Spur Gears Patents (Class 74/375)
  • Patent number: 4287781
Abstract: Transmission with double friction clutch, especially transmission for agricultural and/or vehicles for the construction industry, with two gear shifting groups, each one of which can be shifted by means of an associated clutch, with the groups being shiftable under load. One of the clutches is engaged by being spring-biased and engageable by means of a selectively acting pressure medium adapted to operate one or several cylinder/piston units. The effective operating surface of the pertaining piston is greater than the operating surface of the piston associated with the second clutch. The cylinders are connectible in such a way that on each piston in each shift position thereof the same shifting pressure is exerted.

  • Patent number: 4287791
Abstract: A power transmission unit for automotive vehicles includes a change-speed mechanism, a final drive gearing and a differential gear unit assembled within a casing, the change-speed mechanism having an input shaft drivingly connected to an engine by a friction clutch assembly, and the final drive gearing connected to an output shaft of the change-speed mechanism to drive the differential gear unit. The input shaft is in the form of a torsion bar to reduce torsional rigidity of the drive power train, and a friction member is provided to restrain twisting vibration of the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 4279178
Abstract: A power transfer case for a four wheel drive land cruiser is altered to provide overdrive capability. A main drive gear is journaled for rotation about a main drive shaft driven by the vehicle transmission system. The main drive gear includes an axially extending hub section. A direct drive gear is splined onto the main drive shaft, as is an overdrive driving gear. An overdrive idler gear provides a mechanical speed advantage and is engaged with an overdrive driven gear that is journaled for rotation about the main shaft. A shift collar is splined in continuous engagement with the hub section of the main drive gear, and is longitudinally shifted to alternatively effectuate splined engagement with either a direct drive gear or with an overdrive driven gear. The vehicle is provided with four wheel overdrive drive capability without axial relocation of any of the major structural drive line supports or assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4212210
Abstract: A multi-speed transmission having an H-pattern shift has parallel output and intermediate shafts. An input shaft is connected to the intermediate shaft which has a gear connected to a reverse gear on the output shaft. The output shaft has first, second, and third forward gears, the reverse and forward gears having notches. The intermediate shaft has three gears connected to the forward gears. The output shaft has slots under the forward and reverse gears, the collars being movable in either direction from a neutral position. One slot has a key connected to one collar and extends toward the reverse gear engaging a notch therein in one position, the key having a portion extending toward the forward gears engaging a notch in the first gear in the other position of the collar. The other collar surrounds the portion of the key.

  • Patent number: 4073198
Abstract: In a device such as a spectrophotometer with an associated chart recorder in which the speed ratio between a first displaceable member and a second displaceable member may be selectively changed within a predetermined range of speed ratios, in a first embodiment of invention which is mechanical in nature, a number of gear trains in constant mesh with each other are provided to obtain the different speed ratios. Each of the gear trains has associated therewith a rotary disc with circumferentially even spaced apertures, the gear train obtaining an input from the first displaceable member by means of arms rotatable concentric with the discs, the arms carrying a pin adapted to enter into positive engagement with any one aperture, the number apertures depending on the scale served by the associated gear train.

  • Patent number: 4038882
Abstract: An axially short, variable-ratio gear transmission suitable particularly for motorcycles has a first or input shaft, a second or output shaft, and a countershaft. First and second rotatable gears on the input shaft permanently mesh with respective first and second rotatable gears on the output and counter shafts. The first and second gears on the countershaft are permanently connected for joint rotation, a first coupling permits one of the two gears on the first shaft to be coupled to the first shaft, and a second coupling similarly may couple one of the gears on the second shaft to the latter.
