Work Between Movable Tool And Pivot (e.g., Sweep-arm Bender) Patents (Class 72/217)
  • Patent number: 4091845
Abstract: A tool for bending metal wire hangers such as those used for hanging false ceilings below exposed under floor structures of the type separating successive floors in modern multiple story commercial buildings and in other buildings where a lowered ceiling is desired. The wire bending tool includes a pair of operating handles connected to a gripping jaw having members for holding a wire to be bent. The gripping jaw forms part of a rectangular block to which a third handle is pivotally mounted. The third handle is associated with a roller which cooperates with two corners of the block to bend the wire into two successive right angles as a third handle is pivoted about its axial connection on the rectangular block.

  • Patent number: 4085488
Abstract: A method for forming cooling coils of successive layers of rectangular configuration, in which the front end of an elongated tube is threaded between rolls of a straightening apparatus and clamped onto the periphery of a rectangular table, whereafter the table is rotated about a central axis while the incoming tube shifted in direction of this axis, and while the tube upstream of the table is held in taught condition by the straightening apparatus so that the tube is wound into a coil of rectangular configuraton about the table. After a coil of predetermined length has thus been wound, the table is stopped, the tube cut between the straightening apparatus and the table and the cut rear end of the tube is also clamped to the table.

  • Patent number: 4072036
Abstract: A rod and wire bending machine including at least one bending unit substantially including a fork member, which guides the wire or rod to be bent, and a disengaged bending pin rotating coaxially about the fork member for the bending of the rod. To obtain the rod-forward/backwardfeed, the fork member lodges a roller, operating in couple with an opposed roller in such a way, that the side edges of the opposed extremities of the fork member project from the roller forming two projecting extremities to cause the rod to move forward and backward between the projecting extremities and its said roller and an opposed one, while the rod is laterally guided by the opposed extremities of the fork member, in order that the bending pin has the capacity to effect bendings about one or the other of the pendants constituted by the two projecting extremities of the fork member.

  • Patent number: 4020669
Abstract: The invention concerns a bending machine for bar or rod material such as reinforcement bars for reinforcing concrete. The machine includes a bending mandrel which is stationary during the bending process and a bending tool which can be pivoted about the mandrel. Directly in front of the bending mandrel in the direction of the feed path of the bar or rod material are positioned two clamping cheeks movable relative to one another in a direction perpendicular to the feed path of the material, the cheeks each including a clamping face substantially parallel with the feed path and a cutting face substantially perpendicular to the respective clamping face, the lines of intersection of these faces forming cutting edges substantially parallel with one another.

  • Patent number: 4000636
Abstract: A pipe bending machine comprising a bed plate which mounts a bending head, a mechanism for feeding pipes to be treated into the bending head, and a drive. The pipe feeding mechanism consists of two parallel rows of rollers arranged symmetrically in relation to the pipe axis and fitted into cages used commonly by each row. The rollers in each row and the associated cage are embraced by a hauling chain designed for coupling the drive which moves the chain toward the bending head. Placed on the outside on each chain is a closed-loop strip made of elastic friction material. A pipe to be treated is clamped in the gap between the strips and is fed to the bending head when the chains are displaced. The pipe bending machine of the present invention permits bending the pipes of any shape in space, including parts made of thin-walled and soft metal pipes.

  • Patent number: 3991600
Abstract: A method and apparatus for bending bars, wires, metal strips or the like has been developed. The apparatus consists of a feeding device which feeds the material to be formed to a central fork pin which holds the material. A rotating disc is provided with a nib for bending the material. After the material is bent, the feed of the material is reversed so as to ensure that the material will be sheared close to the bend, thereby reducing waste.

  • Patent number: 3987656
Abstract: A pipe bending apparatus for bending large diameter pipe of either thin or thick walled construction. The pipe bending apparatus includes a bending shoe which is pivotably mounted to a frame member and a follower shoe which is operable with the bending shoe to receive a pipe therebetween for bending. The apparatus also includes a fluid motor which is operable to cause pivotal movement of the bending shoe and a clamping assembly comprising a plurality of rollers which are secured together to clampingly engage the follower shoe and the bending shoe to force them together such that the pipe is forced to conform to the arcuate configuration of the bending shoe as the bending shoe pivots. During such pivotal movement, the rollers of the clamping assembly traverse the arcuate surface of the bending shoe and the rear surface of the follower shoe clamping the pipe between the bending and follower shoe and causing the pipe to assume the configuration of the bending shoe in a rolling mill type operation.
