Abstract: A permanent invisible magnetic marking and positioning system of unfinished steel rods, spring steel bars, workpieces, and the like. A midpoint or center of the rod, bar or workpiece is automatically located and a high-energy pulse is applied for an embedded magnetic marker in the workpiece. Meanwhile, the magnetizing heads can also be repositioned to various points on a workpiece for imparting manufacturing and product identification data. In the case of leaf springs, the center of a spring steel bar is located a magnetic marker is embedded there. A high-energy rectangular pulse imparts a permanent invisible magnetic marks and data. The embedded indicators having peak magnetic strength allow manual or automatic positioning for perfect alignment in bending, tapping and other forming processes.
Abstract: A method and device for checking clearance between a stamping die includes a template representative of relative movement between the stamping die and end tool. A template including a surface representing movement of the end tool relative to the stamping die is positioned relative to the stamping die. The position is indicative of a location of the end tool during operation of the stamping die. Contact between the template and the stamping die along the surface representing movement indicates potential contact between the end tool and the stamping die during operation.

Abstract: A press forming machine having a slide plate which reciprocates by driving sources between a lower support stand and an upper support plate and has a forming space between the lower support stand and the slide plate. In the press forming machine, a reference plate for a displacement reference for the slide plate is supported on the lower support stand. The driving sources are engaged with the slide plate by the drive shafts of the driving sources to drive and press the slide plate. The drive shaft is provided with a through hole axially extending in a shaft center thereof, and displacement measuring devices each for each of the drive shafts measures the displacement of the slide plate portion corresponding to the through hole with respect to the reference plate, through the through hole. As a result, the displacements at the pressurized points on the slide plate can be measured.

Abstract: A bending method includes determining a provisional bending stroke value that resulted in a predetermined angle during test bending. The bending method also includes calculating a stroke value correction amount for correcting the provisional bending stroke value, based on the number of times a test piece was contacted to obtain the predetermined angle during test bending. The stroke value correction amount is added to the provisional stroke value to obtain a corrected stroke value, so as to obtain the predetermined angle during operational bending using the corrected stroke value.

Abstract: Integrating device to detect and recover the deformation of shoulders in a press-bending machine, including an optical ruler joined to the beater and reading trolley, pulled back elastically, and stressed by the false shoulder. The device provided for the false shoulder is made up of a rod perpendicular to the beater, which on one side is hinged to the shoulder of the machine, while on the opposite end, oscillating and facing the beater. It is stressed by the arm joined to the reading trolley of the optical ruler. The rod provides a slider in connection with an underlying plane plate that is part of the false shoulder.
Abstract: A pressing tool apparatus with a clamping pincer and a sensory mechanism that permits a measurement of a displacement which the piston covers with the closure procedure of the clamping pincer. With the first closure of the clamping pincer, without a pressing, there results a nominal displacement value which is realized by a displacement sensor and a ring magnet. Electronics in the housing store a measured nominal value and compares it to subsequent closure procedures with a pressing, accounting for programmable tolerance values. Pressings within a permitted range or outside the range are suitably displayed.
Abstract: Fork of the self-centering oscillating type, particularly for the bending angle measuring, in a pressbrake including at least a fork provided along a matrix or a matrix fractioned element, able to detect the real inclination of the two specular planes of a pressed-bent sheet-plate, each having two detection points, one of which is static and known, and the other one is dynamic. The fork including a forked end and a relative shank which interacts with a position transducer, communicating with a data processing logic unit which controls the pressbrake. The fork being hinged in correspondence with the shank top.
Abstract: A permanent invisible magnetic marking and positioning system of cylindrical metal steel rods. To accurately locate the physical midpoint of the rod-to-be-cut, a novel head centering and positioning mechanism automatically sets the midpoint distance for each setup as the length of the finished rod stock is changed. The steel rod that is used to manufacture the U-bolts is inserted lengthwise into a cutoff saw station or machine until it comes in contact with a stop that is set to the desired predetermined length. An automatic centering device positions the magnetizing heads located at the longitudinal center, on each side, of the steel rod. A high-energy rectangular pulse imparts a permanent invisible magnetic mark at the longitudinal center of the steel rod before being formed into a U-bolt. The rod is then suitably cut to the desired predetermined length, and each of the opposite ends threaded with the desired thread size.
Abstract: A tool and a method for indicating that a circumferential groove of a desired outer diameter has been formed in a pipe are disclosed. The tool has an arm pivotally mountable adjacent to the pipe for rotation about a pivot axis substantially parallel to the pipe's longitudinal axis. The pipe and the arm are relatively rotatable to one another about the longitudinal axis, the arm being biased toward the pipe. A feeler surface, engageable with the outer surface of the pipe within the groove, is mounted on the arm. The geometry of the arm and the position of the feeler surface is such that the arm moves to a predetermined angular position when the diameter of the groove reaches a desired value. The feeler surface is variably positionable along the arm to accommodate pipes or grooves of various diameters.
Abstract: A press die certification system for certifying a press die including a vibration severity monitor operationally connected to the press die to be certified, the monitor creating output containing vibration severity data and press run speed data. Software is utilized for creating a die certificate and die certificate data, calculated on monitor output data obtained from data memory and from press setup information.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for automated control and positioning of a mandrel within a pipe during bending operations. Position detection is accomplished by means of a low frequency electromagnetic signal transmission from a coil placed in close proximity parallel to the pipe outer surface. This signal is detected by a pair of orthogonal receiving coils mounted on the mandrel in close proximity to the pipe inner surface. The phases of the received signals with respect to the transmitted signal and the ratio of the amplitudes of the two received signals is used to estimate the relative position of the transmitter and the receivers. Control of the mandrel along with transmission of reference phase information is accomplished via a high frequency direct sequence spread spectrum radio link between a computer console outside the pipe mounted on the bender and a computer unit mounted inside the pipe on the mandrel.

Only a ram head in a punch press is provided in an electrically insulated state on the machine side and a low voltage is applied to the ram head. Grounding and conduction of the ram head to the machine side through punch tools is detected when the ram head is in contact with the punch tools, nonconduction is detected when the ram head and punch tools are not in contact, and the nonconduction time is determined to be mis-stripping.
