Probability Determination Patents (Class 702/181)
  • Patent number: 8707221
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include systems and methods for automatically predicting production yield for a circuit assembly according to attributes of its components and defect data mapped thereto. Embodiments receive a proposed design specification for a circuit assembly, including bill of materials (BOM) and schematic data, at a yield prediction environment. The yield prediction environment maps a set of attributes to each component in the BOM and maps a set of possible defects to each component according to its attributes. Defects may be further mapped to a manufacturing process assigned to populate each component in the circuit assembly. The defects are associated with predicted frequencies of occurrence, which can be used to roll up a yield prediction for the circuit assembly. Embodiments further allow “what-if” analyses to be performed so that different yield prediction results can be compared according to different form factor options and/or different manufacturing process options.

Abstract: A method, system and program storage device for history matching and forecasting of subterranean reservoirs is provided. Reservoir parameters and probability models associated with a reservoir model are defined. A likelihood function associated with observed data is also defined. A usable likelihood proxy for the likelihood function is constructed. Reservoir model parameters are sampled utilizing the usable proxy for the likelihood function and utilizing the probability models to determine a set of retained models. Forecasts are estimated for the retained models using a forecast proxy. Finally, computations are made on the parameters and forecasts associated with the retained models to obtain at least one of probability density functions, cumulative density functions and histograms for the reservoir model parameters and forecasts. The system carries out the above method and the program storage device carries instructions for carrying out the method.

Abstract: In summary, the invention relates to a device, a system, a method and a computer program for spectrum sensing. A detection procedure for detecting a signal of interest or an event by using a plurality of sensing devices capable of communicating with a central unit is proposed. The sensing devices can compute soft detection metrics and communicate this information to a central unit, where the information may be used to make a final detection decision using a certain specified rule. The signaling overhead of the proposed approach can be of the same order as that of a hard signaling approach. However, the proposed approach may achieve a better detection performance.

Abstract: There is described herein the extension of the application of the Laplace Test Statistic for trend analysis and prediction of incipient faults for power systems. The extensions consider the situation where two parameters believed to contribute explicitly to the eventual failure are monitored. The developed extensions applied to actual incipient failure events provide promising results for prediction of the impending failure. It is demonstrated that by incorporating two parameters in the trend analysis, the robustness to outliers is increased and the flexibility is augmented by increasing the degrees of freedom in the generation of the alarm signal.

Abstract: A method providing an analytical technique introducing label information into an anomaly detection model. Effective utilization of label information is based on introducing the degree of similarity between samples. Assuming, for example, there is a degree of similarity between normally labeled samples and no similarity between normally labeled and abnormally labeled samples. Also each sensor value is generated by the linear sum of a latent variable and a coefficient vector specific to each sensor. However, the magnitude of observation noise is formulated to vary according to the label information for the sensor values, and set so that normal label unlabeled anomalously labeled. A graph Laplacian is created based on the degree of similarity between samples, and determines the optimal linear transformation matrix according to a gradient method. • Patent number: 8589589
Abstract: A method, a system, and an apparatus are provided for organizing management information bases (MIB) in a network. A table, associated with an overlay MIB structure, is populated with entries. Each entry defines an object identifier (OID) of a mount point and an OID of a mount target. A selection is made between the existing OIDs and OIDs corresponding to a MIB overlay. When management communication refers to managed objects, they can be referred to in terms of OIDs defined by the MIB overlay, as an alternative to their existing OIDs. An agent infrastructure is defined to support the MIB overlay structure.

  • Patent number: 8577505
Abstract: A system and approach for diagnostic visualizations of, for example, building control systems data. A focus may be on a similarity metric for comparing operations among sites relative to energy consumption. Normalizing factors may be used across sites with varying equipment consumption levels to be compared automatically. There may also be a high level overview of an enterprise of sites. For instance, consumption totals of the sites may be normalized by site size and length of time of a billing period to identify such things as outlier sites. One may use a main view of geographic distribution dynamically linked to subviews showing distribution by size, by aggregated climate, and so on. With these views, one may quickly drill through the enterprise and identify sites of interest for further investigation. A key metric may be intensity which invokes viewing virtually all sites by normalized consumption for a unit amount of time.

Abstract: A computer-based method includes collecting a sequence of measurements related to a controllable environmental parameter in a monitored space over time, deriving a master curve based on the sequence of collected measurements to characterize normal periodic variations in the controllable environmental parameter over time, collecting one or more subsequent measurements that represent the controllable environmental parameter of the monitored space, and evaluating a likelihood that the controllable environmental parameter will, at some future point in time, exceed an acceptable level by comparing a curve associated with one or more of the subsequent measurements to the master curve.

  • Patent number: 8554511
Abstract: An apparatus, method and program for estimating the mass of a vehicle uses periodically detected tire rotation speed information of the vehicle wheels, calculated tire rotation acceleration information, calculated driving force of the vehicle, and estimated mass of the vehicle as a regression coefficient when the rotation acceleration information and the driving force information are subjected to linear regression. With regard to an error in calculated driving force information, a ratio is calculated between the dispersion of the error obtained one time before and an error at the current moment, and an update adjustment parameter is calculated by adding a stabilization parameter to thus obtained ratio. The calculated update adjustment parameter is used to calculate a Kalman gain so that the mass is sequentially estimated so as to reduce an update width of the regression coefficient when the error ratio is higher.
