Abstract: A method (600) for recovering a set of display screen windows (402, 404, 406, 408) in a multi-window display screen (304). The method involves retaining window information as stored window information (SWI). The SWI includes a first arrangement for a first set of display screen windows (DSWs) displayed on the multi-window display screen at a first time. Each of the DSWs has respective content (420, 422, 424, 426). The method also involves using the SWI for redisplaying the first set of display screen windows in the first arrangement on the multi-window display at a second time. The second time is after the first time and follows an event causing the first set of display screen windows to be removed from the multi-window display screen. The redisplayed DSWs contain at least a portion of the respective content.

Abstract: There is presented a system and method enabling visual filtering of content. The system comprises a server, a content database storing content units and accessible through the server, and a filtering and display application. The filtering and display application is configured to enable visual filtering of the content units by filtering a plurality of graphical representations corresponding to a plurality of content units stored by the system, to extract a first plurality of graphical representations for displaying to a user, displaying the first plurality of graphical representations as active graphical representations selectable by the user in a first featured display, and dynamically filtering the first plurality of graphical representations and replacing the first featured display with another featured display of a first subset of active graphical representations selectable by the user according to an input received from the user.

Abstract: In some implementations, a method includes causing a display of a portion of a data presentation within a view in a graphical interface, where different portions of the data presentation are displayable. The method includes determining at least one current state of the device, and causing a display of one or more information areas within the view based on the current state, including determining a display mode from available display modes for each of the information areas. The available display modes include independent and dependent display modes, where the independent display mode causes an information area to be displayed within the view regardless of the displayed portion of the data presentation, and the dependent display mode causes the information area to be associated with one or more locations in the data presentation and displayed within the view based on an associated location being in the view.

Abstract: Real time communication is discussed that may be initiated and maintained from within an web-based application without leaving the context of the underlying application. Within the web-based application, a web frame or portlet is displayed that can maintain a separate and independent communication channel with a data resource and other external resources. When activated by a user of the web application, the web frame or portlet establishes a communication link with an external resource and another party that will take part in a communication exchange. The interaction between the user and the other participant are displayed from within and/or processed by the web frame or portlet without affecting the state of the underlying web application.

Abstract: An information processing device stores a window of an application and designation information for designating an external device associated with the window. The information processing device detects an external device located near the information processing device, and when multiple windows are displayed having an overlapping portion the information processing device identifies an external device associated with the multiple windows. Next, the information processing device determines whether there is a window associated with the detected external device, and if the window(s) exists the information processing device displays the window or any one of the windows in the foremost position.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for implementing a single-axis window manager on a mobile computing device to view and access multiple applications in a limited display area utilizing limited input capabilities. The mobile computing device initializes a virtual display space having a first dimension with a fixed size. For example, the virtual display space is initialized to have a horizontal dimension equal to the horizontal dimension of the display screen. At least one window is generated having a fixed size in the first dimension but also sizeable in a second direction. For example, the at least one window has a fixed horizontal dimension but is vertically sizeable. The at least one window is then inserted into the virtual display space and displayed on a display device.

Abstract: A device, which may have a touchscreen display, and methods for its operation are provided using a graphical user interface and an overlay user input interface such as a virtual keyboard. The graphical user interface may include one or more user interface elements displayed in a first region of the display that are actuatable to invoke a corresponding function. When the virtual keyboard is invoked for display in the same region, the underlying graphical user interface is redrawn with a further user interface element corresponding to at least one of the user interface elements previously displayed in the first region, so that the further user interface element is actuatable to invoke a command to carry out the corresponding function. In another embodiment, the virtual keyboard may be modified instead to provide an action key corresponding to a function related to an application executing on the device.

When an event is received, the angle of view of the navigation frame is adjusted to make the size of the navigation frame reduce and a window corresponding to the event is displayed in an area of the screen that is emptied due to the reduction of the navigation frame.

Abstract: An input device, wherein the screen (18a) of a display device (18) is divided into two regions, a region (A1) and a region (A2), and the icon switch displayed in the region including the position of an invisible pointer (P?) is selected. A software tool receives input of the post selection location for the mouse pointer icon. The post selection location defines a default location to move the mouse pointer icon in response to a window action taken on a window displayed in the display screen. In response to the window action in which the mouse pointer icon is initially displayed at a selection location corresponding to the window action, the mouse pointer icon is moved to the post selection location such that the mouse pointer icon is displayed at the post selection location in the display screen.

Abstract: A set of media items may be matched with a media arrangement that displays the media items in the set in a group of frames. The media arrangement may extend across an area larger than a viewable area of a display device. In order to determine the media items that appear within a viewable area, a list of media items may be divided into two portions, one on either side of a middle item in the list. If any part of a frame with which the middle item is associated is within an extended spatial area that extends beyond the viewable area, the middle item may be eliminated from the list, when no part of the frame with which the middle item is associated is within the extended area. The process may be repeated until it is determined that a part of a frame with which the middle item is associated is within the extended area.

A plurality of windows are displayed in the display region, including a first window and a second window. The client system detects a first input that corresponds to a request to change a state of one or more of the windows; and in response to detecting the first input, the client system ceases to display the first window in the display region, and displays a representation of the first window in the minimized window region. After ceasing to display the first window, the client system detects a second input that corresponds to a request to view content of the first window; and in response to detecting the second input, the client displays an interactive overlay that includes content of the first window and partially overlaps the display region.

Abstract: Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products for providing a user interface customizable to define state transitions of panes in a bounding window. For example, a bounding window including one or more resizable panes is displayed in a user interface on a display device. Breakpoints situated at respective spatial positions in the bounding window are graphically represented in the user interface. Each breakpoint defines a transition of a pane from one state to another when the pane is resized to traverse the breakpoint. The spatial position of one or more of the breakpoints can be updated in accordance with a request indicating user customization of breakpoints.

The method includes displaying a visual representation of an electronic document including a first page and a second page in an original order on a user interface generated on a touchscreen display, receiving movement data indicating that the touch has moved in a horizontal direction relative to the user interface, toward the second page. The method also includes altering the visual representation in response to release data such that the first page and the second page are presented in an altered order in the electronic document.

Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for displaying supplementary information on a graphical user interface. A request for supplementary information is received. The supplementary information is retrieved and displayed in a reserved display field in a graphical user interface. The reserved display field may be configured by a user to adapt to specific applications, but remains stationary throughout the user session. The reserved display field does not obstruct any other display fields in the graphical user interface. A request for supplementary information may be generated by using a mouse to first position a cursor over an active display element. A request for supplementary information associated with the active display element may be generated by clicking the mouse, or by holding the cursor stationary for a time interval greater than a threshold dwell time.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for storing, retrieving, and updating data stored in a persistent Name/Value storage container. The system and method combine similar data into data strings using a programming language referred to as Text-SQL that separates and relates the data using delimiters. The data strings are further combined into groups of like data strings that are also organized using delimiters. These groups of data strings are assigned a name and stored in a Name/Value storage container with the value being the grouped data string. The present invention uses simple dot-notation to parse the data strings into specific detailed information, which may be accomplished through an application programming interface (Text-SQL API) that provides functions for updating, deleting, retrieving, and storing data. The API utilizes a standard syntax for use with Cookies, HTML5 sessionStorage, and HTML5 localStorage providing cross-browser functionality and simplified programming.

Further the elements that comprise the graphical user interface are configured to present a summarized view of available actions and content, in order to simplify user interaction. The different views present different organizations of the interface elements and in some example display only certain ones of the modes of content in order to reduce the number of options a user must navigate to accomplish an objective. According to another aspect, methods and systems for streamlining user interaction with computer content are provided.

Abstract: The present invention includes various embodiments of a mobile app remote virtualization system and process that enables users of remote client devices to control mobile apps running in a host server environment. The resulting user experience is practically equivalent to running native mobile apps, even when such mobile apps require access to local client device resources, as well as when native versions of such mobile apps do not exist for the user's client device. The functionality afforded by the mobile app remote virtualization system and process of the present invention enables a variety of novel scenarios and “use cases” that have not previously been available to mobile device users. The maximum height of the video is determined using its aspect ratio and the dimensions of the display area in the video player. The control panel is removed from the display in the video player if this allows the video to be shown at its maximum height while preserving the video's resolution. The control panel is displayed in the video player if the video can be shown at its maximum height without removing the control panel from the display.

Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for visually emphasizing information displayed on a computing device. In one example, a method that includes receiving a first portion of a document for display by the computing device, the first portion of the document including multiple elements separated by one or more delimiters. Abstract: A method and computer-storage media for minimizing application windows based on a triggering event are provided. Embodiments of the present invention include determining that a triggering event has occurred with respect to a target window, automatically minimizing all of the minimizable application windows except the target application window, and generating an undo record that may be used to restore the minimized windows upon the determination that a second triggering event has occurred with respect to the target window. In one embodiment, the triggering event is shaking the target application window.
