin of the person enclosing the pad and forming a barrier to leakage from the pad.

The diaper does not have an umbilical notch when in the unfastened condition.

Abstract: An SBS based construction adhesive that includes an amount of SIS adhesive to make an SBS/SIS adhesive that shows excellent shear hang time values when used to manufacture disposable absorbent articles. The SBS/SIS adhesive is applied in a spiral pattern having a particular width and frequency to form an endflap seal that may reduce the likelihood of a gel on skin occurrence.

The absorbent article includes an outer layer, an inner layer that is substantially co-extensive with the outer layer, an absorbent layer and one or more fasteners, which are located on the back portion of the absorbent article. The absorbent layer is interposed between the outer layer and the inner layer to form the absorbent article. The outer layer has a central portion between two side portions. The central portion of the outer layer is treated with a chemical to substantially inhibit attachment of the one or more fasteners to the central portion of the outer layer. The one or more fasteners secure the back portion to the outer layer of the front portion. Specifically, the one or more fasteners are configured to secure the back portion to a region of the outer layer which is not treated with the chemical.

The holder comprises a front region, a crotch region having a specified Crotch Holding Force, and a rear region. The holder provides an upward holding force against the absorbent article in the crotch region to hold the article in close bodily contact. A method for holding such an article in close bodily contact by wearing the holder is also disclosed.
