Abstract: A system and method for inserting a regional advertisement and a local television content under centralized control. The system includes a user interface for receiving a media plan from an advertiser. The system also includes a media server including a memory and a processor to insert at least one of a local television content and a regional advertisement from a centralized studio. Further, the system includes one or more edge devices for fetching and inserting at least one of the local television content and the regional advertisement into a central network feed for a pre-determined time period. The method includes fetching a local television content from a local storage device, specifying a pre-determined time period within the central network feed and inserting the local television content for the pre-determined time period into the central network feed. The system implementing the method is implemented for radio content and advertising.

Abstract: A system for collaboratively generating and/or managing a media channel is provided. The system includes an identification component, a generation component and a permissions component. The identification component identifies a first set of media content associated with a first social group and a second set of media content associated with a second social group. The generation component generates a media channel based on the first and second sets of media content identified as being respectively associated with the first and second social groups. The permissions component grants access to the media channel based at least on permissions generated for the first and second sets of media content in connection with the respective first and second social groups.

Abstract: Particular embodiments provide supplemental content that may be related to video content that a user is watching. A segment of closed-caption text from closed-captions for the video content is determined. A first set of information from the segment of closed-caption text, such as terms may be extracted. Particular embodiments use an external source that can be determined from a set of external sources. To determine the supplemental content, particular embodiments may extract a second set of information from the external source. Because the external source may be more robust and include more text than the segment of closed-caption text, the second set of information may include terms that better represent the segment of closed-caption text. Particular embodiments thus use the second set of information to determine supplemental content for the video content, and can provide the supplemental content to a user watching the video content.

Abstract: Systems and methods that may facilitate synchronizing the presentation of a program on multiple devices are disclosed. Synchronization information related to a program may be exchanged via a two-way communications channel. Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating caching of programming data are provided herein, including receiving two or more programming data portions, storing the respective programming data portions, managing access to a storage component or a communication component based on programming data portions stored within the storage component, merging programming data portions with a database, and generating a sleep signal based on a period of inactivity which exceeds an inactivity threshold. In one or more embodiments, caching of programming data may include determining a programming data set based on user profile data, parsing the programming data set into two or more programming data portions, converting respective programming data portions into a binary format, transmitting a first programming data portion of the respective programming data portions, and transmitting additional programming data portions of the respective programming data portions based on a sleep signal.

An example method for processing a secure data flow includes receiving a data packet, determining network conditions associated with the data traffic, and determining that the data packet is associated with the secure data flow. Upon determination that the data packet is associated with the secure data flow, the data packet is analyzed. Thereafter, the method proceeds to classify the secure data flow based on the analysis. Subscriber data associated with the data packet may be obtained. The method can then process the secure data flow based on the subscriber data and the classification of the secure data flow.

The segment is requested from the content providing server in the specified adaptively selected adequate segment quality level. The requested segment is received in a current segment quality level corresponding to the adaptively selected adequate quality level, stored locally associated with information regarding its quality level. Received file segments pertaining to the content file are rendered in a manner as specified by a received manifest file pertaining to the content file.

Abstract: Proximity-triggered notifications/alerts are communicated to bank customers as a result of a previously abandoned/canceled ATM transaction that has subsequently been pre-queued for completion. In this regard, the present invention recognizes when the customer is proximate in location to a financial institution channel suitable for completing the transaction and sends the customer an alert, which is typically received by the customer via a mobile communication device. The alert indicates that the previous abandoned ATM transaction has been pre-queued for completion and provides the customer with the location of the nearest financial institution channel suitable for completing the transaction. In specific embodiments of the invention, pre-queuing of the transaction for completion provides for the customer to complete the transaction from the last existing point in the transaction completed by the customer.

Abstract: A system for remotely controlling a camera is disclosed. The system includes five major subsystems; a first subsystem collocated with the camera; a second subsystem which serves as a gateway between the camera and the third subsystem; a third subsystem to remotely monitor the studio and control the camera; a fourth subsystem located at the destination of the video stream; and a fifth subsystem to receive and re-transmit a video control stream. This system allows the camera to be monitored and controlled by one location, while the primary video stream is transmitted to a different location. In some embodiments, the control video stream is a lower bandwidth signal than the primary video stream. Furthermore, the fifth subsystem is capable of receiving and re-transmitting control video streams from a plurality of cameras simultaneously. The second subsystem allows remote access to the first subsystem, such as via the third subsystem, based on approved credentials.

Nodes associated with a web page are included in the social graph based on one or more tags included in a web page, which contain meta-information for defining the node in the social networking system, such as the type of the node. The social networking system retrieves the tags from the markup language document and stores their information in connection with the node for the web page while using the tags to identify a template that describes display of content from the web page. The template may include user interface elements for receiving input, allowing a user to interact with a node in the social graph associated with the web page, allowing user interactions with the web page content to be tracked by and reflected back within the social networking system.

A current connection state and capabilities are maintained in the IPTV server for a set of devices (304, 304a) associated to the subscriber. When the IPTV server receives from the first device a first indication (3:4) indicating a wanted media object and a second indication (3:5) indicating a selected second device (304), the IPTV server sends (3:6) a download instruction with a media reference to the selected second device. The download instruction instructs the second device to download and prebuffer (3:7) data of at least an opening part of the wanted media object based on the media reference. Thereby, a user can start playout of the wanted media object on the second device immediately without having to wait for session setup and downloading of enough data for playout.

Abstract: A system for remotely controlling a camera is disclosed. The consumer may have previously purchased a media item and is compensated for contributing to redistribute the media item through his private infrastructure, which comprises server resources, storage resources, and bandwidth resources. A platform provider of a Hub-TV system provides the control and management functions to ensure that a plurality of broker agents, a plurality of delivery agents, a plurality of payment agents, and a mass of consumer-distributors, are compensated for their services in the Hub-TV system. A consumer who purchases a media item through a Hub-TV system may have to receive a play token, and optionally a decryption key to consume the purchased item.

A thin-client multiplier that combines the two different approaches communicates digitally with main server computer system such that it can be placed any distance from the main server computer system. The thin-client multiplier also provides output information received from the server system and electrical power to analog thin-client terminal systems and receives input information from the analog thin-client terminal systems. The received input information is provided to the server system for processing.

The device stores the one or more chunks in the memory, receives an instruction to play the OTT content after the one or more chunks are stored, and plays the one or more chunks, based on the instruction, while simultaneously obtaining remaining chunks of the OTT content.

For example, a user's selection of such an option may cause the DVR to display or play an advertisement on the user's television set. Additionally or alternatively, these other options, when selected by a user, may cause the DVR to display a user interface through which the user can actually purchase a product or service. The product or service advertised or offered may be one that was featured or referenced in the television program that the user was just watching.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses in a user equipment (300) and a control server (302) for enabling resumption of a paused media information stream sent in a live broadcast (3:1) of a TV program. When a user has paused (3:2) the broadcasted media in formation stream, the user equipment sends to the control server a request message (3:4) comprising an indicator of the time of pause. The control server then calculates (3:5) an offset value indicating a pause point in the media information stream where the pause occurred, based on the received indicator. The control server sends an answer message (3:6) comprising a file location address of a recorded version of the TV program and the calculated offset value, to the user equipment. The user equipment can then resume the media information stream (3:7, 3:8) from said pause point based on the received file location address and offset value. Thereby, any gap or jump in the resumed TV program due to inaccurate offset can be minimized or avoided.

Consistent with one embodiment of the invention, a content selection web portal associated with a content selection service provides a web page for selecting one or more user interface objects to be added to a content provider's web page. Each user interface object is displayed with its associated snippet of code, making it simple for a web author to copy and paste the code into his or her own web page. Once embedded in a web page, the code snippet displays a user interface object (e.g., button) on the web page, and when pressed or selected, invokes a content selection service. Alternatively, the content selection service may be automatically invoked without requiring the selection of a button.
