Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor of an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display, cause the processor to enable a user interface of the device, including presenting a list of items on the display, each item having content associated therewith, highlighting an item in the list by presenting a highlight marking on that item, translating the highlight marking within the list, in response to an object gliding along the display, and opening the content associated with the currently highlighted item, in response to a tap gesture on the display.

Abstract: In the present invention, a plurality of functions are allocated to respective rotary encoders (RE1 to RE5) from among numerous functions involved in ultrasonic diagnosis, and each of the rotary encoders selectively targets for operation each of the allocated plurality of functions. Names for the plurality of functions allocated to each of the rotary encoders are displayed as a bundle within respectively corresponding function menus (FM1 to FM5). Within each of the function menus, the name of the function that is currently being targeted for operation is given a special display mode. For example, the function menu (FM1) displays BbH and AIP, which are the names for two functions allocated to the rotary encoder (RE1), the lower AIP being displayed at a lower brightness than the higher BbH, to explicitly show that the current target for operation is BbH.

Abstract: A method for rendering an e-mail item listing within a graphical user interface of an e-mail application on a display device is disclosed. The method includes identifying a field of the e-mail item listing having a displayed value that matches a pre-determined value, applying a color coding to the identified field so that the color coding is visually distinguishable from a background color of the e-mail item listing, receiving an input from an input device to select either an item of the e-mail item listing that includes a color coded field or an item related to the item that includes the color coded field, and applying a selection highlighting to the item that includes the color coded field so that the applied selection highlighting is visually distinguishable from the color coded field and the background color.

Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus including a text extraction unit that extracts selection candidate text from a text string displayed on a display screen, and a selection area placement unit that places selectable areas for the selection candidate text on the display screen in a manner that the selectable areas differ from a display area of the selection candidate text.

Abstract: In one aspect, annotating graphical elements can include displaying a graphical element at a user interface which provides annotation options for selecting areas for annotation, and options for adding highlighting and comments. A user uses the annotation options to select areas of the graphical element for annotation, to select highlighting and user input methods, to and provide comments. After receiving the user input, the graphical elements can be displayed along with the selected annotations. In another aspect, providing information about medical conditions can include presenting a user interface that includes a representation of an anatomical region of the human body. A user can use user-selectable display elements to indicate areas in the anatomical region in which a medical condition is experienced. After receiving the user input, the user can be presented with a selection of medical conditions corresponding to the selected areas, as well as information about medical specialists.

The device receives an indication of a pinch gesture from a touch-enabled screen and scales a facet of the item data to produce a scaled-facet listing responsive to the pinch gesture. The device scales by modifying a degree of a characteristic corresponding with a facet of the item data displayed in the scaled-data display area in an increasing amount responsive to the pinch-in gesture. The modifying further comprises producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a temporal indicator that is later than an initial display of item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic corresponding to the pinch-in gesture. Finally, the device displays the scaled-facet listing as an updated set of item data.

In addition, responsive to a user selection of a particular one of the separate selectable options, the rotating content history controller displays the particular page of rotating content within a web page display interface, such that a user may selectively access the rotating content independent of a web page display of the rotating content.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing navigation assistance on a mobile device are provided. A method may include analyzing handwriting data to recognize one or more objects depicted in the handwriting data. The method may further include determining if one or more applications are associated with the handwriting data based on the one or more objects recognized in the handwriting data. If one application is determined to be associated with the handwriting data, the one application may be launched. If two or more applications are determined to be associated with the handwriting data, information allowing a user to select an application to launch from the two or more applications may be displayed.

Abstract: Systems and processes for scanning a user interface are disclosed. One process can include scanning multiple elements within a user interface by highlighting the elements. The process can further include receiving a selection while one of the elements is highlighted and performing an action on the element that was highlighted when the selection was received. The action can include scanning the contents of the selected element or performing an action associated with the selected element. The process can be used to navigate an array of application icons, a menu of options, a standard desktop or laptop operating system interface, or the like. The process can also be used to perform gestures on a touch-sensitive device or mouse and track pad gestures (e.g., flick, tap, or freehand gestures).

Selecting the primary icon directs the computer to display a line of segments, where each segment associated with one or more software programs or electronic documents. The GUI allows a user to directly access items of visual and/or audio media by selecting one or more documents or software programs associated with a selected segment. The GUI optionally allows selected a line or segment for transmission from the computer to another computer, wherein copies one or more documents or software applications are transmitted to the second computer.

Abstract: Displaying physical signal routing of a system. A diagram of the system may be displayed. The system may include physical components connected via physical connections and logical components implemented on various ones of the physical components. The diagram may include a plurality of icons connected by wires. At least a first subset of the icons may represent logical elements of the system and wires between the first subset of icons may represent logical connections between corresponding logical elements. User input requesting signal routing information of the system may be received. In response, a signal route corresponding to a first logical connection between a first logical element and a second logical element may be visually indicated.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for representing a reference item and a number of items of interest. In one embodiment, each item of interest is assigned to one of a number of concentric regions in a two-dimensional space based on one or more attributes of the item of interest. The concentric regions in the two-dimensional space are centered at a location in the two-dimensional space that corresponds to the reference item. A GUI is then generated such that the GUI includes concentric display regions that correspond to the concentric regions in the two-dimensional space, where a select concentric display region provides an expanded view of the items of interest located within the corresponding region in the two-dimensional space and the remaining concentric display region(s) provide collapsed view(s) of the items of interest in the corresponding region(s) of the two-dimensional space.

Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms providing a visual indication of ordinal ranks of objects in an ordered list. When an object is selected for the ordered list, an ordinal rank for the object within the ordered list is determined and a visual indication of the ordinal rank is rendered to a user interface.

Abstract: Method, system and computer program for visually highlighting identified failing or erroneous pixel elements of a two-dimensional electronic image. Different visual highlighting techniques are stored in memory. A user selects one of the highlighting techniques using a user interface. A processor applies the selected technique(s) to the image and displays the image on a display with visual indications of the failing pixel elements. The techniques include coloring the pixels with a boundary box enclosing all of the erroneous pixels, enclosing separate irregular-shaped groupings of the pixels with a contour-type boundary line, and coloring pixels and enclosing each within a separate box. In the final technique, video lines with some failing pixels, but within allowable tolerances, will have those pixels colored differently and each pixel is enclosed within the same color box. In all cases, it is possible to convert the test image to black and white for display.

Abstract: A method for controlling a mobile device to perform trigger-based object display is provided. The method includes displaying a plurality of objects on a touch screen by arranging the plurality of objects on a grid with rows and columns intersecting each other, detecting a trigger occurring to at least one of the plurality of objects, and applying an emphasis effect to the at least one of the plurality of objects to which the trigger has occurred.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: Techniques that enable content from a web page to be shared directly with one or more targets, which may be an application, a buddy from a buddy list (e.g., in a chat application), and the like. An embodiment of the present invention can identify contents on a web page that are to be made sharable and make the identified contents sharable. The content that is made sharable can then be shared with a share target using, for example, drag and drop operations. For example, a user may select sharable content on a web page, drag the content to a target, and drop it directly on the target thereby sharing the content with the target.

Abstract: A first single-action input is received indicating a start tracking request and including information identifying a first current location of a user-controlled object on a user display device. A second single-action input is received indicating a movement of the object across the display device to a first different location and including a stop tracking request. A first display object associated with the first current location and a second display object associated with the first different location are determined. A group of selected display objects is determined including the first and second display objects. Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards real time display of event records with an indication of previously provided extraction rules. A plurality of extraction rules may be provided to the system, such as automatically generated and/or user created extraction rules. These extraction rules may include regular expressions. A plurality of event records may be displayed to the user, such that text in a field defined by an extraction rule is emphasized in the display of the event record. The same emphasis may be provided for text in overlapping fields, or the emphasis may be somewhat different for different fields. The user interface may enable a user to select a portion of text of an event record, such as by rolling-over or clicking on an emphasized part of the event record. By selecting the portion of the event record, the interface may display each extraction rule associated with the selected portion.

A selection color module may provide for the display of color coding and selection highlighting. The selection color module may provide a secondary highlighting color to indicate messages related to a selected message. A category navigation module may provide one or more of the following: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for touch based selection of graphical elements. Embodiments of the invention improve the usability of interacting with data visualizations. When multiple graphical elements are covered by a finger touch, a gesture recognition component detects ambiguity in the selection. In response, a visualization component draws additional regions around the touched location. The additional regions correspond to the covered graphical elements covered. Thus, a user is made aware of the graphical elements covered by his or her finger. These additional regions are touch friendly and more easily selectable. A finger can be moved into one of the additional regions and released to finish the selection. The gesture recognition component interprets this gesture as if the user tapped directly and unambiguously on the corresponding graphical element.

A hierarchical chart is displayed with a primary entity being displayed in a center region of the display. One or more peers to the primary entity are displayed along a horizontal axis in comparison to the primary entity. One or more parents to the primary entity are displayed above the primary entity, and one or more children to the primary entity are displayed beneath the primary entity. A method for performing searches against a hierarchical chart is also described. Input is received for a name to search for in a hierarchical chart. A filter criteria selection is received. A search is performed against the hierarchical chart to find one or more matching records that match the name and the filter criteria. The one or more matching records are displayed, with at least a name and photo.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for automatically summarizing selections in a hierarchical data tree. Embodiments display a table with at least one entry, corresponding to a level of a branch of a tree, representing a node and comprising a node descriptor, a node selection status indicator, and a summary of selected descendant nodes present. A user may toggle a node selection status via the node selection status indicator, which visually denotes a node selection status is one of selected, unselected, and mixed, according to the number of selected descendant nodes present. The summary of selected descendant nodes comprises a list of descendant node descriptors that summarize an ordered set of nodes between a current node and a lowest level selected node. Either navigation to an entry or modification of a node selection status triggers a propagation of node property updates.

Abstract: Systems and methods to preview only selected items from a document are provided. In example embodiments, a selection of one or more selected items from within a document is received. One or more selected items may have an interactive function (e.g., animation, hyperlink, video display, trigger) applied to or associated with it. The selected one or more items are then displayed within a preview display performing the interactive function, whereby no non-selected items from the document are displayed in the preview display. Preview may also allow preview of the selected items without any interactive function being performed.

Abstract: A method and associated system that enable files in a file directory to be queued or marked prior to sending the files to a common application. A first selectable function is provided to queue a selected file within a first queue, wherein only selected files are queued, and wherein files from different folders may be queued. A selection of an application with which to open the queued and selected files is received. A second selectable function is provided to automatically open all of the queued and/or selected files with the application, wherein files across different folders can be opened with a single operation of the second function.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for efficiently locating a desired item within an ordered list of items, such as a list of contacts, pictures, or football teams. An illustrative method includes presenting a selectable option on a mobile device's display, presenting a positional indicator on the display when the selectable option has been selected that indicates to the user its position within the ordered list of items, and if the selectable option is moved, dynamically indicating the positional indicator's position among the list of items. The selection of the selectable option may be made by any object, such as a finger or stylus. Further, releasing the selection of the selectable option, such as removing the object used from the display, allows for a display of an item in the ordered list of items that corresponds to the position of the positional indicator.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally related to graphical user interfaces (GUIs), and more specifically to selecting items from a radial menu. More specifically, embodiments of the invention provide a complex set of gestures which, when performed using a screen pointer, facilitate fast and accurate selection of radial menu items from a radial menu. The gestures may generally involve a first movement of the screen pointer to activate a desired radial menu item, and a second predefined movement of the screen pointer to select the radial menu item.

In one embodiment, a user enters a search term (or a portion thereof) in a search field. A list of results is displayed, for example in a results menu. The user can select or highlight any of the listed results; in response, the corresponding command is brought into view in context within the user interface, and is highlighted. The user can activate the selected command directly from the search results menu.

Abstract: A method for unlocking a touch screen is applicable to an electronic device having a touch screen. The method includes displaying a main object on the touch screen upon the touch screen being locked; displaying a plurality of secondary objects in an arrangement on the touch screen upon a physical object touching the main object; highlighting the main object or one of the secondary objects when the touching has lasted for a first period; de-highlighting the highlighted and highlighting the main object or another of the secondary objects on the touch screen, when the touching has lasted for a second period longer than the first period; and upon the physical object leaving the touch screen when the main object or a secondary object is highlighted, unlocking the touch screen.
