  • Patent number: 8988847
Abstract: The invention concerns environmentally compatible methods and apparatuses for local modification of atmosphere, and in particular, for causing precipitation, dissipating fogs and/or clouds, removing air-pollutants in a target area. SUBSTANCE: the method involves applying air ionizers (1a, 1b, 1c) to generate ion flows into atmosphere to form convective flows and/or spatial charges. To control characteristics of the ion flow, it is proposed to use one or multiple air ionizers (1a, 1b, 1c) provided with variable-inclination electrode working cells. EFFECT: wide application of an air ionizer (1) with variable layout (inclination angle) of the electrodes in weather condition modification over a target area.

  • Patent number: 6045089
Abstract: A Satellite Weather Modification System (SWMS) uses earth satellites to harness solar energy to modify the thermodynamics and composition of the earth's atmosphere. SWMS has three subsystems: The first subsystem includes a network of earth satellites called Satellite Engines (SEs) used to reflect solar energy and/or transform solar energy into other forms of energy beams discharged at specified locations. The media at these locations and the media through which the energy beams pass absorb these energies and change them into heat. The second subsystem includes a large network of Remote Sensing Devices (RSDs). These sensors are used to measure local media compositions, dynamic parameters and thermodynamic properties. Sensor measurements are fed back to the third subsystem, which includes a network of Ground Control Stations (GCSs). GCSs provide energy beam guidance by estimating each beam's characteristics and its aim point trajectory as functions of time.

  • Patent number: 7484973
Abstract: A weather-resistant cover for an electrical connection box is constructed of a resilient elastomeric material. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the elastomeric cover is immovably sandwiched between an outlet face plate and an electrical receptacle and the box to which the receptacle is secured. The cover prevents moisture and airborne particles from getting into the connection box. Self-closing slots cut into the elastomeric cover are in alignment with the prong opening in the electrical receptacle. An electric plug may be plugged into the receptacle by inserting the plug's prongs through the slots in the cover and into the receptacle. When an electric appliance is plugged into the device, a seal is formed between the face of the plug and the elastomeric cover. When the plug is removed, the slots in the cover automatically close due to the elastic memory of the resilient material of which the cover is made.

  • Patent number: 5208601
Abstract: An all-weather aircraft landing system includes a plurality of ground based passive 90.degree. dihedral reflectors for producing two-bounce reflected signals without ground reflections, and an airborne radar system which may transmit and receive "same sense" circularly polarized radiation, while completely rejecting "opposite sense" polarization returns or else utilizing them to indicate weather conditions. Radar clutter from objects such as rain, buildings and trees which produce opposite sense reflections are rejected by the "same sense" receiver or switched to an "opposite sense" receiver to provide weather/obstacle condition information. By properly orienting a plurality of 90.degree. dihedral angle reflectors of a particular size in a predetermined array pattern and tilt-angle adjacent a runway, the reflections from airborne radar signals are processed and displayed to provide a visual means for determining glide slope deviation and approach vector of the landing aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20190307080
Abstract: Heat storage of the sea is increased during the summer time by pumping relatively warmer surface water with wave-action pumps to the deeper layers with relatively cooler water. In locations where currents are minimal in these deeper layers, the lateral displacement of the warmer water introduced by wave-inertial pumps will be minimized. During the winter season, this additional heat will intensify evaporation from the sea, which will increase precipitation in the nearby continental zone. This “natural desalination process” using the energy of surface waves will bring additional freshwater to arid coastal areas during wintertime.
