  • Patent number: 10680771
Abstract: Techniques are provided for combining different types of reference signals. A wireless communications network may be configured to allow a user equipment (UE) to combine multiple demodulation reference signals (DM-RSs) to support demodulation of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or other downlink transmissions, transmitted from a base station to the UE. The base station may provide explicit signaling that reference signals transmitted in two or more transmission time intervals may be combined, or a determination that reference signals transmitted in two or more transmission time intervals may be combined may be made implicitly based on system configuration and previous transmissions. Based on the explicit signaling and/or implicit determination, a UE may combine reference signals included in each of two or more reference signals for use in demodulation of downlink transmissions.

Abstract: An improved method of computer communication and networking with error-correction encoding and transmission using a punctured polar code construction that is based on polar code decomposition is provided. Advantageously, this allows sorting of a reliability sequence to be performed for a reduced-length vector to identify the information bit positions in the reduced-length polar code vector. Polar code decomposition is used to determine a number of information bits allocated to given reduced-length vector (e.g., K0 and K1). The polar code construction is a function of a puncturing pattern. In some embodiments, the puncturing pattern is a shortening pattern.

  • Patent number: 10630428
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed whereby a signal is transmitted from a wireless network to a wireless device, requesting automatic repeat-request, ARQ, feedback for certain indicated ARQ processes. This asynchronous approach addresses a problem with irregular ARQ feedback for dynamic time-division-duplexing, and also allows for relaxed processing-time constraints in the wireless device. An example method, in a wireless device, comprises receiving (610) from a wireless communication network, in a first transmission-time interval, a request for ARQ feedback, the request indicating one or more ARQ processes. The example method further comprises transmitting (620) to the wireless communication network, in a second transmission-time interval, ARQ feedback information for each of the one or more indicated ARQ processes.

  • Patent number: 10631200
Abstract: In a wireless communications system, packet error rate may be relatively low (e.g., five percent). Accordingly, receivers may successfully receive a first transmission the majority of the time. However, bandwidth may be used for retransmissions, which may be used relatively infrequently. Because retransmission packets do not necessarily have to be the same as transmission packets, transmission packets may be given more weight than retransmission packets. For example, transmission packets may be encoded with a higher bitrate than retransmission packets. In aspects, a transmitter may send a first transmission packet, including first data encoded with a first bitrate, and send a second transmission packet, including second data encoded with the first bitrate. The transmitter may send a first retransmission packet that includes the first data encoded with a second bitrate and the second data encoded with the second bitrate, and the first bitrate may be higher than the second bitrate.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques that cause a client device to initiate a policy-pull request to retrieve a policy update associated with the client device. Particularly, a Policy State Propagation (PSP) System may transmit a policy-pull notification to client device that is configured to cause the client device to initiate a request to retrieve the policy update, thereby substantially eliminating a delay between an actual policy update by the telecommunications service provider, and the client device receiving the policy update. The policy update may be based on an update of client profile data or network analytics data associated with operations of the client device on the telecommunications network. Further, the PSP system may generate a policy update data packet that includes the policy update. Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards selecting, by user equipment, a selected maximum transmission unit (MTU) packet size for wireless data transfer based on radio signal conditions. In one aspect, reference signal received power (RSRP) and reference signal received quality (RSRQ) are used to select the MTU packet size, e.g., by using RSRP and RSRQ as indices to a lookup table of predetermined MTU packet sizes, such as previously determined by field testing. In general, smaller MTU packet sizes are used with poorer quality radio signal conditions. The selected MTU packet size may be increased or decreased based on actual performance data and/or based on changed radio signal conditions, such as for a subsequent data transfer session. Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a retransmission system that uses a hybrid system to signal to a receiver the retransmission of codeblock groups to reduce network overhead and bandwidth. The amount of bandwidth needed to signal to a receiver which codeblock groups are being retransmitted is directly proportional to the number of codeblock groups. Therefore, during retransmission, if the number of a codeblock groups is below a predetermined threshold, then explicit signaling can be performed, where the transmitter sends a bit map identifying the codeblock groups being retransmitted. If the number of codeblock groups is above the threshold however, can use a codeblock group confirmation bit in the control information sent to the receiver, where the values of the bit can inform the receiver how the retransmission will be performed.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to outer coding in communications between a first network device and a second network device. A transport block (TB) and a first parity code block that is based on contents of the TB are transmitted from the first network device to the second network device. The first network device receives feedback information that is transmitted from the second network device. The feedback information indicates a decoding failure of the TB. The first network device generates a second parity check CB that is based on the contents of the TB and is different from the first parity check CB and transmits the second parity check CB to the second network device. The second network device receives the second parity check CB and performs error detection decoding of the TB based on the second parity check CB.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a processor-readable storage medium for wireless communication are provided. A transmitter transmits data packets to a receiver, encodes the data packets to generate parity packets, stores the parity packets in a retransmission buffer, receives information from the receiver indicating that a data packet was not correctly decoded, and transmits to the receiver the parity packets stored in the retransmission buffer for recovering the data packet not correctly decoded without retransmitting the data packet not correctly decoded. The transmitter may further retransmit to the receiver the parity packets. The transmitted data packets may be encoded at a medium access control (MAC) layer of the transmitter. The retransmission buffer may be located at a radio link control (RLC) layer or a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer of the transmitter. A reordering buffer at the receiver may be located at the RLC layer or PDCP layer.
