Abstract: The present invention is a solution for detecting a spoofed command button in a pop-up window. The solution tracks the creation process of a pop-up window, detects the presence of command buttons in the pop-up window, verifies the value labeled on each command button in the pop-up window and determines a follow-up action generated from selecting a command button on the pop-up window.

Abstract: A method for providing a phonebook in a mobile terminal and a mobile terminal for performing the method are provided. The method for providing a phonebook in the mobile terminal includes displaying a phonebook list, searching, if a phonebook entry is selected from the phonebook entry list, for linkage information representing a specific phonebook entry, building a relationship diagram based on the linkage information, and displaying the relationship diagram graphically.

Abstract: A method that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, the steps of transmitting media content to a group of set top boxes for presentation with an overlay superimposed onto the media content, where the overlay can include a timeline corresponding to the presentation of the media content and receiving a first comment from a first set top box of the group of set top boxes, where the first comment is presentable with the overlay and the media content by the group of set top boxes. Additional steps can include receiving a tag generated at a first set top box during presentation of the media content, presenting the tag while the media content is presented, correlating the tag to a portion of the media content timeline and analyzing metadata associated with the portion of the media content timeline that is tagged to determine a first marketing parameter. Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method may be provided for controlling an operation of the mobile terminal. This may include displaying a first webpage on a display module, and if a second webpage is chosen to be displayed, determining whether the second webpage is provided by the same website that provides the first webpage. If the second webpage is provided by the same website that provides the first webpage, the first and second webpages may be merged into a third webpage and the third webpage may be displayed on the display module. Therefore, a plurality of webpages provided by a same webpage may be displayed at a same time by merging the webpages into a single webpage.

Abstract: Previewing content included in an enterprise database associated with an enterprise system is disclosed. A first indication is received for an overlay object associated with an object from the enterprise database that is being displayed. an action list is dynamically determined associated with the object being displayed using a first method to retrieve actions from the enterprise system that are associated with the object being displayed. The action list is provided to the overlay object. Content associated with the object is dynamically determined using a second method to retrieve content from the enterprise system. The content is provided to the overlay object. The overlay object is displayed to preview the content included in the enterprise database and to provide the action list.

Abstract: A pop-up display method and apparatus allows a user to selectively check a desired pop-up in a convenient manner. A screen is divided into a main page display portion and a pop-up display portion. A web page is displayed in the main page display portion, and a pop-up corresponding to the web page is displayed in the pop-up display portion. A preview image or short text of the pop-up may be extracted and displayed.

Abstract: Confirmation is provided each time a command is initiated at an application program in the form of a temporary non-modal user interface (UI) overlay that is displayed in front of the UI windows generated by the application program that received the command. The overlay includes a bounding shape having text contained therein that identifies the command. The overlay might also include a graphical, textual, or numerical indication of a value being adjusted by a user in conjunction with execution of the command. The overlay might be displayed by fading the display of the overlay in over a period of time. The display of the overlay may then be removed by fading the display of the overlay out over a period of time. The overlay might also be displayed at the same on-screen position each time it is displayed.

Abstract: Provided are a user interfacing display apparatus having improved operability without confusing the user as to setting displayed on a pop-up screen, and an image forming apparatus. When a copy ratio key as a detail setting key is selected on an LCD as a display section provided in the user interfacing display apparatus mounted on an image forming apparatus, the pop-up screen is displayed. At the same time, a display state of an interruption key is changed, so as to be displayed to inform that the interruption key is unavailable. While the pop-up screen is being displayed, a user is not allowed to select the interruption key. Thus, for example, on contrary to a case where process is switched to an interruption mode while the pop-up screen is being displayed, there will be no confusion as to the detail setting displayed on the pop-up screen before switching to the interruption mode.

A message display system can be operated by preventing display of messages when the display of the system is in a particular mode, such as one of full screen mode or presentation mode. A selection may be made as to which types of messages are to be displayed. Only those types of messages that are selected are displayed on a display of the system. A medium can have code thereon for causing a system to implement the method. An information handling system, such as a computer, can have a processor and memory for storing instructions to implement the method.

A button is not removed from the region when the cursor is positioned within the region.

Abstract: Saloot at its core is a money transferring service designed specifically around online voluntary micro payments, aka donations, tips, and other forms of reciprocation. It allows a web browser give amounts as small as a penny towards content they appreciate. Inherent to a voluntary payment is a power by the giver to choose when to give. Saloot.com utilizes this fact to tally these tips rather than attempt transactions at the time of each tip, which eliminates overbearing transaction charge issues for micro payments. Also with the transaction being delayed for a later date these pending tallies can be adjusted up or down, creating a certain impermanence which makes it safe to tip with-out filling in passwords or log-ins at each instance.

The rule comprises a reminder of the event. The reminder is presented according to the rule, and an acknowledgement of the reminder is received. A message is then communicated in real-time to similarly acknowledge a pending reminder that corresponds to the same event in another instance of the calendaring application.

Abstract: A graphical user interface allows a user to create an image having a pop-up menu which is exportable to a target computer without the creating user being required to know how to program in JAVASCRIPT™. Using menu selection in the application in which the image is running, the creating user may insert a pop-up menu instruction associated with an object and positioned at a desired location within the image. Abstract: A control element for use in a graphical user interface, which combines the display features of the list box element and the pop-up menu element into a single GUI control element. The combined menu list control element is capable of displaying data in multiple states thereby allowing to it to optimally use the available display space for presenting data to the user. By allowing menu list control element to display data as either a list or a menu, it combines the advantages of lists and menus while avoiding their disadvantages.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for providing Unified Communication (UC) service, which includes obtaining communication information displayed on a terminal where a mouse locates; triggering a corresponding UC service based on the communication information. The present invention also discloses a UC client. The UC client includes a communication information obtaining unit, capable of capturing communication information displayed on a terminal where a mouse locates, and a UC service unit, capable of triggering a corresponding UC service based on the communication information. In this way a user needs to move a cursor or press a key in the active interface to enter corresponding communication information into the UC client, therefore the complicated operations of manually keying in communication information or searching an address book in the UC client interface according to conventional technique are avoided and the users' burden will be relieved.

The current time is compared to the end time via a clock device associated with the computing device. Abstract: Improved methods and apparatuses are provided for determining when and how to display non-modal messages relating to user input portions of a graphical user interface (GUI). One method includes displaying at least one user input portion within a GUI and determining if the user input portion is in an invalid state by determining that valid user input associated with the user input portion has not been received. The method further includes displaying a non-modal message within the GUI. The non-modal message is visibly graphically associated with the user input portion. The method also includes automatically applying a focus of the GUI on the user input portion. As long as the focus of the GUI remains on the user input portion, the method includes displaying the non-modal message until the user input portion is determined to be in a valid state.

In one embodiment of the invention, a content navigational shortcut method can be provided. The method can include associating anchors with corresponding user interface elements in a markup language defined display. The method further can include listing references to a subset of the user interface elements in a quicklink list in the markup language defined display. Finally, the method can include setting focus in the markup language defined display to a corresponding one of the user interface elements at an associated one of the anchors in response to an activation of one of the references in the quicklink list.

Abstract: An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.

Abstract: Components and functionality can be implemented in an event management application to display events along a timeline. A display interval can be configured for the timeline and a scroll bar can allow scrolling to view different time periods on the timeline. When a given mouse-clickable portion is clicked on by a user, the hyper-link causes a web browser to display a site offering the item shown in the mouse-clickable portion for sale.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying letters and images on a touch screen of a terminal is disclosed. When a region on the touch screen is designated, in a block, according to a touch from a user, the at least one of letters and images contained in the designated block are displayed on an area in the touch screen, as a pop up screen. Thereby, users are able to more easily recognize the at least one of the letters and images currently designated by the block.

Abstract: This present invention describes an innovative solution in the area of indexing and searching binary files including various binary files such as multimedia files, including image files, mp3 files and other audio/video files from the public Internet. The invention introduces a way to index binary files such as multimedia files according to their content signatures, which uniquely identify themselves, and search for related files by walking through a graph database constructed during the index phase. The present invention can be used in a search engine and a download engine, as well as with text based index and search technologies. As a result, such extended usage will broaden a multimedia file's context and increase relevant accuracy of the keywords describing the context.

Abstract: Various embodiments enable detection of third party content sources that may pose a privacy risk to a user. In at least some embodiments, webpages navigated to via a browser can be processed to identify third party content sources that provide content for the webpages. Data may be stored to relate the third party content sources to webpages in which the third party content is encountered. The data may then be analyzed to determine when a particular third party is in a position to observe browsing habits of a user. Responsive to determining a privacy risk, notification may be output in a variety of ways to inform a user of potentially risky content. In at least some other embodiments, notification can be made by way of a user interface instrumentality that is automatically presented to a user to inform the user of a potentially risky third party content source.

Abstract: A method for browser software with a tabbed interface to suppress, or delay, the display of a dialog box that is initiated by an inactive, or background, tab. An indication may be provided to the user that a dialog box needing user attention may be provided. When that tab becomes active, and the web page on that tab becomes visible, the dialog box is then displayed. This suppression method may be applied to a variety of application programs.

Abstract: A user-activatable dashboard (also referred to as a unified interest layer) contains any number of user interface elements, referred to herein as “widgets,” for quick access by a user. In response to a command from a user, the dashboard is invoked and the widgets are shown on the screen. The user can activate the dashboard at any time, causing the dashboard to temporarily replace the existing user interface display on the user's screen. Once the dashboard has been activated, the user can interact with any or all of the widgets, and can configure the dashboard by adding, deleting, moving, or configuring individual widgets as desired. When the user wishes to return to the normal user interface he or she was working with, the user issues a command causing the dashboard to be dismissed. Once the dashboard has been dismissed, the previous user interface state is restored, allowing the user to resume normal interactions with the operating system.

Accordingly, a TV configuration such as audio parameters may be automatically set according only to the TV installation type.

Abstract: A method and system for notifying a user of an event or information using motion and transparency on a small screen display are provided. When an in-application event occurs or an indication that a new event has occurred, a notification window is created off display, and graphically animated on top of the current application display, in a small window which is un-obtrusive to user interaction in the active application. A user may set preferences for display location, size, transparency, color, time displayed, and content, and each window may vary based on the notification type, allowing users to quickly glance and identify the information displayed.

Abstract: Animations enhance viewing and consumption of electronic items that are presented to a user on a screen of a computing device. These animations may occur in response to receiving an instruction to move a position of a cursor displayed on the screen of the computing device. A user may trigger this instruction, for instance, by selecting a portion of the electronic content with use of the cursor. In response to the selection, the cursor or some other entity may undergo some form of animation. This animation may notify the user that the selection is being processed, and may also indicate a future position of the cursor at a time after the selection is processed.

Abstract: A statistical inventory management system may optimize inventory investment using historical usage and/or consumption of an inventory component by determining one or more target inventory levels (e.g., replenishment levels). Historical usage data may be summed for a plurality of at least partially non-overlapping time periods that may be each equal in duration to a supplier lead-time period for the component to create lead-time usage data. The lead-time usage data may be utilized to more accurately determine future inventory levels (e.g., target inventory levels) because the lead-time usage data may have a reduced variance compared to, for example, day-to-day usage.
