The system provides outputs that are useful in optimizing the enterprise performance of a business. The system, process and method are grounded in an established logical framework for systematically classifying areas of business concerns.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and apparatus for classifying and comparing similar documents using base templates. The method comprises accessing a document; extracting metadata from the document; matching the metadata to at least one base template of a plurality of base templates; and storing the document with one or more similar documents, wherein the one or more similar documents are documents that match the at least one base template.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for obtaining and analysing social data. The obtained social data and the determined relationships can be used to compose new social data and determine transmission parameters of the new social data. A method performed by a computing device or server system includes obtaining social data from one or more data streams, filtering the social data to obtain filtered social data, analysing the filtered social data to determine one or more relationships, and outputting the filtered social data and the one or more relationships in association with each other.

Abstract: A process, system and computer software are provided to facilitate at least one recommendation to one or more users and/or one or more applications using multidimensional data. In particular, a multidimensional space is defined, wherein each dimension is capable of providing variable information. At least one dimension corresponds to user profiles. The multidimensional space is filled with multidimensional data corresponding to dimensions of the multidimensional space. Then, information from the multidimensional space is retrieved. Further, the recommendation is generated based on the retrieved information. In addition, it is possible to generate a recommendation-specific query. This can be performed by generating the recommendation-specific query to access a multidimensional cube and retrieve data stored therein. Then, the recommendation can be issued based on the data retrieved from the multidimensional cube.

Abstract: Embodiments for a Mining Data Records based on Anchor Trees (MiBAT) process are disclosed. In accordance with at least one embodiment, the MiBAT process extracts data records containing user-generated content from web documents. The web document is processed into a Document Object Model (DOM) tree in which sub-trees of the DOM tree represent the data records of the web document. Domain constraints are used to locate structured portions of the DOM tree. Anchor trees are then located as being sets of sibling sub-trees which contain the domain constraints. The anchor trees are then used to determine a record boundary (i.e. the start offset and length) of the data records. Finally, the data records are extracted based on the anchor trees and the record boundaries.

Abstract: Access to a data element stored within a database object is controlled. A request is received from a user to perform an operation in relation to the database object, the operation including retrieval of information from the data element of the database object. Prior to retrieving information from the data element, a determination is made whether at least a portion of the information from the data element is subject to masking in accordance with an access policy. In response to determining that information from the data element is subject to masking, the request is modified to require that information from the data element be retrieved in a masked condition.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method for creating a methodology implementation that supplements a business application are described. In one embodiment, a comprehensive customer engagement methodology is maintained on a server and defines processes and disciplines related to the business application. A series of requests is received from a collaborative computing environment. The series of requests collectively represent a request for a collection of documents and related metadata included in the comprehensive customer engagement methodology. The series of requests are then responded to by providing a copy of the collection of documents and related metadata.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for augmenting search using association information. Searches can be performed using a combination of index information and association information. In some examples, index information is stored in a first data store and association information is stored in a second data store. Search queries can be received and modified using association information. Modified search queries can be executed using a combination of index information and association information. Index information can be generated by indexing a set of documents. Association information can be generated by monitoring user activity occurring between users and a set of documents.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that manages access to data. During operation, the system provides a graph-based data model of the data, wherein the graph-based model comprises a set of nodes and a set of directed edges among the nodes. Next, the system stores the graph-based data model in a set of partitions, wherein each partition from the set of partitions includes one or more nodes from the set of nodes and all outgoing edges from the one or more nodes. Finally, the system enables lookup of a set of outgoing edges associated with a source node from the one or more nodes.

Abstract: A computer identifies at least one common content element used by each of at least two users from at least one communication by each of the at least two users. Responsive to one of the at least two users constructing content for a potential communication to the other of the at least two users, the computer accesses the at least one common content element for use by at least one content prediction service enabled for presenting one or more possible content elements comprising the at least one common content element for user selection during construction of the content for the potential communication.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to establishing a metadata repository that aggregates metadata for a plurality of data sources, inferring data source metadata at a metadata repository and to providing recommendations to data managers based on aggregated inputs. In one scenario, a computer system establishes a reference to one or more data sources, where each data source includes data elements. The computer system receives a data request for specified data elements stored on the data sources and accesses the established references to determine which data source the specified data elements are stored on. The computer system then retrieves at least one of the specified data elements from its determined data source and sends the retrieved data elements to a specified computer system, along with an indication of additional data elements that are relevant to the received data request, and a further indication of how those additional data elements are to be accessed.

In one example, a method of attaching at least one application to the computing system includes identifying an application attach triggering event, and identifying at least one application based on the application attach triggering event.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for generating a recurring search for a research system that identifies documents as relevant to particular categories. The method generates a set of categories to include in the recurring search based on an identified user objective and an initial category by using relationship data that defines several different types of relationships between several different categories. The recurring search identifies documents from a particular period of time identified as relevant to the set of categories. The method identifies an optimal set of filters for removing specific types of documents that are relevant to the set of categories from the recurring search.

Abstract: The present invention is a software application that is capable of producing a music playlist or a video playlist according to upcoming concerts and a plurality of narrowing criteria. The software application can be accessed through a web browser. A concert database is searched to find all related concerts according to inputted concert narrowing criteria. A music playlist is generated by retrieving all artist tracks within a music database matching a plurality of music narrowing criteria. A video playlist is generated by retrieving all artist videos within a video database matching a plurality of video narrowing criteria. Music playing software and video playing software are provided to play the music playlist and the video playlist. The music playlist and the video playlist can continuously update according to updating criteria. Comedy and other non-music related acts at a concert can also be implemented into the music playlist and the video playlist.

Abstract: A data structure comprises a clump header table and an inline tree data structure. The inline tree, representing filterable data fields of hierarchically organized data records, comprises an alternating sequence of first-level binary string segments, each followed by one or more corresponding second-level binary string segments. Each clump header record includes an indicator of a location in the inline tree of corresponding binary string segments. A dedicated, specifically adapted conversion program generates the clump header file and the inline tree for storage on any computer-readable medium, and the inline tree can be read entirely into RAM to be searched or filtered. A dedicated, specifically adapted search and filter program is employed to list or enumerate retrieved data records. Run-time computer code generation can reduce time required for searching and filtering. One example includes spatial searching and filtering of data records that include spatial coordinates as data fields.

Abstract: A system searches a data collection using a bloom filter index to reduce the search scope to improve search efficiency, while at the same time allowing more flexible searches of the data collection using search terms containing any arbitrary string of data.

Abstract: Graphical user interface for filtering a population of items. The graphical user interface may be implemented as a method on a system comprising a computer server or other computing device. The system defines a library of available criteria to be used in filtering a population of items to identify items of interest. Each criterion has a graphical representation. The system receives an indication of at least one of the criterion to be applied to the population as a filter and also accepts an indication of a tier of the filter to which the selected criterion is to be associated. The system identifies a list of items of interest satisfying a current set of criteria defining the filter. A graphical representation of the filter is displayed by the system while it is being constructed by the user. In one embodiment, the items are securities such as stocks.

Abstract: Methods and comment association systems for associating one or more comments with one or more primary electronic documents are described. In one aspect, the method comprises: identifying, at a comment association system, one or more key terms from at least a portion of the one or more primary electronic documents; identifying, at the comment association system, one or more comments associated with the identified key terms; determining, at the comment association system, whether an identified comment is sufficiently related to the one or more primary electronic documents by calculating one or more relation score for that identified comment and comparing the relation score to one or more threshold; and if the identified comment is sufficiently related to the one or more primary electronic documents, then associating the identified comment with the one or more primary electronic documents at the comment association system.

Upon applying the filter to a dataset, if the specified field cannot be found in the dataset, a field in the dataset is selected as a default field to filter. Selecting what field in the dataset should be the default field is based on evaluating a set of rules. The default field is then filtered according to the filter criteria.

Abstract: A method for managing log messages in a system includes identifying a log message having a data value, filtering a first data value from a historical log record for a first interval, predicting whether any particular system events should occur when the first data value is filtered from a received log record and identifying the corresponding system events, initiating a second interval while filtering the first data value from a received log record, determining whether any non-predicted system events have occurred, and removing the filter for the first data value responsive to determining that a non-predicted system event has occurred.

Abstract: A mechanism is provided for cross-allocated block repair in a mounted file system. A set of cross-allocated blocks are identified from a plurality of blocks within an inode of the mounted file system, based on a corresponding bit associated with each cross-allocated block in a duplicated block information bitmap being in a first identified state. The set of cross-allocated blocks are repaired using a user-defined repair process. Then one or more of the set of cross-allocated blocks are deallocated based on results of the user-defined repair process.

Abstract: Interactive and dynamic exploring of filter criteria for large amounts of numerical data having multiple dimensions is described. Exploration occurs without excessive amounts of computation or querying of a database based on a data set summary that may be obtained from a server in a search system and applied by a client device. A data set is summarized so as to capture relationships between distributions of items in the data set along multiple dimensions. To explore filter criteria, a user may interactively adjust a range of values that act as a filter criteria along a dimension and determine an effect on a distribution of items along another dimension. The client device may apply the data summary in reverse to determine, based on user input specifying aspects of a distribution along one dimension, filter criteria for another dimension that would result in the specified distribution.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a particular number of best entities are found in a database with a spatial index that satisfy both spatial criteria and entity filtering criteria. For each of a set of targets in the spatial index whose bounding box meets the spatial criteria, a spatial score is calculated. If the spatial score is less than a minimum spatial score in a current map of best entities and the current map is full, the target is excluded from further consideration. If the spatial score is not less than the minimum spatial score, when the target is an entity that meets the entity filtering criteria, the current map is updated to store the entity and the spatial score for the entity. When each of the targets in the spatial index has been subject to test or excluded from consideration, the current map is returned as a final result.

Abstract: A system and method for information navigation and filtration is provided. One or more query terms are received from a user. A preliminary relevance of one or more objects associated with an enterprise system is determined based on the query terms. The preliminary relevance may be propagated between objects. At least one rating is assigned to the one or more objects based on the preliminary relevance. An overall relevance of the one or more objects is established based on the at least one rating. The one or more objects are ranked according to the overall relevance. Data is provided as search results comprised of the one or more objects according to the ranking to the user. The search results may then be filtered based on at least one selected, dynamically generated filter. The filtered search results may be dynamically generated and provided to the user.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for efficiently performing a series of searches. After an initial set of search results is determined from a data set based on a search query, one or more additional characters are added to the search query. In response, another search is performed, using the updated search query, but the new search is limited to searching the initial set of search results. Thus, the original data set is not accessed or searched again. This is possible due to the nature of the data. Each subsequent search is based on one or more characters that were added to a previous search query. Thus, each subsequent search is constrained to the search results that were identified in a previous search.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and subsystems for identifying and accessing multimedia content are provided. One system for identifying and accessing multimedia content from a network includes an encyclopedic database, a user library content file having data distilled from the encyclopedic database, a user local settings file having personal profile settings relating to filtering content, and a similarity file having data associating together the multimedia content. A local device is in data communication with the user library content file, the user local settings file, and the similarity file. Instructions stored on computer-readable media perform steps (when executed by a processor) for allowing: (a) the user library content file to be searched to obtain search results, the search results having been filtered using the personal profile settings; and (b) the similarity file to be accessed to obtain supplementary search results, the supplementary search results having been filtered using the personal profile settings.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes a method for transferring data from a source database configured with a first, hierarchical data structure to a destination database configured with a second, different data structure. Data from the source database can be parsed according to a plurality of source fields that define a portion of the hierarchical data structure. Content values stored in the source database for one or more subfields of the plurality of source fields can be accessed. A user interface can display the content values in a selectable format. A filter can be generated from selected content values. The data from the source database can be filtered using the filter. The data from the source database can be transformed according to the second, different structure of the destination database. The filter and transformed data can be loaded from the source database to the destination database.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided, for retrieving data and metadata according to a data harvesting criteria into an indexed repository, comprising providing a user interface allowing a user to define data harvesting criteria for adjusting a subset of data and metadata on an indexed repository. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for creating a contact list and pre-populated user accounts. An existing contact list associated with a first user is imported at a computer system. A second contact list is created for the first user for a user account associated with a social network service wherein the second contact list comprises members from the existing contact list. Members of the existing contact list whom already have a user account with the social network service are filtered into a first category. Members of the existing contact list whom do not have a user account with the social network service are filtered into a second category. Pre-populated user accounts associated with the social network service are created for the members in the second category.

Abstract: Roughly described, a network interface device is assigned a maximum extent-of-search. A hash function is applied to the header information of each incoming packet, to generate a hash code for the packet. The hash code designates a particular subset of the table within which the particular header information should be found, and an iterative search is made within that subset. If the search locates a matching entry before the search limit is exceeded, then the incoming data packet is delivered to the receive queue identified in the matching entry. But if the search reaches the search limit before a matching entry is located, then device delivers the packet to a default queue, such as a kernel queue, in the host computer system. The kernel is then responsible for delivering the packet to the correct endpoint.

Abstract: A method and system for segmented architecture for managing access to electronic documents having private data and public data is disclosed herein. A request for an electronic document is sent to a segmentation server, and the request becomes two queries: one for the public or non-confidential data of the electronic document and one for the private or confidential data of the electronic document. The segmentation server determines if the request is made over a private network or a public network to determine whether private data should be sent in response to the request.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a privacy management system 1) presenting, within a GUI, a patient list that initially includes a plurality of entries each comprising a plurality of obscured characters representative of patient information associated with a distinct patient included within a plurality of patients, 2) receiving user input representative of a search term comprising a sequence of one or more characters selected to identify a particular patient included within the plurality of patients, and 3) dynamically updating the patient list presented within the GUI in response to the user input by unobscuring a sequence of one or more obscured characters included in each entry of the patient list and that matches the sequence of one or more characters included in the search term and removing each entry included in the plurality of entries that does not include the search term from the patient list presented within the GUI.

Abstract: The present invention provides an information processing device that is capable of evaluating whether a desired load is being generated for application to a test-target system. The information processing device includes: a means that calculates the request rates per unit time on the basis of time series data for requests sent from a load generation device, aggregates the request rates on the basis of predetermined class data, and creates frequency distribution data; a means that acquires expected frequency distribution data, which is frequency distribution data expected when it is assumed that the distribution of request rates follows a desired probability distribution; and a means that carries out goodness-of-fit testing of the observed frequency distribution data with the probability distribution by using the created observed frequency distribution data and the acquired expected frequency distribution data.

Abstract: A method of collaborative filtering recommendations using implicit user actions is provided herein. The method includes the following steps: collecting user preference of content items from the crowd; generating for each real content item, a shadow content item; updating preference for the shadow items based on the user preference of corresponding real content items; feeding a collaborative recommendation engine a list of content items and their corresponding preferences, wherein the list comprises both real and shadow content items; and filtering out the shadow content items from an output of the recommendation engine, to yield a list of recommended real content items.

A media item in a stream of media items being presented to a user is identified. A content item that is relevant to the media item is determined. An entry is added to the entries of a relevant content listing. The entry includes a link to the content item. The entries in the relevant content listing are chronologically correlated to the stream that is being presented to the user. The relevant content listing is updated in a user interface that is being presented to the user.

Abstract: A system and method is provided of generating a map. In one aspect, the map is selected based on a location provided by a user and listings are selected based on their proximity to the location, whether they match a query provided by the user, and the number of matching listings within regions of the map.

Abstract: A system, a method and a computer readable storage medium for pre-processing data collected from one or more data sources more accurately summarize data. During the pre-processing, multiple raw data are summarized into a pre-processed datum. By using the pre-processed data entries, more accurate trend data may be generated. Alternatively, data entries are indexed and selectively retrieved based on indices. Decimation of data points are performed based on the indices without retrieving all the data sets from the database, reducing the data access time for returning a query result. Additional data sets may also be retrieved efficiently from the database using the indices.

Abstract: Methods and systems may involve storing device-specific user preference data to a local device and receiving a real-time request from a remote device. One or more user coefficients may be used to filter the device-specific user preference data in response to the request. In one example, the user preference data includes keyword data and the filtered keyword data is used to discover and present information to the user via the remote device.

Abstract: In a processing entity receiving one or more streams of data points from at least one data generating device; receiving, from a client device, a stream request indicating at least one of the data streams and including information indicating a stream modification; translating the information indicating a stream modification to selection criteria relative to the data points of the at least one data stream; modifying the at least one data stream by filtering the data stream based on the translated selection criteria; and providing the modified data stream to the client device.

Abstract: Some implementations provide techniques and arrangements to aggregate data from multiple issuers. An aggregator server may receive data associated with a user from an issuer. The data may include an issuer identifier associated with the issuer, account access data associated with the user, and a storage location identifier. The aggregator server may authenticate an identity of the issuer based on the issuer identifier and determine whether the issuer is authorized to provide the data for the user. In response to determining that the issuer is authorized to provide the data for the user, he aggregator server may identify an account associated with the user based on the account access data and store the data in the account associated with the user based at least partially on the storage location identifier.

Abstract: Additional content items that satisfy predefined criteria with respect to a user-selected content item are identified. The predefined criteria may be that the selected and additional content items have particular characteristics that are the same. Information corresponding to the selected and identified content items is presented to a user. Characteristics based on which additional content items may be identified may include data type, source, and absence of content. The information may be presented in a gallery view, which can be a thumbnails gallery for images or a playlist for digital audio or video.

Abstract: Techniques to search for data elements in a distributed computing environment are described. An apparatus may comprise a processor and a memory unit communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory unit may store a correlation module that when executed by the processor is operative to determine a target rank position at a target percentile rank within a total data set. The correlation module may determine a target data item at the target rank position for the total data set using candidate data items at candidate rank positions for each of multiple sorted data subsets of the total data set, and correlation values associated with each of the candidate data items. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for correlating metadata from a plurality of different sources. The methods and apparatus may use an order for the data sources. The metadata from each of the data sources may be divided or split into one or more chunks. The metadata from each of the chunks may be filtered and sorted, e.g., to ensure that the metadata relate to the same multimedia content. The metadata chunks from the first data source in the order and the second data source in the order may then be aligned to produce currently aligned metadata. The metadata data chunks from the next data source in the order may then be aligned with the currently aligned metadata to produce new currently aligned metadata. This process may be repeated until the metadata from all of the sources are aligned, thereby providing a set of correlated metadata.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for optimizing queries received by a database system that relies on an intelligent data storage server to manage storage for the database system. Storing compression units in hybrid columnar format, the storage manager evaluates simple predicates and only returns data blocks containing rows that satisfy those predicates. The returned data blocks are not necessarily stored persistently on disk. That is, the storage manager is not limited to returning disc block images. The hybrid columnar format enables optimizations that provide better performance when processing typical database workloads including both fetching rows by identifier and performing table scans.

Abstract: A system and method for defining, recording and making available for search, aggregation, and matching a user's availability, as determined by a filter constructed on the user's own personal preferences and on the matched persons' characteristics. In particular the system consists of a methods and an apparatus that elicits a) filter parameters based on one's preferences and b) the personal characteristics on which to be matched by other's filters, c) a storage component that records the information collected above, and d) a matching and aggregation component that will match a plurality of users' filters and spatio-temporal presence to unmask their availability.

Abstract: A method for determining a cause of events detected in a plurality of interactions includes: identifying, on a processor, a plurality of elements in the interactions; detecting, on the processor, a plurality of sequences of elements in the interactions; mining, on the processor, the plurality of sequences for generating a set of supported patterns; computing, on the processor, association rules from the set of supported patterns; and returning the computed association rules.
