Abstract: A secure data transmission device: employs a proprietary arrangement of individualized encodable micro-machined electromagnets embedded in a compact, plastic (or apt substrate) which insulates each electromagnet from one another. The electromagnets mimic the magnetic strip on a credit card, but have the capability to temporarily capture data, and then transmit said data to be read by a magstripe terminal. The electromagnetic device can receive, and momentarily capture a variety of data, depending on which digital data is chosen by user. It then converts that data it to an analog signal, and then by using such components as microphone amplifier, a digital-to-analog converter, and microprocessor in the mobile device, transmits that data to the secure information device, which can write that data to a magnetic card terminal. The secure transmission device can be rewritten over and over again each time the user has a separate transaction, using different transaction data.

That utterance is compared with voice reference data for human and machine entities, and a determination is made as to whether the entity requesting access is a human or a machine. Access is then permitted or refused based on that determination.

Abstract: A terminal for use in a retail banking system comprises an interface for receiving multiple types of personal authentication elements. An authentication request for a user is associated with one or more of these types of element. The terminal also comprises a security module for providing access to a plurality of different access spaces of the system, each space comprises a different respective function or combination of functions of the system. For each access space, the security module provides a mapping between that access space and a respective one or more of the types of personal authentication element. Based on this mapping, the security module is thus configured to grant the user with access to one of the access spaces on condition of being mapped to the one or more types of personal authentication element associated with the authentication request for the user, and on condition those elements are verified.

The method continues with the processing module encoding the data segment in accordance with an error coding dispersed storage function to produce a plurality of error coded data slices. The method continues with the processing module generating a slice name for an error coded data slice of the plurality of error coded data slices, wherein the slice name includes a dispersed storage routing information section and a data identification section. The method continues with the processing module performing a securing function on at least the data identification section to produce a secure data identification section. The method continues with the processing module replacing, within the slice name, the data identification section with the secure data identification section to produce a secure slice name.

A discrete point-of-sale (POS) terminal interfaces with one party wishing to initiate a financial transaction with another party. The discrete POS terminal has a local transaction process for initial validating and enforcing of business rules governing the transaction with the one party and generating a transaction key confirming that the transaction is authorised on validating the transaction with the governing host. A facilitator device reads the transaction key on being supplied with same by the one party and communicates with the governing host to complete the transaction using a facilitator POS terminal. The discrete POS terminal is located separately and can be accessed and operated independently by the one party offline of any point-of-sale activity involving the facilitator POS terminal and the facilitator device.
