Abstract: Metadata for highlights of a video stream is extracted from card images embedded in the video stream. The highlights may be segments of a video stream, such as a broadcast of a sporting event, that are of particular interest to one or more users. Card images embedded in video frames of the video stream are identified and processed to extract text. The text characters may be recognized by applying a machine-learned model trained with a set of characters extracted from card images embedded in sports television programming contents. The training set of character vectors may be pre-processed to maximize metric distance between the training set members. The text may be interpreted to obtain the metadata. The metadata may be stored in association with the portion of the video stream. The metadata may provide information regarding the highlights, and may be presented concurrently with playback of the highlights.

Abstract: Data processing systems and methods are disclosed for combining video content with one or more augmentations to produce augmented video. Objects within video content may have associated bounding boxes that may each be associated with respective RGB values. Upon user selection of a pixel, the RGBA value of the pixel may be used to determine a bounding box associated with the RGBA value. The client may transmit an indicator of the determined bounding box to an augmentation system to request augmentation data for the object associated with the bounding box. The system then uses the indicator to determine the augmentation data and transmits the augmentation data to the client device.

Abstract: A media presentation and distribution system communicatively coupled to a client device, which handles enablement of a client-side dynamic presentation of at least one non-programming media asset along with programming media content. The client device receives a first media stream of the programming media content in response to a request, associated with at least one user preference for the programming media content, to the media presentation and distribution system. The client device identifies at least one tag in the programming media content and transmits at least one event opportunity point for selection to the media presentation distribution system. Based on the selection, the client device modifies a display view of the client device for a defined duration, and presents the at least one non-programming media asset, from a second media stream for the defined duration, concurrently with the programming media content over the modified display view of the client device.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes receiving a first portion of query fingerprint data representing content transmitted by a content-distribution system. The method also includes detecting a match between the first portion of the query fingerprint data and a first portion of reference fingerprint data representing a modifiable content-segment. The method also includes after detecting the match: (i) receiving a second portion of the query fingerprint data, wherein the second portion of the query fingerprint data is different from the first portion of the query fingerprint data; and (ii) detecting a mismatch between the second portion of the query fingerprint data and a second portion of the reference fingerprint data representing the modifiable content-segment, wherein the second portion of the reference fingerprint data is different from the first portion of the reference fingerprint data. The method also includes responsive to detecting the mismatch, performing an action.

Abstract: Virtual sensor technology, in which a camera is controlled to capture at least one configuration image of an area monitored by a monitoring system and input is received that defines one or more characteristics of the at least one configuration image that enable sensing of an event in the area. Based on the received input, configuration data used in sensing the event is generated and stored. After storage of the configuration data, the camera is controlled to capture one or more images of the area, the one or more images are analyzed based on the configuration data, and occurrence of the event is detected based on the analysis of the one or more images. Based on detecting occurrence of the event, a transmitting device is controlled to send, to a controller of the monitoring system, a signal that indicates the detection of the occurrence of the event.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, apparatus, and system for slicing live streaming. A method may include: acquiring the live streaming from a live source station server; slicing the live streaming to generate an index file and sliced files of the live streaming; and sending the index file and the sliced files of the live streaming to an object storage server, to cause the object storage server to store the index file and the sliced files of the live streaming.

In one embodiment, a computing device comprising: an electronic processor; and a memory including an interactive podcast program that, when executed by the electronic processor, causes the electronic processor to perform a set of operations including retrieving, from a server, a podcast, one or more links to additional audio/visual content that is contextually related to the podcast, and metadata, and generating an interactive podcast by generating a plurality of graphical user interfaces based on the podcast, the one or more links to the additional audio/visual content, and the metadata. The plurality of graphical user interfaces is configured to provide a user interaction interface between the podcast and the one or more links to the additional audio/visual content.

Abstract: In one aspect, an example method includes (i) presenting first media content from a first source; (ii) encountering a trigger to switch from presenting the first media content from the first source to presenting second media content from a second source; (iii) determining a first loudness level of the first media content; (iv) determining a second loudness level of the second media content; (v) based on a difference between the first loudness level and the second loudness level, adjusting a loudness level of the second media content so as to generate modified media content having a third loudness level that is different from the second loudness level; and (vi) responsive to encountering the trigger, presenting the modified media content having the third loudness level.

Abstract: A content management resource transmits a received digital data stream in a respective network data channel to one or more subscribers. The content management resource receives an emergency notification control signal, which indicates occurrence of an emergency message. In response to receiving the emergency notification control signal, the content management resource transmits the emergency message in the digital data channel to the one or more subscribers in lieu of transmitting the received digital data stream of content in the data channel to the one or more subscriber. Thus, a subscriber can tune to a particular channel to play back selected content and be apprised, via receipt of the message over the particular channel, of a corresponding condition such as an emergency.

Abstract: At least one aspect of the present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of extracting media segments based on fingerprint matching. The method can include receiving a media stream comprising a plurality of frames and generating a plurality of fingerprints corresponding to each frames. The method can receive a target timestamp and determine a target fingerprint from the plurality that corresponds to the target timestamp. The method can retrieve candidate fingerprints, each of the candidate fingerprints corresponding to a frame in a candidate media stream. The method can compare the target fingerprint to the candidate fingerprints to determine a matching candidate fingerprint. The method can match fingerprints that correspond to media frames before and after the target fingerprint to determine the upper and lower bounds of a segment of interest. The method can extract the segment of interest based on the bounds and provide it to a respective party.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer-readable storage media for allocating content elements addressed for a content opportunity in a transport stream within a household-addressable media network. A content opportunity may include an advertising slot in a programming stream. The content elements may include advertising content configured to be run during the advertising slot. The advertising slot may be transmitted in a programming stream providing television programming and the advertising content may be provided in a commercial feed. The media network may be configured to transmit various content formats, such as high definition (HD), standard definition (SD), and variations thereof. Systems may be configured to allocate the highest profile corresponding content elements if there is sufficient resources available. If sufficient resources are not available, the system may allocate lower profile versions of the content elements.

For example, as media content progresses, the media guidance application may determine objects that may interest a user. The media guidance application may record the number of determined objects and present the number to the user as well as supplemental content associated with each object.

Abstract: An electronic device and method for media content to be replaced other media content is disclosed. The method includes receiving first media content comprising a set of media content segments. The method includes receiving second media content comprising a first media content segment. The method includes receiving scheduling information identifying a second media content segment of the set of media content segments to be replaced with the first media content segment. The method includes determining that the first content feed is transmitted according to a first broadcast timing and that the second content feed is transmitted according to a second broadcast timing. The method includes syncing the first broadcast timing with the second broadcast timing. The method includes replacing the second media content segment with the first media content segment when the first content feed and the second content feed are synced.

Abstract: Vehicle manufacturers may leverage one vehicle of a household to gain intelligence to determine whether a new vehicle may be purchased or an existing vehicle may be replaced for the household. Techniques include identifying a home geofence space that identifies the household at the household address for the vehicle. The sensor data from the vehicle can be used to identify other vehicles within the home geofence space. When other vehicles are identified that match appropriate criteria, the other vehicles may be associated with the household. Further observation of the other vehicles and the behavior of the members of the household can be used to identify when an existing vehicle of the household may be replaced and/or a new vehicle may be purchased. Upon determining that a new or replacement vehicle may be purchased, marketing materials may be provided to the household to aid the household with purchasing the new vehicle.

Manifest files may contain manifest file tags indicating events and insertion opportunities. Abstract: A system comprising a screen, client devices comprising processing devices that render an augmented or mixed reality interactive environment that is shared among the client devices, the augmented or mixed reality interactive environment including one or more virtual objects and narratives, wherein one or more of the client devices are configured to generate an individualized experience in the augmented or mixed reality interactive environment, a given one of the client devices including an output device configured to project images on the screen, the projected images associated with the augmented or mixed reality interactive environment, and an input device configured to receive user interactions with the augmented or mixed reality interactive environment. The system further comprises a server communicatively coupled to the client devices via a network, the server monitors the user interactions and modifies the one or more virtual objects and narratives.

Abstract: Various embodiments of methods, apparatus, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for buffer recovery in segmented media delivery applications are described. Segments of a live media presentation are stored in a buffer. A number of segments in the buffer is determined to have fallen below a threshold. Based on that determination, various buffer recovery techniques may be performed. In one such technique, a buffered segment is decoded into a first set of video frames, the first set of video frames having a first playback duration. The first set of video frames is encoded into a second set of video frames having a second playback duration that is longer than the first playback duration.

Abstract: A method is described in which a 3MF (3D Manufacturing Format) file is adapted for use with a three-dimensional (3D) printing system. The 3MF file includes at least one 3D model having polygonal slices. The method comprises parsing the 3MF file, generating an intermediate file for the 3D model included in the 3MF file, and performing a polygon cleanup for the polygonal slices of the 3D model of the intermediate file. The polygon cleanup is performed using an implementation of a polygon clipping algorithm. Further, the method comprises generating a resulting file for the intermediate file comprising the polygonal slices for which the polygon cleanup has been performed.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving information from a plurality of equipment that is each managed by different entities where the information includes requests for ad insertions, and adjusting the information to generate adjusted information that is compatible with a plurality of multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) advertising infrastructures and compatible with a plurality of dynamic advertising insertion (DAI) processes that are managed by different DAI entities. Access to at least one of the MVPD advertising infrastructures and access to at least one of the DAI processes to facilitate ad insertion can be provided to each of the plurality of equipment, and a change request can be determined that is associated with inventory. Access to a different one of the DAI processes can be provided to a first equipment of the plurality of equipment to facilitate at least some of the ad insertion according to the change request. Abstract: A method for providing privacy during delivery of ABR media content to a plurality of ABR OTT client devices includes receiving, at a network node that includes a Controlled Cache, an ABR manifest for an ABR media asset. The ABR manifest includes a segmentation-units index. Responsive to receiving a request for the ABR media asset from an ABR OTT client device, the method sends to the ABR OTT client device a custom manifest having a number of segmentation-units in segments that is customized for an ABR playback session. A network node, which can be one of an origin server, an edge server and a Just-In-Time Packager (JIT-P), and a computer program product for providing privacy during delivery are also shown.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate a coordination between QAM and adaptive bitrate content delivery. Location information associated with a device may be utilized to identify and retrieve advertisements or alternate content for placement into a stream that is carrying requested content. Advertisement or alternate content may be placed into a stream based on retrieved placement information. The placement information may be resolved from one format to another depending upon a specific mode of delivery that is selected for delivering the stream to a media device.

The enterprise hub inserts the first avail claim into the first local log to generate a first revised log, and into the second local log to generate a second revised log. The first and second revised logs are transmitted from the enterprise hub to the corresponding first or second media outlet.

An action may be scheduled to occur at a first time within the presentation of the media asset, where the action may interrupt the presentation of the media asset. When a current presentation position is approaching the first time, an option to delay the action may be generated for presentation. In response to receiving selection of the option to delay the action, the action may be scheduled to occur at a later second time within the presentation of the media asset.

In an embodiment, a method is provided that includes establishing a network connection between a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE, generating a video signal at the first UE, selecting content at the first UE, transmitting the video signal from the first UE over a first network channel, and transmitting the content from the first UE over a second network channel. The method also includes receiving the video signal on the first channel at the second UE, receiving the content on the second channel at the second UE, combining the video signal and the content into a combined video signal at the second UE, and displaying the combined video signal on a display device at the second UE.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for disambiguating user input based on a physical location of items in a vicinity of a user. The system determines that a query received from a user contains an ambiguity. In response, the system identifies several items in the physical vicinity of the user. Then, the system analyzes the identified plurality of items to determine whether the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items or a second ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a first keyword related to the first ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a second ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a second keyword related to the second ensemble of items. The system then outputs results of the performed search.

Abstract: A system and methodology provide for annotating videos with entities and associated probabilities of existence of the entities within video frames. A computer-implemented method identifies an entity from a plurality of entities identifying characteristics of video items. The computer-implemented method selects a set of features correlated with the entity based on a value of a feature of a plurality of features, determines a classifier for the entity using the set of features, and determines an aggregation calibration function for the entity based on the set of features. The computer-implemented method selects a video frame from a video item, where the video frame having associated features, and determines a probability of existence of the entity based on the associated features using the classifier and the aggregation calibration function.

The video player may display navigation images enabling navigation to specific portions of the video content by activating a corresponding navigation image. The video player may also enable the sharing of a segment of the video with other video players, enabling the video players to play the streamed segment of the video without having to play the entire video, thereby reducing network bandwidth usage. The video player may be embeddable. The server may associate searchable tags with respective video segments.

Abstract: An operating method of a terminal may include establishing a video call session between the terminal and a counterpart terminal; acquiring a first video that is captured by the terminal and includes a plurality of frames; censoring the first video based on a censorship algorithm for determining whether or not at least one object preset as an inappropriate element is included in a frame within a predetermined video; and displaying the first video instead of a second video received from a counterpart terminal when it is determined that the at least one object is included in at least one of the plurality of frames as a result of censoring the first video.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for optimizing bandwidth for broadcast transmission. The disclosed techniques herein provide for receiving first and second content for transmission to subscriber devices on a first and second channels. The system then determines whether the first and second content contain a common segment. If so, the system updates metadata schema (e.g., homogeneous channel descriptor, homogeneous switch descriptor) to indicate there is a common segment. The system may generate a transport stream during multiplexing of the first and second channels based on the updated metadata schema. The transport stream, for a time duration based on the at least one common segment, includes a first audio feed of the first content and a first video feed of the first content to be provided on the second channel. The system then transmits the transport stream to the one or more subscriber devices.

Abstract: Technology for generating camera viewfinder displays for camera people video recording/broadcasting live events such as sporting events, where the viewfinder displays include overlays that include: (i) priority values for objects shown on and/or off the live event view shown in viewfinder display; (ii) identifications of objects that are outside the viewfinder display; and/or (iii) direction to the locations of objects that are outside the viewfinder display. In response to these indications in the overlay, the cameraperson may move the camera to better capture a high priority object and/or capture an object that was outside the viewfinder display.

Example apparatus for identification of local commercial insertion opportunities include a media comparator to compare respective instances of media conveyed in respective ones of a plurality of broadcast signals associated with affiliates of a national broadcaster to identify a broadcast interval having different media conveyed among at least some of the broadcast signals. The example apparatus also include an insertion opportunity identifier to determine whether the broadcast interval is associated with a local advertisement insertion opportunity based on a characteristic of the broadcast interval.

Abstract: An ad in a movie can be a static ad having a position in the movie that cannot be moved, or a dynamic ad having a position in the movie that can be changed. When a viewer wishes to skip a portion of the movie containing the ad, the playback system determines whether the ad is static or dynamic. If the ad is static, only the portion of the movie preceding the static ad can be skipped; the ad is unskippable. This technique is referred to as “bounceback” since the end of the skip bounces back to the start of the static ad. If the ad is dynamic, it is moved to after the end of the skip. This technique is referred to as “slip-ad” since the ad slips to later in the movie. When a movie has multiple ads, some can be static and some can be dynamic.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, devices, and techniques related to generating audiences for media campaigns based on previous consumer behavior. In some examples, a query is received from at least one provider device. The query may indicate at least one characteristic of interactions between consumer accounts and items offered by an online marketplace. Audience identifiers can be retrieved from at least one database corresponding to the query. In some cases, the audience identifiers indicate a set of consumer accounts that have previously interacted with one or more items according to the characteristic(s) specified by the query. An indication of the audience identifiers can be output to the provider.

Matches between data from the customer's accounts for each merchant are compared to the data in association with the customer's logical identifier for their cellphone, and particularly with each incidence of a rendering on their display screen of an AR view of a product advertisement containing the AR-triggering symbol to initiate the corresponding AR enhanced view of the ad. Abstract: An audience proposal creator determines a target cost per thousand (CPM) baseline and a demographics CPM baseline for a deal offering audience spots, determines deal constraints based on a target CPM reduction goal, a demographics CPM cap, and the established parameters, and generates rates by selling title for each selling title-weeks for a duration of pending deal, and for each network of a plurality of networks based on the constraints. Target and demo audience rating estimates are acquired based on the target and demo applicable to the advertiser for the plurality of networks, and a distribution of the audience spots generated across the plurality of selling title-weeks, and networks based on the target audience rating estimates, a budget for the pending deal, the generated rates, and available inventory per selling title-weeks, and a proposal generated based on the distribution. An audience processor schedules audience spots across one or more networks for selling title-weeks based on the distribution.
