Abstract: A system designed for increasing network communication speed for users, while lowering network congestion for content owners and ISPs. The system employs network elements including an acceleration server, clients, agents, and peers, where communication requests generated by applications are intercepted by the client on the same machine. The IP address of the server in the communication request is transmitted to the acceleration server, which provides a list of agents to use for this IP address. The communication request is sent to the agents. One or more of the agents respond with a list of peers that have previously seen some or all of the content which is the response to this request (after checking whether this data is still valid).

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for preventing and/or discouraging access by children and/or other persons to restricted content and/or other information. Some users may have different hearing and may be able to hear sounds at different, for example higher, frequencies than other users. Users may also wish to discourage and/or prevent other users from consuming restricted content. A sound output at a high frequency may be used to disrupt the viewing experience of a user that is not permitted to consume restricted content. The high frequency sound may cause the user that is not permitted to consume restricted content to leave an environment where the content item is output. The high frequency sound may be inaudible to users that are permitted to consume restricted content. The high-frequency sound may discourage and/or prevent some users from consuming restricted content without disrupting the user experience of other users.

Abstract: An example method can comprise receiving content for presentation at a user device. The content can comprise a plurality of sections, and each section can comprise a video portion and an audio portion. The user device can also receive content metadata regarding one or more features of the content, where the features of the content comprise one or more candidate sections of the content for modification. The user device can apply one or more rules to the received content based on the content metadata to modify one or more of the audio portion and the video portion of at least one section of the content, creating modified content, and can cause presentation of the modified content on a display device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for generating and sharing media clips are described. Consistent with some embodiments, while a selection of digital media content (e.g., a movie, television program, audio track, and so on) is being presented at a media player, a user creates one or more sets of waypoints (e.g., time markers) that define the boundaries (e.g., beginning and end) of one or more media clips. These waypoints are communicated from one media player device to another, enabling the receiving media player device to retrieve and play back the media clips from a source other than the media player device where the waypoints were generated.

Responsive to a request from a target system for data collected over a time interval, the source system generates a subset of the data collected by determining a start snapshot and an end snapshot. The start snapshot and the end snapshot are determined as a pair of snapshots that have respective associated time references that are most closely spaced and are inclusive of the time interval. The source system determines a difference in the data included in the end snapshot and the start snapshot and provides the subset of the data as the difference in the data included in the end snapshot and the start snapshot.

Then, a validity of the detected segmentation message is determined based on a previously-detected segmentation message. The user is notified of the determined validity of the segmentation message using the display.

The media device may monitor a transmission and display of non-streaming content and create a fingerprint of the non-streaming content based on the monitoring. The method further includes computing an estimated end time of a first content item included in the continuous content stream, and scheduling the live content item to be included in the continuous content stream as a next content item to be presented after the first content item in response to a determination that the estimated end time of the first content item occurs within the time duration.

The network apparatus is configured to transcode and transmit pre-broadcast content into transcoded content according to a format associated with a content distribution apparatus. Network apparatus is configured to transmit a “delta file” to content distribution apparatus with transcoded content and instructions to signal modifying the pre-broadcast content. Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for syncing a client device with media content for scene-specific notifications. A computing environment is employed to cause a sync to occur between a client device and media content being rendered by a media device using an audio signal or a video signal captured by the client device during a playback of the media content. A current scene of the media content being rendered on the media device is determined by comparing the audio signal or the video signal to at least one digital fingerprint stored in a data store. The computing environment then identifies content in a plurality of upcoming scenes occurring later in the playback than the current scene by analyzing at least one tag descriptive of the content in the plurality of upcoming scenes.

The memory stores a sequence of image frames of multi-media content and closed caption (CC) information associated with the multi-media content. The implementation determines an overlap of the first video clip with the second video clip based at least in part on the match. The implementation merges the first video clip and the second video clip into a group of overlapping video clips based on the overlap and generates a presentation that includes the group formed by merging the first video clip and the second video clip based on the overlap.

A system receives a selection of a media asset and determines whether the media asset is available to be presented in a plurality of audio languages and subtitle languages. In response to determining that the media asset is available to be presented in a plurality of audio languages and subtitle languages, the system retrieves a first profile indicating a first recent experience based on a first number of meetings scheduled within a time period. Based on the first recent experience, the system selects an audio language and a subtitle language for presentation of the media asset. The system presents the media asset using the selected audio language and subtitle language.

Abstract: A process with subtitles text information can be performed on the receiving side more appropriately. A video stream having encoded image data is generated. A subtitles stream having subtitles text information corresponding to utterances of a predetermined number of utterers and meta information for analyzing each utterance is generated. A container with a predetermined format including the video stream and the subtitles stream is sent. For example, the meta information includes an identifier for identifying an utterer of each utterance, attribute information of the utterer of each utterance, and the like.

Abstract: Original transmitters of television broadcast content, such as national broadcasters, may tunnel various data such as SCTE-35 messages through a special closed captioning service before handoff to their local affiliates. The tunneled SCTE-35 messages may thus survive the re-encoding of both the local broadcaster to an over-the-air (OTA) retransmission, and re-encoding by any subsequent cable or satellite television providers as well. An uplink center and television service provider (e.g., a cable or satellite system) may receive the transport stream from the local broadcaster, may strip out the tunneled SCTE-35 messages from extra closed captioning streams at the uplink, re-create the SCTE-35, and then process it at the uplink of the satellite system, for example, by performing ad insertion, re-muxing the SCTE-35 for the satellite broadcast, and/or modifying it and sending it over the satellite broadcast on a separate PID to the set top boxes for those STBs for ad insertion.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for improving the bandwidth efficiency of delivering electronic program guide (EPG) data to consumer premises equipment (CPE). In one exemplary embodiment, electronic guide data is rendered by devices away from the CPE, shifting the executing data- and bandwidth-heavy operations away from the CPE. In particular, one or more gateways at the user's home bears the processing, memory, bandwidth load to reduce the inefficiency of delivering redundant information to CPE(s) interfacing with the gateway(s). Using guide data it receives from the cloud, the gateway produces and delivers to the CPE one or more “simple views” of the guide data, including a video stream, still image, or simple HTML or other renderable formats. As the end user interacts with the CPE, the user receives a series of the simple views, allowing the rich experience that is typically given by EPG rendered directly by the CPE.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a data transmission method and apparatus. User equipment (UE) measures and transmits a transmission delay to a group communication service application server (GCS AS), or the GCS AS itself determines a transmission delay, so that the GCS AS may determine, according to the transmission delay, a time of sending a packet on a multicast path or a unicast path. Therefore, a problem of out of order of packets or a loss of a packet due to a transmission delay is resolved, and continuity of a communication service is maintained.

The systems and methods can restore the access token to its original state if an error is detected. The systems and methods can also include one or more link sharing mechanisms for sharing links to a video stream. The shareable links may be associated with share tokens.

The show creation server is configured to generate a segment to be added to an interactive live program by generating a playlist. The streaming server is configured to transcode the interactive live program with the segment into at least one format suitable for display on the display associated with the client device, and transmit the transcoded interactive live program to the respective client device for display.

Abstract: A remote control device used by a viewer to control content being displayed on a separate display device outputs content in response to instructing the device providing content to the separate display device to begin fast forwarding. The viewer of the separate display device may then be exposed to the content being output by the remote control device while the content to the separate display device is fast forwarding. Thus, the viewer may better perceive the content being output by the remote control device than the content being fast forwarded on the separate display device. The outputting of content may be by the remote control device providing video, a static display, and/or audio. Upon the remote control device instructing the fast forwarding at the display device to stop and return to a play mode, the remote control device terminates the outputting of the content from the remote control device.

To increase the likelihood of various advertisements in an ad campaign being evaluated for presentation to users, the online system may: associate a relatively high performance score with each advertisement in an ad campaign, randomly select advertisements from an ad campaign, modify bid amounts associated with advertisements in the ad campaign, or allocate a portion of the ad campaign's budget for allocation across advertisements in the ad campaign. The method further includes aligning ST and SE in time and frequency, calculating a distance function associated with aligned ST and SE, and evaluating the distance function to determine a score. The method also includes comparing the score to a threshold to detect if splicing occurs in the speech signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying which video segment is being displayed on a screen of a television system. The video segment is identified by deriving data from the television signals, the derived data being indicative of the video segment being displayed on file screen. This feature can be used to extract a viewer's reaction (such as changing the channel) to a specific video segment (such as an advertisement) and reporting the extracted information as metrics. The systems and methods may further provide contextually targeted content to the television system. The contextual targeting is based on not only identification of the video segment being displayed, but also a determination concerning the playing time or offset time of the particular portion of the video segment being currently displayed.
