  • Patent number: 9324313
Abstract: A wearable computing device can receive, via at least one input transducer, a first audio signal associated with ambient sound from an environment of the device. The device can then process the first audio signal so as to determine a second audio signal that is out of phase with the first audio signal and effective to substantially cancel at least a portion of the first audio signal. The device may then generate a noise-cancelling audio signal based on the second audio signal, based on a third audio signal, and based on one or more wearer-specific parameters, where the third audio signal is representative of a sound to be provided by the device. The device may then cause a bone conduction transducer (BCT) to vibrate so as to provide to an ear a noise-cancelling sound effective to substantially cancel at least a portion of the ambient sound.

  • Patent number: 9318094
Abstract: A personal audio device, such as a wireless telephone, includes an adaptive noise canceling (ANC) circuit that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal that measures the ambient audio and an error microphone signal that measures the output of an output transducer plus any ambient audio at that location and injects the anti-noise signal at the transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. A processing circuit uses the reference and error microphone to generate the anti-noise signal, which can be generated by an adaptive filter operating at a multiple of the ANC coefficient update rate. Downlink audio can be combined with the high data rate anti-noise signal by interpolation. High-pass filters in the control paths reduce DC offset in the ANC circuits, and ANC coefficient adaptation can be halted when downlink audio is not detected.

Abstract: An attenuation control before digital signal processing provides digital headroom. A pre-digital signal processing volume control receives a volume control signal and provides a pre-digital signal processing first attenuation of an input signal before digital signal processing. A master volume control provides a master volume control attenuation after the digital signal processing. The first attenuation may be the same as the master volume control attenuation, or it may be less or more than the master volume control attenuation, depending on the application and desired headroom. The first attenuation and master volume control attenuation may be linearly related or non-linearly related, or not a mathematical function (non-continuous, etc) at all. Changes in the attenuation may be ramped to avoid discontinuities in the signal, preferably over a period between 10 and 100 milliseconds, and are preferably applied as close to simultaneously with master volume changes as possible.

Abstract: A proxy-based, nonlinear editing system and method with improved audio level controls is provided. The system includes a proxy file generator, an audio summary file generator that assigns a single audio level for each proxy file video frame, a web user interface having a visual display, and a digital controller. Whenever a proxy file selected for display on the visual display, the digital processor simultaneously provides a graph of the associated audio summary file. The digital processor serially connects, on the same axes, the audio graphs of proxy files being assembled into an edited product, marks the location of audio “spikes”, and provides the web user interface with controls for adjusting the audio level of all or a portion of the audio graphs.

Abstract: The method, according to one embodiment of the present invention, receives a plurality of input values associated with a building or plurality of buildings. The method then constructs a thermal and an electrical load model based on the inputs and constructs an overall energy model, the overall energy model being based on the thermal and electrical load models. The method next generates a plurality of demand models and optimizes the demand models using complex multivariate optimization techniques, wherein optimizing is based on usage data and energy rules. Finally, the method displays recommendations based on the optimized model or generating real-time, complementary control instructions based on the optimized model, the determination based on client preferences.

Abstract: Items of content may be available in any of a number of versions. Major aspects of each content version, such as overall plot and major characters, may generally overlap. However, minor aspects, such as level of description, minor characters, or sub-plots may vary between versions. Accordingly, systems and methods are provided for managing playback of multiple content versions, and enabling users to switch between such content versions. In some embodiments, a playback path including portions of multiple content versions may be provided, such that a user may consume only desired portions of each content version. In other embodiments, a determined playback path may be utilized to create a customized content version, which may be provided to a user.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for using a user interface to transfer a playback queue from one playback zone to another within a network media system. The interface may provide a first zone representation of a playback zone, and a first queue representation of a first group of playable items in a particular relative position. The particular relative position of the first queue representation may indicate that the playback queue associated with the first playback zone includes the first group of playable items. The interface may receive an input indicating a movement of a second queue representation to the particular relative position. In response, the first queue representation may be removed from the particular relative position and the second queue representation may be provided in the particular relative position, indicating that the playback queue now comprises a second group of playable items represented by the second queue representation.
