Tool Rocks Cutting Reciprocations Patents (Class 83/779)
  • Patent number: 6892615
Abstract: A frame saw for sawing a relatively thick piece of wooden feed stock simultaneously into a plurality of thinner pieces of wood, and including a feed assembly for continuously feeding the stock from an upstream input position to a downstream output position, and a plurality of closely spaced-apart parallel reciprocable saw blades positioned intermediate the input position and the output position for sawing the stock into thinner pieces of stock as the stock is moved by the feed assembly relative to the blades. A drive assembly is operatively connected to the blades for driving the blades in a reciprocating motion comprising alternate cutting and non-cutting strokes. A linear offset motion assembly is provided for moving the reciprocating blades alternately upstream and downstream into linearly-offset cutting and non-cutting positions relative to the stock.

  • Patent number: 6393957
Abstract: A scroll saw includes a rocker member and two rocker levers pivotally secured in a housing. The rocker levers each has a lateral leg and an extension. A saw blade is pivotally secured between the legs. Two links are pivotally secured between the rocker member and the extensions for forcing the rocker levers to move the saw blade up and down in the reciprocation action. A motor has a spindle coupled to the link via a cam and a bar and a beam for actuating the saw blade. The bar may be adjusted relative to the beam for adjusting the moving stroke of the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 6131498
Abstract: A reciprocating knife cutter for performing a cutting operation on sheet material is provided wherein the knife is not limited to reciprocation along a vertical axis. The cutter includes a guide which engages the knife, whereby the knife and guide are constrained to slide relative to one another along the longitudinal axis of the knife. The knife is reciprocated by an eccentric drive mechanism in a plane perpendicular to the drive axis of the mechanism, and the guide is pivotally mounted on the cutter so that the knife and guide remain in engagement as the knife is reciprocated. A sheet material cutting apparatus including such a reciprocating cutter is also provided. The invention also provides a knife sharpener for a cutting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4379362
Abstract: A mechanism for converting rotary motion to back and forth motion. The present mechanism is disclosed in conjunction with a jig saw having a blade mounted in a holder which is moved back and forth by a rotary eccentric. A stack of leaf springs is cantilevered on the frame of the saw and is attached rigidly to the holder to cause the blade to move in a substantially elliptical orbit.

  • Patent number: 4144638
Abstract: A stator wire-cutting machine for cutting and removing the wires from a pre-positioned electric motor stator, including a planar support for substantial alignment with the axis of the stator, a cutter disc and a kick-out disc, both rotatably mounted on the support, a cutting blade rotatably mounted on the cutter disc and a pointed puller bar similarly mounted on the kick-out disc, a pair of adjustable guides for aligning the cutting blade and the puller bar with the stator wires, springs for biasing the blade and puller against the guides, and an adjustable lever arm with connecting linkage for causing counter-rotation of the two discs. The cutting blade and the puller bar are rotatable with respect to the cutter disc and kick-out disc, respectively, at predetermined points during the counter-rotation of the discs. The positions of both discs can be adjusted within the support, for accommodating various sizes of stators.

  • Patent number: H1867
Abstract: The scroll saw disclosed herein includes a frame with a worktable for supporting workpieces, first and second blade clamps for clamping a blade therebetween, an oscillating mechanism disposed within the frame, the oscillating mechanism moving the first and second blade clamps in a direction along a substantially vertical axis, wherein one of the first and second blade clamps is selectively shiftable so that the blade is shifted to a selected angle from the vertical axis. Preferably, a cam is used to move one of the blade clamps.
