Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for authorizing the use of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) charging apparatus by a short-term renter. In an example method, a processor provides an authorization for use of a BEV charging apparatus by a first individual. The BEV charging apparatus is located on the premises of a building. The processor further enables access to the BEV charging apparatus over a designated period of time for use by the first individual and configures a first lock to prevent unauthorized entry by the first individual into a first portion of the building. In one scenario, the first individual is a short-term renter, the BEV charging apparatus is located in a garage of the building, the first portion of the building is a first room of the building, and the first lock is installed in a door leading into the first room of the building.

Abstract: In one disclosed method, a computing system receives, from a first remote device, a first request for a file and determines that at least a second remote device is within a proximity of the first remote device. The computing system further divides the file into at least a first portion and a second portion. The computing system further sends, to the first remote device, the first portion of the file and sends, to the second remote device, the second portion of the file. The computing system further sends, to the second remote device, first data to enable the second remote device to establish a connection with the first remote device, for transfer of at least the second portion of the file to the first remote device via the connection with the second remote device.

Abstract: An approach is provided for using a passenger-based driving profile. The approach involves detecting an identity of a user of a vehicle. The approach also involves retrieving a passenger profile of the user based on the identity. The passenger profile is generated based on sensor data indicating a reaction of the user to at least one vehicle driving behavior previously experienced by the user as a vehicle passenger. The approach further involves configuring the vehicle based on the passenger profile.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automated event detection of controlled-environment facility residents, such as identification of potential dangers and/or issues concerning correctional facility inmates. The system and method employs at least one biometric capture device or mechanism disposed within a controlled-environment area configured to capture biometrics of residents of the controlled-environment facility within the controlled-environment area. A controlled-environment facility administration and management system, or the like, is configured to enroll key biometric identification biometric features of residents of the controlled-environment facility and compare captured biometrics of the residents to enrolled key biometric features of residents of the controlled-environment facility to identify the resident. The system also identifies parameters that define an occurrence of an event. The system monitors the conditions within the facility to detect the occurrence of such an event.

For each of the tasks, an email system associated with the user is queried to obtain one or more emails and calendar events associated with the task. An IM system associated with the user is queried to obtain IM messages of an IM channel of which the user is a member. The IM channel has been specifically created to exchange messages concerning the task amongst the members of the IM channel. The task is then determined whether it satisfies a predetermined state (e.g., inactive, lack of future meetings) in view of emails, calendar events, and IM messages associated with the task based on a set of rules. If the task is determined to satisfy the predetermined state, a notification message is transmitted to a preconfigured destination.

A method, that is also disclosed, includes obtaining at least one image within which is shown at least a portion of a vehicle. The method also includes receiving image data for the at least one image, and analyzing the image data to generate a violation score for each of one or more potential vehicle operation violations for the vehicle. When the violation score is in-between an upper violation threshold and a lower consideration threshold, user input is obtained that either affirms or rejects existence of a violation and then, once the user input is obtained, a violation notification is generated only when the user input affirms the existence of the violation. When the violation score is higher than the violation threshold, the violation notification is generated without the user input being obtained.

Abstract: In some implementations, a computing system can reduce startup delays for presenting remote media items. For example, when a user requests media content from a media service, the computing system can include information about the first media item to be played in the initial startup messages to reduce the number of roundtrips needed between client and server devices to present the first media item. A media item can include an introductory asset. The introductory asset can be a portion of the full media item that can be decrypted with a local key or not encrypted at all so that a media client can receive and start presenting the introductory media asset quickly while the full media item is being processed by the media client. In some implementations, the system can remove leading silence from the media item so that the amount of delay perceived by the user is reduced.

The system then verifies that a user has provided payment and is able to generate emails to the users prompting them to undertake different actions and saves copies of correspondence sent to and by the user.

Embodiments perform a restriction stage that includes generating an initial AI solution, perform an expansion stage by generating a plurality of artificial intelligence expansion engines by modifying the starting state to determine a new starting state for each; modifying the set of criteria to determine a new set of criteria, using the new starting state and the new set of criteria to generate an expansion AI solution; and joining the initial AI solution of the restriction engine with the plurality of expansion AI solutions to generate an ensemble AI solution. This solution may be refined by a restriction stage and the expansion and/or restriction stages may be reiterated as desired.

Abstract: Various of the disclosed embodiments concern systems and methods for expediting the settlement of securities traded on an exchange. A settlement system can generate electronic records of financial transactions by bundling a trade report, clearing instructions, etc., into a cryptographic ledger. Current cryptographic ledgers do not handle transactions at the rate which securities are traded. In order to improve rate processing for cryptographic ledgers sharded transaction trees are used.

Abstract: Techniques for providing digital assistant devices with the capability to plan and execute complex macrotasks. In an aspect, a digital assistant device queries an online macrotask repository for task templates associated with a macrotask. The task templates may be designed and configured by Internet crowd-sourcing, with oversight from human editors. Based on a retrieved task template, a digital assistant device may automatically execute autonomous microtasks specified by the task template, and further elicit user input for executing certain microtasks requiring user oversight and/or confirmation. The online macrotask repository enables digital assistant devices to execute a broad range of complex macrotasks that would otherwise be difficult to execute in a satisfactory manner.

For each commodity trade of the report, the system maps the location of that commodity trade to an assessment of pricing information such that the commodity trade is to be included in the assessment. The system provides to the price reporter the hash of the report as evidence of the commodity trades. The system provides to the price reporter a listing of the commodity trades of the report for each commodity trade. The listing identifies each assessment that includes that commodity trade.

Abstract: A tracking device broadcasts beacon signals that are separated in time by broadcast intervals. The tracking device determines the broadcast intervals based on a behavior model. The behavior model specifies one or more conditions, such as times of day within a 24-hour day, and associates a usage probability with each condition. A higher usage probability causes the tracking device to broadcast beacon signals at shorter broadcast intervals. A mobile device in communication with the tracking device can reconfigure the behavior model, either by modifying portions of the behavior model or by replacing the behavior model with a different behavior model. This allows the behavior model to adapt to different circumstances, such as different usage patterns during weekdays, weekends, and vacations.
