  • Patent number: 10178143
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for selecting a bitrate to stream encoded media. A manifest file is fetched, where the manifest file contains metadata for encoded media segments which includes tags signifying the associated encoded media segments being important to the viewer. A playback occupancy level is then increased before reaching these tagged media segment(s). A high bitrate (high quality) is selected to stream the tagged media segment(s) which are then fetched and played at the selected high bitrate in response to the new playback buffer occupancy level being above a threshold level. In this manner, those media segments that are of higher importance to the viewer will be viewed in a higher quality since content information is used to select the bitrate to receive the encoded media segments. As a result, the user's quality of experience in viewing media is improved.

  • Patent number: 10158619
Abstract: An example implementation may involve a computing system receiving, from a media playback system, a request to initiate playback of a cloud queue. The cloud queue may currently have a first access status that authorizes a first set of queue operations, which may include playback of the cloud queue. After receiving the request to initiate playback, the computing system may cause audio tracks of the cloud queue to be queued in a local queue of the media playback system such that the media playback system may playback audio tracks of the cloud queue via the local queue. The computing system may modify the access status of the cloud queue to a second access status. This second access status may authorize a second set of queue operations on the cloud queue. • Patent number: 10091548
Abstract: Embodiments described herein involve facilitating synchronous playback in a media playback system that includes a first media device and a second media device. An example implementation involves receiving an instruction to form a zone group that includes the first media device and the second media device. The implementation further involves comparing first network performance metrics corresponding to a network interface of the first media device to second network performance metrics corresponding to a network interface of the second media device. The implementation also involves identifying the first media device as a group coordinator of the zone group based on the comparison. Based on identifying the first media device as the group coordinator, the first media device is configured to provide data indicating audio content and audio content playback timing information to the second media device to facilitate synchronous playback of the audio content as the zone group.

  • Patent number: 10089994
Abstract: A method of acoustic matching of audio recordings by means of acoustic fingerprinting is disclosed. An acoustic fingerprint is extracted from a fragment of an audio recording. The fingerprint represents a highly discriminative compact digital digest (acoustic hash) of the acoustic recording and consists of smaller digital entities called acoustic sub-fingerprints (acoustic hash-words), computed from perceptually essential properties of the acoustic recording. Two acoustic fingerprints corresponding to two audio fragments are matched to determine degree of acoustic similarity of the two audio fragments.

Abstract: A system is disclosed that relates to a system for creating a multi-sensory environment room and more particularly to a system that enables the environment of a room to be selectively controlled to provide an integrated multi-sensory experience which includes video, sound and ambient scent technology which are all directed to a common theme which can be selectively customized. The multi-sensory environment room provides a calming and memorable setting that can showcase the decedent's life in a refreshing, upbeat setting. For example, a visual of waves crashing at the shore paired with the smell of fresh, salty air and the sounds of seagulls and surf of a special place shared with the decedent. Alternately, the environment can be personalized with sounds and scents that recreate the family memories or a patriotic theme that can highlight your loved one's values and devotion to country. A custom or stock video can be displayed using the ‘picture within a picture’ feature to customize the experience even more.

  • Patent number: 10074364
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating sound profiles of artificial commands detected by multiple voice activated electronic devices is described herein. In some embodiments, numerous voice activated electronic devices may send audio data representing a phrase to a backend system at a substantially same time. Text data representing the phrase, and counts for instances of that text data, may be generated. If the number of counts exceeds a predefined threshold, the backend system may cause any remaining response generation functionality that particular command that is in excess of the predefined threshold to be stopped, and those devices returned to a sleep state. In some embodiments, a sound profile unique to the phrase that caused the excess of the predefined threshold may be generated such that future instances of the same phrase may be recognized prior to text data being generated, conserving the backend system's resources.

  • Patent number: 10074350
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to automatically identifying structures of a music stream. A segment structure may be generated that visually indicates repeating segments of a music stream. To generate a segment structure, a feature that corresponds to a music attribute from a waveform corresponding to the music stream is extracted from a waveform, such as an input signal. Utilizing a signal segmentation algorithm, such as a Variable Markov Oracle (VMO) algorithm, a symbolized signal, such as a VMO structure, is generated. From the symbolized signal, a matrix is generated. The matrix may be, for instance, a VMO-SSM. A segment structure is then generated from the matrix. The segment structure illustrates a segmentation of the music stream and the segments that are repetitive.

  • Patent number: 10067737
Abstract: A head-mounted device (HMD) has a transparent display and an array of microphones. The HMD determines a task-based context of the HMD based on a task being performed by a user of the HMD, and determines an ambient-based context of the HMD based on audio data produced by the array of microphones. The HMD detects a first notification configured to be displayed in the transparent display of the HMD. The HMD intercepts the first notification in response to detecting the first notification and generates a second notification based on a priority level of the first notification, the task-based context, and the ambient-based context. The second notification includes a combination of an audio notification and a visual notification (AR content). The HMD replaces the first notification with the second notification and provides the second notification at the HMD.
