The ash is readily dryable and dusty but this feature is obscured by the water treatment lime which has a tendency to retain water. Mixing of tonnage quantities is conducted at a site near the facility generating the ash; and the mixture is transported to the agricultural soil to be treated and applied at a quantity between 2 and 70 tons of the water-containing mixture per acre of the soil. The application quantity is sufficient to raise the level of the soil-water pH of acid soil to a value of at least 6.5 but not above about 7.5 and insufficient to add to the soil more than the governmental limits for several heavy metals.
