Abstract: A technique for monitoring software which efficiently communicates transaction trace data, including static and dynamic data, from an agent to a manager is disclosed. A tree data structure describes transactions as a sequence of transaction elements. Each branch may correspond to one type of transaction. The nodes along a branch may be associated with components of monitored software that are invoked to perform the transaction. A provisional branch may be constructed when an agent is unable to initially identify the transaction. Transaction data may be stored in association with the nodes in the provisional branch during the monitoring. After information needed to identify the transaction becomes available to the agent, the provisional branch is updated. The transaction data is reported in response to determining the branch in the tree data structure that matches the provisional branch.

Abstract: An apparatus performs a data migration from a database of a mainframe system to a rehosting solution database of an open system. An unload data set conversion module converts an unload data set, unloaded from the database of the mainframe system, into load files having standard format. A schema information generation module generates a schema information file having conversion rules by segment and field necessary for code system conversion of segment data in the load files having standard format. A code system conversion module converts the load files into load files having a code system of the open system pursuant to the schema information file, wherein the load files. A data load module sequentially reads segment data in the code-converted load files to load the segment data into the rehosting solution database.

Abstract: Methods and data structures are provided for allowing data mining with improved efficiency. During processing of a usage log (or multiple logs) for an activity, such as a usage logfile of network search activity, a common fact table is generated. The common fact table allows a plurality of auxiliary data structures to be formed from the common fact table. These auxiliary data structures are designed to allow users to submit queries against the contents of the data structure in order to investigate the data. The efficiency of access of the common fact table is improved by allowing users to access auxiliary data structures other than the auxiliary data structures that are associated with a user. Optionally, the common fact table and/or the auxiliary data structures can include dimension values that correspond to both pre-identified dimension values as well as dimension values that are identified during processing of the activity logfiles.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are presented for extracting, transforming, and loading data from one database to another database. For example, an extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) component may access an operational log of a given database in order to detect an update to the database. Upon detecting the update, the ETL component may extract a subset of data from the operational log, where the extraction of the subset of data is based on one or more rules. Once the subset of data has been extracted, the ETL component may transform the extracted subset of data from the operational log into a format for another, target database, where the data format for the other, target database is different from a data format for the given, source database. The ETL component may then load the subset of data transformed into the data format for the other, target database into the target database.

Abstract: A method is illustrated comprising receiving annotation data relating to an interface object, the interface object being selectable to invoke functionality of a software application. The method also includes associating the annotation data with the interface object. Further, the method includes storing the annotation data as part of an annotation file. A method is also illustrated that includes receiving an instruction to display annotation data associated with an interface object, the interface object being selectable to invoke functionality of a software application. Moreover, the method includes retrieving the annotation data based upon the association of the annotation data with the interface object. Additionally, the method includes displaying the annotation data proximate to the interface object within a display area.

Abstract: The techniques introduced herein provide for systems and methods for creating and managing a contention-free multi-path access to a distributed data set in a distributed processing system. In one embodiment, a distributed processing system comprises a plurality of compute nodes. The compute nodes are assembled into compute groups and configured such that each compute group has an attached or local storage system. Various data segments of the distributed data set are stored in data storage objects on the local storage system. The data storage objects are cross-mapped into each of the compute nodes in the compute group so that any compute node in the group can access any of the data segments stored in the local storage system via the respective data storage object.

Abstract: A system and method for injecting a node into a data description of an electronic form are provided. In one embodiment, the system comprises a request detector, an injection tool, a template module, and a storing module. The request detector may be configured to detect a request to include a new form object into an electronic form. The injection tool may be configured to determine that the data schema does not accommodate the new form object, and to automatically modify the data description by adding a node that is associated with the new form object. The template module may be configured to add the new form object into the electronic form to create a modified electronic form. The modified electronic form comprises the modified data description, while the data schema upon which the electronic form was originally based may remain unchanged.

Abstract: Under the present invention, an illustrative feature is to provide a method and system/structure for remotely controlling multiple computer systems by interacting with GUIs. Specifically, the present invention allows a controlled computer/system to be remotely controlled via a controlling computer/system. To this extent, data/action capture instrumentation is provided on the controlling system for automatically creating a representation of content of the GUI of the controlling system, for automatically observing a set of actions performed by a user on the GUI of the controlling system, for automatically creating a representation of the observed actions, and for sending to the controlled system the representation of the observed actions. In addition, execution instrumentation is provided on the controlled system for receiving the representation and replicating the actions on the controlled system by interacting with a GUI of the controlled system.

Abstract: Lifecycle of an entity residing within a hierarchy, may be managed according to corresponding status identifiers of a ruleset referenced by an engine. At design time, particular embodiments determine a finite set of fundamental statuses common to the entities, and covering the full lifecycle of each entity. A ruleset is created comprising rules accounting for each change in the status of the entity over its lifetime within the hierarchy. The status may be indicated by status identifiers, that in some embodiments are stored within a database. During runtime, an engine receives information from the entity. The engine references the ruleset including the status identifier information, and then propagates the status change of the entity to other entities in the same or different hierarchy levels based upon the ruleset. In this manner, the lifecycle of an entity within a hierarchy can be managed according to its status.

Abstract: An indexed hierarchical tree search structure implements incremental tree modification to add new registrants to the tree without requiring reconstruction of the tree. Only data within a leaf node that receives new data is used in the incremental tree modification. Consequently, the original data set used in the creation of the hierarchical tree may be deleted after construction of the tree.

Metadata associated with the pre-existing data model may be presented to the user to support the user's design effort. The metadata may inform and otherwise guide the user's design choices to reduce the likelihood of inconsistencies between the new data model and the pre-existing data model. The metadata may also be used to identify and warn the user of potential inconsistencies between the new data model and the pre-existing data model.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for analyzing through one-pass of unstructured time stamped data of a physical process. A distribution of time-stamped unstructured data is analyzed to identify a plurality of potential hierarchical structures for the unstructured data. A hierarchical analysis of the potential hierarchical structures is performed to determine an optimal frequency and a data sufficiency metric for the potential hierarchical structures. One of the potential hierarchical structures is selected as a selected hierarchical structure based on the data sufficiency metrics. The unstructured data is structured according to the selected hierarchical structure and the optimal frequency associated with the selected hierarchical structure, where said structuring of the unstructured data is performed via a single pass though the unstructured data. The identified statistical analysis of the physical process is performed using the structured data.

Abstract: According to example configurations as described herein, a workflow management application receives a set of interconnected flowchart elements defining a workflow. A particular flowchart element in the workflow represents a task to be jointly executed by one or more resources such as a computer, person, etc. To execute the particular flowchart element, the workflow management application obtains a list. The list can be dynamically generated during execution of the particular flowchart element. The list specifies the multiple users that are to jointly execute the task. The workflow management application can provide notification to the multiple users that the task is to be jointly executed by the multiple users. Additionally, the workflow management application provides, to each of the multiple users, a link to a user interface. The user interface provides further information to the multiple users and indicates details of how to carry out the task.
