Abstract: Methods and systems for preprocessing a drawing to enhance its usability for subsequent viewing or modification by simplifying information displayed in the drawing, reducing the size of the drawing file, and removing unnecessary data. The invention also includes a wizard function that can record many of the functions or steps taken by a user to modify a drawing and then be used to preprocess a similar type of drawing using the recorded functions and steps.

Abstract: A combinatorial annotated image set consists of photographic images of a given subject and meta data concerning the images. The meta data includes labels which may consist of several forms including photographs of objects and English phrases. A method is described herein to generate combinatorial annotated image sets having a plurality of images and labels.

Abstract: An approach for responding to a text-based query for a digital image is provided. A request that identifies one or more keywords is received. A number of annotated digital images are selected. Each selected annotated digital image has a bounded region, on its appearance, that has an annotation associated with at least one of the keywords. A set of candidate digital images is selected for each annotated digital image. The set of candidate images, for a particular annotated digital image, are the digital images, of a set of digital images, which have an appearance that is most similar to the particular annotated digital image. The sets of candidate images are aggregated into a single set of digital images. A response is generated that identifies those digital images in the single set of digital images which are most responsive to the one or more keywords.

Abstract: Techniques are described to increase the diversity or focus of image search results. A user submits an original query to search for images. A server generates a first results set by executing the original query using metadata associated with each image. The server selects, from the first results set, a specified number of results ranked highest and generates a list of terms from the metadata of each of the results selected. The terms may be only the tags of the results. The server generates an updated query using terms in the list that may be weighted based on the frequency of the term in the list or include only a specified number of the highest occurring terms in the list. The server generates a second results set by executing the updated query using metadata associated with each image. The second results set is then stored and displayed to the user.

Abstract: Even when a character of an event to be photographed or a user's photographing disposition varies, photographs can be grouped with high precision. The proximate data selecting unit (photographing time distance base proximate data selecting unit 1) selects, as a proximate photograph, a photograph having a photographing time satisfying constraint on a time distance from a determination time determined in each adjacent photographs block as a time block sandwiched by photographing times of two photographs adjacent to each other in a group of photographs aligned in the order of photographing based on time series photographing time information and outputs proximate data designation information for designating photographing time data of the proximate photograph.

Abstract: A web searching method and a terminal for the web searching method, the web searching method including: extracting map information about a specific geographic area that is designated via a map displayed on a screen of the terminal; requesting a server to perform a web search related to the specific geographic area according to the map information; receiving a link information list from the server and displaying the link information list on the screen, wherein the link information list is about a plurality of web pages matched with the map information about the specific geographic area; and browsing a web page corresponding to link information selected from among the link information list.

Abstract: A system and method for defining layout of an electronic business card reads a multimedia message to which the electronic business card is attached from a storage, analyzes the multimedia message to retrieve image information and audio information of the multimedia message, and parses the electronic business card to retrieve text information of the electronic business card. The system and method further sets associations between the text information in each paragraph of the electronic business card and the image information and the audio information of the multimedia message, sets display layout and display duration of the associated text information and image information, and displays the text information of the electronic business card accompanied by the image and audio information of the multimedia messages according to the associations, the display layout and display duration.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for identifying terrestrial objects that have changed in a certain manner. One embodiment of the method includes receiving a query that includes one or more inputs, which are related to 1) a first terrestrial object (“first object”) and 2) source change-detection information that describes change associated with the first object; applying the query to a dataset that includes indexed information that describes the imagery; based on the one or more inputs, receiving a query result by identifying a set of regions in the dataset that are respectively associated with change information that is similar to that of the source change-detection information; and presenting on a presentation device indications of at least a portion of the identified set of regions.

Abstract: A system processes medical report data associated with different types of imaging modality devices to provide a composite examination report. An acquisition processor in the system acquires multi-modality medical imaging examination report data for examinations performed on a patient by different types of imaging modality device. A report processor processes acquired multi-modality medical imaging examination report data items by, in response to predetermined selection riles, selecting between individual data items in the acquired multi-modality medical imaging examination report data items to provide a single individual data item for incorporation in a composite report. The report processor maps individual data items including the single individual data item in the acquired multi-modality medical imaging examination report data items to corresponding data fields in a composite report data structure in memory in response to predetermined mapping information.

Abstract: A system for preparing and managing patient-specific dose orders includes an order processing server configured to receive the patient-specific dose orders, define a queue of dose orders and distribute the dose orders to at least one dose preparation station. The dose preparation station is in bi-directional communication with the order processing server and has an interface for providing an operator with a protocol associated with each received drug order and specifying a set of steps to fill the drug order. Steps to fill the drug order are captured at the station and a display, positionable independent of the station outputs the dose order queue and metrics concerning activity at the dose preparation station. Systems for preparing patient-specific doses and a method for telepharmacy in which data captured while following the protocol are provided to a remote site for review and approval by a pharmacist.

Abstract: A navigation system includes a processing unit for generating route data relating to a route along which a vehicle has actually traveled, from position data acquired by a position acquiring unit, an image data acquiring section for acquiring image data, a first storage section for storing the image data acquired by the image acquiring unit according to groups of respective destinations, and a second storage section for storing the route data generated by the processing unit. A link data generating section is provided for correlating the respective destinations with the respective route data via link data. An outputting unit is configured to extract a group linked to a destination by the link data in response to a manual designation of a route data stored in the second storage section or to a manual or automatic designation of a designation included in that route data and then to output the image data included in that group from the first storage section to an outputting section.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for collecting viewer information associated with a user while the user is acquiring and/or viewing multimedia content. The viewer information is interpreted to determine an emotional characteristic. The emotional characteristic may be stored with the multimedia content. Interpretation of emotional characteristic can provide several gradations of user's preference (e.g., the degree to which the user likes the content of the multimedia). It also can provide a relative degree of importance of the content to the user. Additionally, interpretation of the emotional characteristic can be made in terms of one or more specific emotions (e.g., happiness, sadness, fear, anger, etc.) evoked by the multimedia content. Emotional characteristics of other user may also be stored in the metadata of the multimedia content.

Abstract: Described is a technology in which an image retrieval system is updated incrementally as new image data becomes available. Updating is incrementally performed and only triggered when the new image data is large enough or diverse enough relative to the image data currently in use for image retrieval. Incremental updating updates the leaf nodes of a vocabulary tree based upon the new image data. Each leaf node's feature frequency is evaluated against upper and/or lower threshold values, to modify the nodes of the tree based on the feature frequency.

Abstract: Described is a technology in which image near-duplicate retrieval is performed using similarities between patterns of query image words and patterns of database image words. In general, the image retrieval problems resulting from visual polysemy are reduced by using such visual patterns. Visual word vectors and visual pattern vectors are determined for the query image and a database image. These four vectors are used to determine similarity between the database image and the query image. The similarity scores may be used for ranking and/or re-ranking the database image similarity to the query image relative to other database images' similarity scores. Also described is expanding a query visual word of the query image to a set of visual words that are visual synonyms with the query visual word, to help reduce image retrieval problems resulting from visual synonymy.

Abstract: A polyline tree representation of a coronary artery tree imaged in a volume data set is obtained, and its topology is extracted to give a topological representation indicating the relative positions of vessels in the tree. The topological representation is compared with a set of topological rules to find possible anatomical classifications for each vessel, and a set of candidate labeled polyline trees is generated by labeling the polyline tree with labels showing each combination of possible anatomical classifications.

Abstract: In order to provide a technology which allows efficient understanding of images of a disease locus and diagnosis supporting information for the images, an information processing apparatus comprises: an input unit which inputs object identification information for identifying an object; an acquiring unit which acquires one or more schemas related to the object and medical image data related to the schema, an identification unit which identifies a disease locus region in medical image data respectively related to each of the one or more schemas, a time-series schema generating unit which generates a time-series schema of the disease locus, a time-series image data generating unit which generates time-series image data of the disease locus, and a display output unit which synchronizes and outputs the time-series schema of the disease locus and the time-series image data of the disease locus.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of automatic tagging of image data taken at geographical locations, which represent points of interest (POI). In addition to the image data, each image file contains image metadata, which is structured information about the image data resources. The metadata of a POI includes its title, description, associated keywords, geographical identification data, etc., and it describes the POI as a resource of information. Each POI has its unique identifier that connects it to a record in a database, which contains the metadata of a plurality of POIs. The auto-tagging method, subject to the present invention, identifies the POI where image data has been taken. It then retrieves POI metadata from the database or reads it directly from an information tag placed within the POI, and assigns this metadata to all the image files containing image data taken at the POI.

Abstract: The apparatus for registering face identification features can eliminate time and effort for manually retrieving and preparing face images by being provided with a face image retrieving portion 11 for retrieving a face image of a person via a network using the person's name as a keyword, a face feature extracting portion 12 for extracting features, which greatly influence identification of a person, from the face images retrieved by the face image retrieving portion 11, and a celebrity name, face image and feature database 13 for registering the face images retrieved by the face image retrieving portion 11 and the face features extracted by the face feature extracting portion 12 in a state where they are associated with the person's names.

Abstract: A method analyzes the visual content of media such as videos for collecting together visually-similar appearances in their constituent images (e.g. same scenes, same objects, faces of the same people.) As a result, the most relevant and salient (of clearest and largest presence) visual appearances depicted in the videos are presented to the user, both for the sake of summarizing the video content for the users to “see before they watch” (that is, judge by the depicted video content in a filmstrip-like summary whether they want to mouse-click on the video and actually spend time watching it), as well as for allowing to users to further refine their video search result set according to the most relevant and salient video content returned (e.g. largest screen-time faces).

Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method, system, or program that automatically associates background music with an image slideshow. The embodiment can receive a selected image collection, extract metadata from the image collection, and associate audio files with the image collection based on the metadata. The embodiment will then prompt concurrent playing of the audio file while the image collection is displayed. The metadata identifies a theme for the image collection which can form the basis for associating the audio file with the image collection.

Abstract: A method for searching a database comprising data related to a plurality of fingerprints. In step 301, two or more feature points in an image of an unknown fingerprint are identified. A plurality of properties are generated in step 302. The plurality of properties are based on the two or more feature points. In step 303, a number comprising a plurality of digits, e.g. binary digits, is assigned to each of the plurality of properties. In a subsequent step, step 304, a numeric representation of said fingerprint is generated based on the assigned numbers. The numeric representation is generated by interleaving the plurality of digits, such that the digits of the numeric representation are arranged in an interleaved or intertwined manner within the numeric representation. In step 305, the numeric representation is used as a search argument when searching the database. The invention also relates to an apparatus and computer program product.

Abstract: A global tag for an image is received identifies one or more objects in the image, and a region-specific tag for the image identifies one or more objects in a region of the image. The global tag and the region-specific tag are stored with the image. Displayed, along with the image, is an identifier for each of the one or more objects identified in the global tag, and an identifier for each of the one or more objects identified in the region-specific tag. Different users are able to maintain different names for the same person, allowing the same tag of the image to be used as the basis for displaying the image with different names for the different users. Additionally, the tags can be used as a basis for generating a credits list of people that are included in a compilation of images.

Abstract: A computer readable medium storing a program causing a computer to execute a process for managing image information, the process includes: accepting image information and registration destination information that indicates a registration destination of the image information; acquiring a registration condition determined based on feature information of the image information that is allowed to be registered in the registration destination indicated by the accepted registration destination information; extracting the feature information from the accepted image information; and registering the accepted image information in the registration destination when the extracted feature information satisfies the acquired registration condition.

At the client, the client-side multi-component image is composited from the image data records transmitted the composited client-side multi-component image is displayed.

Abstract: Cell phones and other portable devices are equipped with a variety of technologies by which existing functionality can be improved, and new functionality can be provided. Some relate to visual search capabilities, and determining appropriate actions responsive to different image inputs. Others relate to processing of image data. Still others concern metadata generation, processing, and representation. Yet others relate to coping with fixed focus limitations of cell phone cameras, e.g., in reading digital watermark data. Abstract: A mobile terminal and method for automatic geotagging are disclosed. Abstract: A system is provided for acquiring and storing field information, comprising field devices operable to gather field information and receive updated file information. The field devices may be placed in cradles, which facilitate the transfer of the field and file information. A network is provided for receiving the field information from the field devices and transferring the field information to field devices located in the cradles. The system also provides a server operable to receive the field information from the network, store the field information in data tables assigned to at least one client, and transmit updated field information to the network.

Abstract: Registration and classification of non-textual information, such as digital images and video is described. Image searching and comparison of the images is also described. The digital images are indexed (i.e., each image is assigned a unique numerical parameter and/or a plurality of numerical parameters). The resulting index files are stored in a database that can be quickly searched because the index files are universal numerical files that are significantly smaller in size than their source images. Image search queries are also indexed to generate an index file, which is then compared with the stored index files. A similarity score is also calculated to rank the similar images based on the index file-to-index file comparison.

Abstract: In a disclosed method for creating a pipe circuit, a diagram is displayed on a display screen. The diagram includes representations of multiple pipes to be included in the pipe circuit, and a line number corresponding to each of the pipes. Selection input indicative of each of the pipes is received in sequence, and the pipe circuit is assigned a pipe circuit number. A described computer system includes a display screen, a memory, and one or more processors. The memory contains instructions for: displaying the diagram on the display screen, parsing the line numbers to capture engineering data for the pipe circuit, changing a display color of each of the representations of the pipes to a selected color, and exporting information about each of the pipes in the pipe circuit to a database. The processor(s) fetch the instructions from the memory and execute the instructions.

The storage means stores the pieces of reduced information, including thumbnail images, image clips/low-quality images, video clips, audio visualization moving images, audio representative colors, variation-related colors, and image representative colors, which are extracted by the digital content reduced information extraction means.

The analytics may provide activity recognition from images. A dynamic social network may be constructed from information provided by the video analytics. Analysis of a constructed social network may reveal further information which can be available for improving dynamic social network construction.

Abstract: An electronic system for creating customized product proposals stores a plurality of pictures and text segments to be used as building blocks in creating the proposal. The pictures may include various products, environments in which the products may be used, and available product options. The text segments may include textual descriptions of the product, environments in which the product may be used, and its performance specifications. The system queries a user to determine a customer's needs and interests. Based upon the answers to the queries, tae system selects the appropriate picture and text building blocks to fill in proposal templates. The system can print the completed proposal templates to provide the user with a customized, printed proposal that describes features and benefits of a product, in a particular environment, that are of interest to the customer who is to receive the proposal.

Abstract: This invention relates to methods for monitoring the anatomy of an individual, which methods comprise the steps of: (i) subjecting a healthy or asymptomatic individual to non-invasive analysis techniques, such as imaging or acoustic techniques, to obtain images or data on determined cells, tissue(s) or organs, at different time points over a period of more than one month, preferably over years; (ii) collecting the images or data in a database; (iii) comparing the images or data to the images or data previously acquired for the same individual, in essentially the same conditions; wherein said comparison of images or data obtained at different time points allows definition of non-pathological baseline anatomy for this individual.

Abstract: A method for associating images stored a memory associated with an online server. The method includes receiving a first file having a first file format and a second file having a second file format, where the first file is associated with a file size that is smaller than a file size associated with the second file. The method further includes associating the first file with the second file, where an image associated with the first file and the second file, when selected by a user, allows the user to access each of the first file and the second file. Advantageously, since one file can be associated with (or “entangled with”) another file, a user of an online storage system can more easily organize and locate related files.

Abstract: The data efficiency of medical image management system is improved. PACS (1) comprises server (2), viewer (3) and console (4) all connected to network (N). The console (4) controls the photographing operation of modality (5) and transmits status information indicating the status of progress status of the photographing operation to the server (2). Accordingly, not only the control of the photographing operation of modality (5) but also the reproduction and display of medical image data and memory management thereof can be carried out on the PACS (1) side, so that failures, such as data generation for compensating for any variance of work flow and generation of useless communication data within the PACS (1), can be avoided.

Abstract: A digital image file display system includes a storage device and a DPF. The storage device includes a marking module, a first sending module, and a first receiving module. The DPF includes a display module, a second sending module, and a second receiving module. The marking module assigns digital image files not previously displayed by the DPF to a list. The first sending module sends notification about the list to the DPF. The second receiving module receives the notification, and the second sending module sends a request to the storage device to display the digital image files of the list. The first receiving module receives the request, and the first sending module sends the list to the DPF. The second receiving module receives the list, and the display module displays the digital image file of the list or properties thereof. A digital image file display method is also provided.

Abstract: Upon adding a visible electronic signature to an electronic file, deterioration in visibility of characters is prevented by arranging a character image data of a portion overlapping with a region of the visible electronic signature in an upper position layer above the visible electronic signature. There are included a step for extracting a character image data from an image data, a step for generating a character image layer data in which only the character image data is described on a transparent background if a region where the visible electronic signature is arranged and the region of the character image data overlap with each other, and a step for generating an electronic file with a layered structure having the character image layer data, the visible electronic signature and the image data in that order from an upper position of the layered structure.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable medium for pre-fetching patient information using a DICOM protocol. A DICOM pre-fetch application communicates with a patient appointment application to retrieve upcoming patient appointment information. An external DICOM database server is queried, directly or indirectly, by the DICOM pre-fetch application to determine any medical image information stored on the external DICOM database server that is associated with the patient appointment information. The DICOM pre-fetch application retrieves the medical image information from the external DICOM database server and stores the medical image information on a local DICOM database server.

Abstract: A system for auto-deletion of image related data in an imaging system, includes an imaging system. The imaging system comprises a repository for storing image representative data, and is capable of archiving image representative data in the repository, and deleting image representative data from the repository. The system also includes an archiving system, coupled to the imaging system, for receiving image representative data from the imaging system and archiving the received data. The imaging system automatically deletes image representative data which has been archived from the repository.

Abstract: A method for protecting files of a digital photo frame includes an applying module of the digital photo frame detecting whether there are files in a storage system, which is accessed by the digital photo frame. If not, the applying module copies the files of the storage module to the storage system. If not, the applying module copies the files of the storage module to the storage system.

Abstract: The invention provides, in some aspects, systems for interaction with a control environment that includes controlled equipment along with control devices that monitor and control that controlled equipment. According to some of those aspects, such a system includes first functionality that generates output representing an operational status of the controlled equipment, as well as second functionality that generates output representing an operational of one or more of the control devices. An engine coordinates the first functionality and to the second functionality to generate an operational status of the control environment. A virtual reality environment generates, as a function of that operational status and one or more physical aspects of the control environment, a three-dimensional (“3D”) display of the control environment.

Abstract: Architecture for centralized photo storage for user profiles with consent and cardkey system integration. A picture picker can connect to a cardkey/security badge photo system to allow users to choose from badge photos. Consent is also captured by the picker to allow user photos to be used in other applications. Other applications can interact with the photo storage using standard web services and APIs for the user profile and user profile change log services. Centralized storage and insured accessibility enable applications to consume from the photo storage. The photo storage can also function as a virtual directory with distributed storage as utilized for geographical deployments. Extensions of the photo storage can include an add-in for a personal information manager application and a management agent for web-based collaboration and document management to copy photos from/to other directory structures.

Abstract: Described is a technology in which images initially ranked by some relevance estimate (e.g., according to text-based similarities) are re-ranked according to visual similarity with a user-selected image. A user-selected image is received and classified into an intention class, such as a scenery class, portrait class, and so forth. The intention class is used to determine how visual features of other images compare with visual features of the user-selected image. For example, the comparing operation may use different feature weighting depending on which intention class was determined for the user-selected image. The other images are re-ranked based upon their computed similarity to the user-selected image, and returned as query results. Retuning of the feature weights using actual user-provided relevance feedback is also described.

Abstract: A method for saving visual data that was captured from a data source is disclosed. Visual data is received via a network from a computing device coupled to the network. The visual data includes image data and non-image data. An item of content is generated based on the selected visual data from the data source for storage in a database coupled to the network.
