Closure Moved By Relative Movement Between Closure And Separate Protruding Member Patents (Class 604/91)
  • Patent number: 6692468
Abstract: A dual-chamber syringe has a plunger within an inner delivery chamber in fluid communication with an ejection port. The deliver chamber is formed within a tubular element axially slidable within a tubular guide. The tubular guide and the syringe outer barrel form an outer reservoir chamber. The outer reservoir chamber is sealed from the delivery chamber while the tubular element is in a first position within the guide. Upon withdrawal of the plunger, frictional contact imparted by the plunger seal causes the tubular element to slide away from sealing engagement with the barrel into a second position within the guide. In the second position of the tubular element, a fluid passageway is opened from the reservoir to the delivery chamber allowing fluid to be drawn into the delivery chamber. A porous seal between the plunger rod and barrel allows air into the reservoir during transfer of fluid to the delivery chamber.

  • Patent number: 4874381
Abstract: A two-compartment syringe having a bypass through which the liquid can be forced into the medicament compartment by advance of the piston connected to the stem, has a brake retarding the displacement of this piston until it reaches the bypass to prevent undesired discharge of the injectable substance from the syringe. Once the latter piston has reached the bypass, the stem can be axially displaced independently of a braking action by the damping means for normal injection.

  • Patent number: 4804366
Abstract: A cartridge 444, 644, 744 having a drug or other beneficial agent 608 therein and including an adapter 477 is positioned on a receptacle 442, 642 within a parenteral fluid administration set 420. Also disclosed is an adapter 477' for connecting the receptacle 442, 642 to a chamber 606 having a beneficial agent therein. The cartridge and adapter permit a single opening through the injection site at the receptacle and at the chamber at opposite ends of the flow path means while still permitting simultaneous flow both into and out of the chamber and the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4638927
Abstract: A container comprises a bottle for a liquid product and having at the end of its neck a leakproof envelope enclosing an additional product to be stored separately from the liquid in the bottle. A cap on the neck includes a slidable push button carrying a perforator to open the envelope in a central region of the envelope to allow the additional product to mix with the liquid and then to be discharged through an eccentric duct in the cap rather than having to pass through the center of the cap where the perforator is positioned.

  • Patent number: 4592743
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for dosing and mixing of two or more liquids. According to the invention, the liquids are led to a chamber (26) where they are mixed, an outlet (30) from the chamber being closed at the same time. When the chamber (26) has been filled, the outlet (30) is opened while the inlets (21, 22) for the starting liquids are simultaneously closed, and when the chamber (26) has been emptied, the outlet (30) is closed again and the inlet or inlets (21, 22) are opened. This cyclic process is repeated any desired number of times. The chamber has a variable volume, and changes of the volume are sensed by a sensor (28), which controls the opening and closing of the inlets and the outlets. The device for carrying out the method is provided with a mechanical bistable flip-flop device, which in one of its stable positions opens the inlets (21, 22) and closes the outlet (30), and in the other stable position closes the inlets and opens the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4559983
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for preparing and dispensing a solution. A bottle containing a substance to be disolved is closed by a disc-shaped base having a rigid rod thereon and a deformable head. A tube of solvent is closed by an apertured slidable piston. Mixing is effected by placing the piston against the rigid rod and applying axial pressure which dispenses the solvent from the tube, through a capillary channel in the rod and into the bottle. Slots in the rod are revealed during this operation to allow the air to escape from the bottle. The deformable head also serves to pressurize the bottle to permit dispensing therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4506691
Abstract: A three-way valve for automatic sequencing of fluid flow from a syringe into an IV administration set comprises a housing which forms a fluid chamber having a first and a second inlet and an outlet. A sleeve having a fluid passageway normally closed by a check valve is slidably disposed within the fluid chamber for reciprocal movement between a first position and a second position for respective fluid sealing engagement with the first and second inlets. With the sleeve in the second position, fluid flows through the chamber from the first inlet to the outlet. Engagement of a syringe with the second inlet urges the sleeve into the first position to permit fluid flow from the syringe into the second inlet and through the chamber to the outlet. Upon emptying of the syringe, the syringe plunger seals the second inlet and urges against a probe that opens the check valve to permit resumption of fluid flow from the first inlet to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4493348
Abstract: A container housing liquid medication is provided together with a syringe and a coupling member for use in orally administering the medication to a patient. The coupling member is fastened to the container and includes a head member projecting upwardly to receive an inner tip of the syringe barrel. The liquid medication is dispensed from the container into a barrel of the syringe through a bore of the head member when a plunger is moved within the syringe barrel. After a predetermined amount of medication is received by the syringe barrel, the syringe barrel is removed from the head member and the predetermined amount of medication is administered orally to the patient. A cap member attached to the coupling member by means of a strap closes off the bore so that no medication escapes from the container when the syringe is disconnected from the head member.
