Cutting Strand Extending From Or Lying On Strand Or Package Support Patents (Class 83/909)
  • Patent number: 5131135
Abstract: The invention relates to a wire-removing device for units (7) consisting of two stacks standing closely next to one another and composed of a plurality of bales (11, 12, 13) arranged one on top of the other, each unit (7) being surrounded in one plane by a bundle (15) embracing all the bales and composed of a plurality of parallel individual wires. So that the removal of wire from the units (7) can be carried out fully automatically and at the same time in order to wind the wire bundle to form a coil, there is in the lower region of the unit (7) a wire-cutting means (18) which is combined with a wire-lifting means (3) for lifting the severed wire bundle (15). Furthermore, there is a gripping means (4) which grasps the wire bundle (15) on both sides of the wire-lifting means (3) and which brings it into a predetermined extraction position. The severed wire bundle (15) is grasped by a winding means, wound to form a roll and ejected from the device.

  • Patent number: 5105527
Abstract: A compressed wastepaper block fastened by a plurality of wires is placed on a working table, and deformed or bent arcuately on the working table. After the compressed wastepaper block is bent, wires exposed in a concave created by the bent compressed wastepaper block are gripped by a presser/wire clamp, and a cutter is thrust substantially centrally into a convex side of the compressed wastepaper block which is opposite to the concave, thereby to cut off the exposed wires. The wires thus cut off are then removed from the compressed wastepaper block.

Abstract: A paper sheet bundle processing apparatus. The apparatus receives a bundle of sheaves bound with large bands. Each sheaf within the bundle is bound with a small band. • Patent number: 5079826
Abstract: A roller conveyor supports a bale at a cutting and removing station. Side compactors and a top compactor compress the bale slightly for positioning it. The bale is pushed against a wire cutting channel in which a blade having a surface that protrudes into and forms a groove in the bottom surface of the bale is passed diagonally across the bale, with the wires springing into a recess in the blade. The blade continues to move, pulling the wire against the back wall of the recess until the wire exceeds its tensile strength and breaks. The bale is then lifted on pins so that a wire pulling blade can be moved also diagonally across the top of the bale. The pulling blade also has a forwardly inclined surface that pushes the bale down while allowing the wires to be captured in a recess in the blade. The blade is moved across the bale, capturing all of the wires and removing them from the bale. Another embodiment uses a turner to rotate the bale to cut and remove wires from adjacent sides of the bale.

The separator blade is attached to a carrier assembly for moving the separator blade between the first and second lead wires to separate the lead wires. A length adjustment assembly is operably associated with the separator blade for moving the electrical component relative to the separator blade to a relative position such that the first shearing edge of the separator blade is adjacent a point at which the one lead wire is to be cut. A cutter assembly is operably associated with the separator blade and has a second shearing edge thereon.

Abstract: A machine for cutting and removing cord or band from secured goods, having a portal stand to which a conveyer brings the goods secured by cord or band. A cross beam can be vertically adjusted and guided along uprights and suspended from two rope lines which are run over fixed pulleys and connected with a pulley block that is actively connected to a gear brake motor. To one end section of the cross beam is mounted an adjustable cutter unit and to the other an adjustable suction unit. Both units have each one spring-mounted movable feeler plate. To the feeler plate of the cutter unit is mounted a vertically positioned cutter head and to the feeler plate of the suction unit is connected a suction head that removes the cut securing agents.

Abstract: A strap cutter is secured to the top structure on an oil well casing and as the discharge pipe supporting a submersible pump is withdrawn, the cutting head of the strap cutter engages with and cuts the straps which secure the pump power cable to the discharge pipe. The strap cutter is manually guided into place but employs the upward motion of the discharge pipe string to supply the cutting force. The method comprises the use of the upward motion to accomplish the cutting step.

  • Patent number: 4304517
Abstract: A device for ejecting radar chaff comprising a magazine having a number of tubular cells in which chaff bundles are displaced towards an ejection end of the cell. The displacement of the chaff bundles is obtained by means of a plunger device which is longitudinally movable in each cell. Each plunger device is driven by a wire running from an attachment point on the plunger device to the ejection end, and therefrom to a driving wheel. The wire also drives a knife element. The knife edge of the knife element performs a cutting movement substantially longitudinally of the cell, the cutting movement preferably being rotational and in the opposite direction to the direction of movement of the chaff bundle.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for winding wire on a double flanged spool by means of a single spooler wherein the wire is automatically carried from a feed roller toward the spindle by grasping the free end of an endless wire, guiding the grasped end in an orbital path about a spindle, until a portion remote from the wire is grasped by another means adjacent to the spindle and wire is then caused to be cast from the other grasping means over the end flange of the spool and onto the spool itself. Thereafter the wire is wound about the spool after which, the wire is automatically grasped and cut from the spool by the orbital means so as to restart a new cycle of winding.

  • Patent number: 4261395
Abstract: A wind-up head which is in particular provided for unwiring bales in conjunction with a cutting apparatus, comprises substantially a cylindrical wire receiving portion which at its work end has at least one receiving slit for gripping the wire and is arranged between two wire guide slits. In order to permit that the wind-up head is able to grip and coil wire lengths without the aid of further apparatus and in particular is able to grip directly the wires still engaging a bale when using it for unwiring bales without the aid of a special lift-off apparatus, the wire receiving portion is formed as a hollow cylinder from the work end of which at least two helical slits start penetrating the cylinder wall. The hollow cylindrical wire receiving portion is surrounded at a distance by an external cylinder which has at least two helical slits likewise starting from its work end and having an opposite hand to the slits of the inner hollow cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4219914
Abstract: An arrangement for opening and cutting up packaging straps for scrap, in which a traveling frame moves transversely to a transport track. A cross beam with adjustable elevation has fastened to it a device for snipping and cutting up straps for scrap. A sensor determines the position of the package, of the packaging strap, of shears and shear blades. A control unit with preset control program switches the drives of the transport track, of the traveling frame, of the cross beam and of the device for snipping and cutting up for scrap, which is connected to the sensor. The shears have an extension forward of the lower shear blade with a blade-shaped pointed wedge, and drives for producing a nearly continuous force and for producing impacts attached to the shears. The wedge-shaped extension may form an acute angle with the package surface; this angle is adjustable relative to the package surface via a fulcrum.
