  • Patent number: 7565832
Abstract: A tire pressure detector includes an electrically conductive housing having a housing body and a protruding annular body; a cover having a sleeve portion connected to the protruding annular body, an airtight chamber defined by the cover and the housing for receiving a battery device, a PCB and a first electrically conductive resilient member, the housing body or the cover being disposed with an air intake mouth; and the PCB having a pressure and temperature detecting device. The air intake mouth guides air inside the tire to flow into the airtight chamber. The pressure and temperature detecting device detects the pressure and temperature of the air inside the tire and transmits data to the microprocessor for processing. The microprocessor controls the transmitter to transmit a signal. A receiver disposed near a driver's seat receives and processes the signal and then displays the tire pressure and temperature value on a display.

  • Patent number: 7549329
Abstract: A tire pressure detecting valve stem has a case, a body and a tire pressure detector. The case is rectangular and has an inner surface. The body is a valve stem and is integrally and transversely mounted on the case and has an inner section and a center pin. The inner section is integrally mounted in the case. The center pin is conductive, is coaxially mounted in the inner section and protrudes from the inner surface of the case. The tire pressure detector corresponds to and is mounted on the inner surface and is electronically connected to the center pin. Because the case is integrally and compactly mounted on the inner section of the body, the case will be mounted on and stay close to a rim when the body is mounted through the rim.

  • Patent number: 7549330
Abstract: A tire and wheel rim assembly includes a tire supporting rim having an outward facing mounting surface; a tire mounted to the rim positioning an internal tire cavity over the rim mounting surface; a passageway extending through the rim for communicating air pressure between the tire cavity and a side of the rim opposite the tire cavity; and means for controllably regulating the flow of air through the passageway. A connecting member such as a bolt may extend through the rim outside mounting surface to affix a tire pressure monitoring housing to the rim and the axial passageway through the rim may be an axial bore through the bolt. Regulation of air flow through the passageway may be effected by setting the diameter of the passageway sufficiently small; or incorporating a needle orifice in the passageway; or incorporating a porous insert body into the passageway. The insert body may be composed of sintered metal and may be fused to the internal sidewalls of the bolt.

Abstract: A first trigger unit and a second trigger unit output trigger signals to transceivers disposed for the four wheels of a vehicle. The first and second trigger units are attached to wall surfaces of tire housings corresponding to the left front and left rear wheels respectively. Each of the first and second trigger units is arranged in a position of the wall surface having an angle from 5 to 25 degrees with respect to the side of the corresponding wheel. Transceivers attached to a right front and right rear wheels are thus located farther from the trigger units than the left front and left rear wheels, respectively. Such arrangement allows the transceivers attached to the right front and right rear wheels to receive the outputted trigger signals with sufficient accuracy due to high field strength.

Abstract: A tire valve unit is secured to a securing hole provided in a rim of a wheel of a vehicle. The tire valve unit includes a tire valve and a tire sensor. The tire valve includes a valve stem and an elastic cylindrical member encompassing the valve stem. The elastic cylindrical member has an annular securing groove in an outer circumferential surface of the elastic cylindrical member. A portion of the rim around the securing groove is fitted in the securing groove when the elastic cylindrical member is passed through the securing hole. The tire sensor is fixed to the valve stem. The tire sensor is arranged in the interior of a tire attached to the rim and capable of detecting the condition of the tire when the tire valve unit is secured to the rim. The elastic cylindrical member defines an annular space around the valve stem. The annular space extends from a position corresponding to the securing groove in an axial direction of the valve stem to communicate with the interior of the tire.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a tire pressure sensor assembly that includes a battery and a printed circuit board (PCB) configured with electronics to measure tire pressure and to transmit an electromagnetic signal related to the measured tire pressure. The PCB and battery are contained in a housing that allows the PCB and the battery to be angularly oriented with respect to each other. Such orientation permits the sensor to conform to the curved surface of the rim. An embodiment of the disclosed tire pressure sensor assembly is adapted to fasten to a valve stem via a metal terminal. The attachment configuration permits the valve stem assembly to deform as the valve stem is installed in a rim and also allows the valve stem to function as a portion of the antenna structure to facilitate transmitting the RF signal to a receiver.
