    Abstract: This invention relates to a semiconductor memory element with two field effect transistors and an arrangement in which these elements are utilized. In accordance with the invention, a field effect transistor, transfer transistor T.sub.t is provided with a memory gate for the information memory, such memory gate being directly connected to a drain/source region of a second field effect transistor, the charging transistor T.sub.L, both transistors T.sub.t and T.sub.L are connected with the write line, the second electrode of transistor T.sub.t is led to the operating voltage U.sub.E, and the capacitors C2 and C2.sup.x are linked to the word line from the gates of transistors T.sub.t and T.sub.L, thus obtaining a memory unit of a higher degree of integration but unimpaired readability, exceeding heretofore known reading speed.

    Abstract: Nematic liquid crystalline mixtures, which can be used in optoelectronic components. Compounds are provided which influence the characteristics of mixtures in the direction of high clarification temperatures at simultaneous favorable switching times. It has been found that compounds of the general formula ##STR1## wherein n, m=1 to 10 in nematic mixtures in quantities of 5 to 40% considerably increase the clarification points without significantly increasing the viscosity, so that favorable switching times are obtained. The new mixtures can be used for the production of optoelectronic components (displays) for watches, computers and other devices.

    Abstract: The orientation of a thermotropic LC volume is achieved by means of thermotropic LC molecules firmly bonded chemically to a matrix. The orientation takes place due to the physical and chemical properties of the LC volume, chemically bonded to the matrix on the disordered LC volume. Hydrocarbon polymers or organosilanes are used as the matrix, to the functional groups of which the thermotropic liquid crystal molecules, which also have functional groups suitable for bonding to the matrix, are chemically linked. The chemically linked thermotropic LC may be a nematic, cholesterinic, discotic or smectic LC, with which nematic, cholesterinic, discotic or smectic LC volumes can be oriented. The matrix is chemically bonded covalently to the substrate surface and may be colored due to additional coupling of reactive dyes.
