Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method of providing interactive content. The method may include sending, from a media device, a request for one or more interactive applications to a first content source that is distinct from a second content source that provides video content to the media device. The request may indicate one or more locations to be polled for the one or more interactive applications. The method may include generating, at the media device, a menu of selectable interactive applications displayable at a display device. The selectable interactive applications may include one or more available interactive applications identified by the first content source in response to the request.

Abstract: An enhanced cable card device is described that operates in host devices without requiring an out-of-band data channel. One embodiment includes a broadcast receiver for receiving a broadcast signal, a processor for coordinating processing in the cable card, a memory for storing data normally received by the cable card over an out-of-band signal, an in band data receiver for receiving an in band data signal, and a control program running on the processor to signal reception of an out-of-band signal to a host device electrically connected to the cable card. In addition, the control program processes data from the memory and provides processed output data to the host device simulating data normally received over an out-of-band data channel, and the cable card allows the host device to operate normally without an out-of-band receiver.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatic adjustment of text in a video are described. At least one embodiment includes a system for automatic adjustment of text in a video on a display comprising a ratio detector configured to detect an original aspect ratio of the video, an edge locator configured to identify edges of the video based on the original aspect ratio detected, wherein regions between the edges of the video and edges of the display define unused regions, a size assessment module configured to determine size of the text, wherein the size assessment module determines the size of the text by examining at least one of light portions within the text and a bounding rectangle which surrounds the text. The system further comprises a text adjuster configured to move the text to the unused region above or below the video, wherein the text adjuster further aligns the text to at least one of the edges of the video and the edges of the display device.

The method comprises the steps of receiving a request in an embedded data brokering system to embed the auxiliary data in the media program, determining if the auxiliary data may be embedded into the media program, negotiating a schedule for broadcasting the media program with embedded auxiliary data with the media program provider, transmitting the negotiated schedule for broadcasting the media program with the embedded auxiliary data to the media program provider, steganographically embedding the auxiliary data in the media program while collecting billing information regarding the embedded data, and providing the media program and the embedded auxiliary data to the media program services subscriber for broadcast according to the broadcast schedule.

Abstract: A method and computing device for determining the location of a point of interest in a media stream. The method receives an order of duplication for a media stream and a sequence of caption data strings associated with the media stream. The method computes a hash value for a selected string in the sequence. The hash value representing the selected string, and a number of strings in the sequence that immediately precede the selected string, where the order of duplication determines the number of strings. The method receives a media stream time for the selected string based on the hash value, and determines a time at a point of interest in the media stream relative to the media stream time for the selected string.

Processing and reporting of such data is provided in various ways to serve a variety of business needs. Methods for employing content identification technology to efficiently and automatically obtain reliable, accurate, and precise monitoring data are also disclosed. Various information products and services based on such monitoring systems are proposed.

A control section of the display unit controls operation of a display processing section which carries out a process for displaying for the image data based on the content identification information received by the HDMI sink and a display section for displaying an image.

The techniques are especially useful for representation and verification of the integrity of data (integrity verification) in safe computing environments and/or systems (e.g., Trusted Computing (TC) systems and/or environments). Multiple independent representative values can be determined independently and possibly in parallel for respective portions of the data. The independent representative values can, for example, be hash values determined at the same time for respective distinct portions of the data. The integrity of the data can be determined based on the multiple hash values by, for example, processing them to determine a single hash value that can serve as an integrity value.

In this case, a method and apparatus is provided to allow the user downloading an interaction document for a media program to receive updated versions of the interaction document that can be used when viewing a recording of the media program. In one exemplary embodiment, the media playback system sends a request for an interaction document to an interaction document server responsive to the recording of the interactive media program. The interaction document server may send the updated interaction document to the media playback system responsive to the request if one is available.

The details of the ability for the viewer to interact is embedded as data in the program signal. The viewer then uses a remote control to purchase products, vote on events, respond to polls, download files, request information, and request callback actions. The TV viewer uses the remote control to send information to a set-top box front-end application, and to iteratively create transactions that are batched and then sent to a back-end core application and database which then handles fulfillment.

The system may determine when data should be sent out-of-band and when it should be sent in-band.
