Abstract: A system and method for facilitating comparing or juxtaposing characteristics or attributes of human resources of an enterprise. The example method includes displaying one or more representations of one or more human resources and providing various user options. A first user option enables a user to add a representation of a human resource to a shortlist. A second user option enables a user to initiate a comparison operation based one or more user selected human resources chosen from the shortlist. In a more specific embodiment, the comparison operation results in display of a comparison view that juxtaposes various attributes of human resources being compared. Example attributes include numbers of keyword matches appearing in human resource profiles, availability scores, locations, billing rates, qualification scores, and so on.

Abstract: After receiving a first user request including a first set of search keywords, a computer identifies a first set of chunks within multiple documents, wherein each chunk includes terms matching the first set of search keywords, and displays at least a portion of the first set of chunks, including highlighting the terms matching the first set of search keywords in the displayed portion in a first manner. After receiving a second user request to search among the documents for documents that satisfy a second set of search keywords, the computer identifies a second set of chunks within the documents, wherein each chunk includes terms matching the second set of search keywords, and displays at least a portion of the second set of chunks, including highlighting the terms matching the second set of search keywords in the displayed portion in a second manner that is different from the first manner.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing schema mapping and data generation. According to one exemplary method, a first mapping formula is obtained for transforming values associated with a source attribute into at least one value associated with a conceptual attribute. The source attribute values comprise a plurality of duplicate values, and the first mapping formula performing a common operation on the duplicate values. The method includes generating mapping data for mapping the conceptual attribute to a target attribute of a target model, and based on the mapping data and the first mapping formula, generating a second mapping formula for transforming the conceptual attribute value into at least one value associated with the target attribute.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically adjusting the user interface of a search engine in order to effectively communicate the improved relevancy achieved through real-time implicit re-ranking of search results is described. Real-time implicit re-ranking occurs without delay after every user action as the search is being conducted, so finding methods of immediately altering the search page without disrupting the user experience is important. Graphical icons next to search results are employed to enable generating and removing re-ranked results, referred to as “recommended” search results. Clusters based on the real-time user model are also displayed to facilitate query reformulations. Sponsored links are selected using the real-time user model along with a combination of RPC and CTR information and are displayed in a manner similar to the organic results, or used to replace the initial sponsored links altogether.

Abstract: Managing communications relationships may be accomplished by organizing a plurality of information elements and a plurality of users into a forum, with the forum being a virtual data structure organizing a plurality of single page views. Each single page view is organized into columns, with each column having a home row, a header row, and an action row. The header row indicates a title of the column for each of the columns of a single page view, and the action row indicates one or more commands available for execution for the each column of the single page view. The home row is the same for every column of each of the single page views and includes a selectable area that, upon selection by a user, navigates to a single page view associated with a home page view. Actions may be performed on information elements in columns of selected single page views.

Abstract: A system and method for centralized statistical analysis and control of power consumption is provided. The centralized statistical analysis, performed by a centralized power utility management system, may then be compared with one or more goals of the customer. Based on the comparison of the statistical analysis with the one or more goals of the customer, one or more actions may be taken including controlling one or more appliances resident at the customer premises.

In an embodiment, the online tool may be used to create or modify a schema. Modifying a schema may include adding or modifying or deleting data objects. Abstract: A data assignment column, a first data element column, and a second data element column are presented in a graphical user interface, wherein the first and second data element columns show data elements stored in a database. First user input selecting one or more data elements in the first data column is received. Second user input in one or more of the data assignment elements indicates selection of one or more data elements of the second data column. The selected one or more data elements in the first data column are associated in the database with the selected one or more data elements in the second data column.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and associated processes for generating recommendations for users based on usage, among other things. These systems and processes are described in the context of an interactive computing system that enables users to download applications for mobile devices (such as phones) or for other computing devices. Users' interactions with applications once they are downloaded can be observed and tracked, with such usage data being collected and provided to the interactive computing system. The interactive computing system can include a recommendation system or service that processes the usage data from a plurality of users to detect usage patterns. Using these usage patterns, among possibly other data, the recommendation system can recommend applications to users for download.

Abstract: A system and method for providing job recommendations based on user behavior or characteristics are disclosed herein. The job recommendations are configured in accordance with a data set based on relational analysis of previous users' activity, or matches between job postings and the user's resume or user profile information. The presentation of job recommendations is triggered, configured, and provided transparently to the user.

At each stage of the process views of current transaction/transfer initiations may be viewed. Transactions that have been successfully initiated may be confirmed. Incomplete or unsuccessful initiation may be reconciled for further action by a user. Templates and transfers may be grouped and sorted.

Abstract: Building a semantics graph for an enterprise communication network can include calculating a distance metric between a first signifier and a second signifier associated with an enterprise communication network, wherein the distance metric includes a plurality of relationships defined based on a frequency of co-occurrences of the first signifier and the second signifier, and building a semantics graph for the enterprise communication network using the calculated distance metric.

The method generally includes constructing a composite data definition for items which are to be identified and parsing input data using the data definition. Abstract: A system and method of managing interests and activities of residents and potential residents in a multi-unit building are provided. The method comprises: creating and maintaining a first set of records in the database for tenants, each record in the first set of records including fields for a name, contact information, building and interests; creating and maintaining a second set of records in the database for buildings, records in the second set including fields for a building name, address and amenities; creating and maintaining a third set of records in the database for activities, records in the third set including fields for an activity name, organizer, site, participants and activity details; analyzing the database to identify a set of tenant records in the first set of records that match an activity in the third set; and generating and sending notifications using contact information in the set of tenant records relating to the activity.

A user makes a series of increasingly granular selections to specify the type of medium to be built, such as a webpage. A query-reply communications protocol is used to identify relevant content for building the webpage from network resources. A resource is queried to determine whether the resource contains any relevant content. The response from the resource, if affirmative, includes the requested content. The query communications are formulated to conduct a keyword type search of the resource. The resource response includes the search results.

Abstract: A workflow application allows users to store, manage, and perform tasks related to workflows comprised of ordered sets of documents. The application provides an interface for creating and managing a workflow. Each document added to the workflow is assigned to a particular position in the workflow. Via the interface, the user saves data defining the workflow. In this manner, the workflow may be shared or preserved for subsequent re-use. The application allows a user to perform various tasks with respect to the workflow. Via an interface control presented by the application, the user instigates such tasks. In response, the application causes the task to be performed for each document in the workflow in an order corresponding to the arrangement of the documents within the workflow. For example, the application may render and print each document in the workflow. Or, the application may generate a combined workflow report.

Abstract: A user profile for a user of a social networking system may include experiences, such as work, educational, travel, and interests. The social networking system provides a profile page for a user's user profile that allows the user to tag other users as being involved in or otherwise associated with the user's experiences. Once another user is tagged in an experience, a corresponding tag is added to the tagged user's user profile, and that experience is added as well if not already included in the profile. Tagging users in experiences allows a viewer to see connections between experiences of users of the social networking system and promotes more detailed user profiles that contain experiences.

Abstract: System and method for integrated management of end-user information. The system is composed of a unique computer application and a single object-oriented database. The unique computer application creates and edits objects of information of different types. The objects of information of different types are organized into hierarchical structures providing high-level structured documents recorded into the single object-oriented database. The objects of information of different types are identified by a type identifier and an object identifier. Each type of object of information is described in terms of data fields and metadata fields. Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to providing enhanced database editing and reporting capabilities. Embodiments include a computer system receiving a database query including a request to edit one or more data items in the database. The computer system determines which data items would be affected by the requested data item edit. Based on the determination, the computer system accesses those data items that would be affected by the requested data item edit. The computer system retrieves metadata for each data item that would be affected by the requested data item edit. The metadata includes information at least partly indicating how the edit is to be performed. The computer system also performs the edit to affect the data items according to at least a portion of the retrieved metadata, regardless of how the edit would otherwise have been performed based on existing knowledge about the affected data items.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to database driven collaborative applications and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for generating a separable query design object and database schema through visual view editing. In one embodiment, an application generation method can be provided. The data includes a relationship status between the parties and the work, and details associated with the work. The online database is reviewed for preexisting confirmation of the relationships. Where the relationships are unconfirmed, confirmation requests are transmitted to the one or more other parties via the communications network seeking confirmation of the relationships. Upon confirming said relationships, the other parties are contacted seeking validation or correction of the details provided by the first party. Validated details or corrected details are then received from one or more of the other parties and stored on the online database.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for composing data queries. In one embodiment, a mapping template is provided to represent data in terms that are easy to understand. The mapping template is used to provide a tree structure made up of nodes that are queried. A query may be composed by navigating the tree structure to select nodes of interest and specifying predicates for the selected nodes. Once the query is composed, it may be executed against the data.

Abstract: A personal monitoring system of the present disclosure has a network and a sensing device. The sensing device has a network interface for coupling the sensing device to the network and is coupled to a user for sensing raw data at a discrete time related to the user. Additionally, the system has logic that associates a timestamp with the raw data at the discrete time and stores the raw data as raw history data indicative of a plurality of raw data from discrete times. Further, the logic determines, based upon the raw history data, whether an event has occurred.

Abstract: A system and method for creating extension fields for business objects are described. In various embodiments, a system includes modules to display business processes and business objects thereof in graphical user interface screens. In various embodiments, the system propagates created extension fields to other business objects via metadata derived from selections in the graphical user interface. In various embodiments, a method for propagating extension fields from one business object to another business object via a data flow between the two business objects is presented. In various embodiments, the method receives instructions from a graphical user interface for the propagation of an extension field and sends instructions to a backend module to propagate the extension field from the source business object to the other business object.

Abstract: A modeling system has a database that stores information of resources of a computer network service. A server f has a graphical user interface application for creating and editing service models. The application receives user-entered search criteria and searches information in the database based on the criteria. The search criteria can include a name, type, attribute, and other information of the resources. In addition, the search criteria can be a user-entered search query entered that has one or more logical or Boolean conditions relating resource attributes to attribute values. Using information obtained through searching, the application is used to create at least a portion of a service model of the computer network service. Once created, the application is used to initiate publishing of at least a portion of the service model to one or more impact managers of the computer network service.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to interfaces allowing a user to optimize a model which references and manipulates volumes of information present in an underlying database. An interface engine of an application layer, may communicate with the database engine of an underlying database layer, to provide a user with indicia of modeling performance. Thus for every modeling step, an interface engine could display performance indicia such as a number of database rows that are being referenced, and/or an amount of time consumed in retrieving the data from the database. This performance indicia, together with a structure of the model itself, can be processed by the interface engine through a repository of optimization recommendations. Recommendations from the repository may be published to the user, who is free to accept or reject them. Particular embodiments may leverage processing capacity of an in-memory database engine, to analyze database information gathered during modeling.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing devices capable of the reception and playback of one or more crafted media channels transmitted over an intermittent connection. An exemplary method of personalized rendering of media content includes receiving media files and file metadata defining attributes of the media files over a data link at a receiver. The method further includes executing, using a processor of the receiver, instructions stored in a memory of the receiver. The instructions cause the processor to store certain ones of the media files characterized by file metadata consistent with one or more channel profiles in the memory, remove certain of the ones of the media files stored within the memory, and sequence the ones of the media files stored within the memory for rendering based upon one or more of the channel profiles.

Respective areas of the display device are controlled to provide visual representations of each of the events, each respective area controlled according to the priority ranking.

Abstract: A system acquires geocoded data, smoothes the geocoded data, and displays the smoothed geocoded data in a graphical visualization representative of the physical locations of the acquired geocoded data. The system obtains an indication of operational parameters for smoothing geocoded data, such as a data precision level, viewing window, data characteristics, and smoothing parameters. The system generates an area map that includes entries for each location in the viewing window (or other predetermined area) according to the data precision level. The system may populate any entries without associated data values with a zero value. To process the geocoded data, the system may determine a vector of interest from the area map and generate, for example, a single smoothing matrix that smoothes each of the values in the vector of interest. The system applies the smoothing matrix to the vector of interest.

Abstract: A database file generation system receives, from a user via a user interface, a set of entities and at least one attribute that is associated with each entity. The system will generate one or more database files in an intermediate language. The database files may include one or more relationships for each entity, one or more rules that define how a result will be sent to a database in response to a query, and one or more rules that define how a result will be retrieved from a database in response to a query. The system will then apply the database files to a database library to generate a database comprising the entities, the relationships and the rules.

A first plurality of users has an edit privilege to edit the hierarchical data structure. A user selection of a region in the portion of the hierarchical data structure is obtained. In response to the user selection of the region, there is displayed, for each respective user in the first plurality of users, one or more edits associated with the respective user in a corresponding independent panel in a plurality of panels. This plurality of panels is displayed independently of the hierarchical data structure. In some instances, each user in a second plurality of users has review privileges to comment on the hierarchical data structure. One or more comments associated with a user in the second plurality of users is displayed in a same or different panel in the plurality of panels. A comment in the one or more comments is distinct from the one or more edits.

Abstract: Metadata is associated with media elements in a content store during automatic composition of media articles. The metadata includes relationship data indicating how what is portrayed by that media element relates to what is portrayed by one or more other media elements. Because relationship metadata is included media articles can be generated automatically with the need for the production of a detailed framework describing that media article.
