Failure Protection Or Reliability Patents (Class 700/21)
  • Patent number: 8022819
Abstract: Electronic control apparatus (20) and method for controlling cellular alarm systems (10/11), wherein, by means of sensors (201) of the control apparatus (20), physical measurement parameters (202) of occurring measurement events (203) are triggered and are filtered on the basis of predefined threshold values (204). The alarm systems (10/11) are selected and activated electronically if at least one of the threshold values (204) is exceeded. For the purpose of activation, dedicated activation signals (101) are generated by means of the control apparatus (20) and transmitted to the alarm systems (10/11). By means of a counter module (21) of the control apparatus (20), the generated activation signals (101) are cumulated, as a counter signal (211), within a predefined time window (205) upon each activation.

The components of the product are acted upon by different loadings and are operated, in each instance, at the different loadings until they fail. An end-of-life curve of the component is recorded on the basis of the load-dependent failure times of a component. An EOL curve of the product is ascertained such that at the different loadings, it includes the EOL curve of the components which has, in each instance, the shortest failure time at the corresponding loading. The anticipated service life of the product is determined as a functional value of the EOL curve of the product as a function of the predefined loading of the product.

Abstract: Safety units 1d to 1f for executing a safety function processing are connected to a non-safety controller constituted by connecting a plurality of units 1b, 1c including CPU units 1a. A CPU bus 10 to be connected with the CPU units and a safety dedicated bus 11 for mutually connecting the safety units are provided to the safety units. Since the safety dedicated bus is isolated from the non-safety system, reliability of the safety function can be secured. The CPU unit can read out data through the CPU bus irrespective of the safety unit and the non-safety unit.

Abstract: A method for the computer-assisted exploration of states of a technical system is provided. The states of the technical system are run by carrying out an action in a respective state of the technical system, the action leading to a new state. A safety function and a feedback rule are used to ensure that a large volume of data of states and actions is run during exploration and that at the same time no inadmissible actions occur which could lead directly or indirectly to the technical system being damaged or to a defective operating state. The method allows a large number of states and actions relating to the technical system to be collected and may be used for any technical system, especially the exploration of states in a gas turbine. The method may be used both in the real operation and during simulation of the operation of a technical system.

Abstract: A system and method for performing modeling, prediction, optimization and control, which would permit what is, described herein as embedded alarm control. In the proposed method of embedding alarm control, the alarm limits are used to constrain the controlled variables dynamically such that the controller actions are affected to minimize and prevent alarm limit violations in addition to the constraints commonly included. It is proposed in the present invention that the alarm limits be incorporated as part of optimization and constrained control action calculation in a model predictive control. As an exemplary case, this method of incorporation of alarm limits within optimization and control is described and the results obtained from it are presented.
