Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for applying a design on a medium. In some embodiments, the system includes a letterpress assembly having a base and platen that may be configured in an open configuration and a closed configuration. In the open configuration, the base receives the medium and the platen receives a printing plate. The printing plate may include the design to be applied to the medium. A roller assembly may then receive the letterpress assembly in the closed configuration and may exert a compressive force on the letterpress assembly. The compressive force brings the medium into contact with the printing plate and applies the design on the medium.

Abstract: The invention provides an integrated inkpad and embosser which serves to apply ink and emboss simultaneously the surface of a document. The device applies ink to only the embossed areas of a document. Thus perfectly rendering the seal easily visible on originals and copies. Positioned on the distal end of the unit is a set of two embossing plates which emboss and ink a document when the jaws of the plates are squeezed together. The novel feature taught by the present invention is the inclusion of an inkpad positioned on the bottom of the upper jaw so that ink is applied to the surface of the document when the jaws are squeezed together. The inkpad is covered with a surface having openings to allow the flow of ink selectively to the tops of the embossed characters.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for keyboard pad-printing and a method thereof for printing on the contact surfaces of keys of a keyboard in order to form a protective film layer with clamped-pattern peaks and valleys on each of the keys of the keyboard. The apparatus comprises a clamped-pattern printing board and a pad-printing module. The clamped-pattern printing board has a roughened surface on which clamped-pattern peaks and valleys are provided, and the pad-printing module has a plurality of pads. The invention forms a protective film layer on the contact surface by pressing the pad-printing module onto the roughened surface with the protective coating thereon, and then pressing the pads onto the contact surfaces, so that the protective film layer protects the symbol pattern on the key, and the cost and flaw rate of the keyboard pad-print are both reduced, thus simplifying the manufacturing process.

  • Patent number: 6227106
Abstract: A motor driven seal device for impressing a design permanently on paper using a seal clip assembly including a male die and matching female counter from a new or existing manually operated seal. The invention incorporates a motor with housed gearing which operates a drive rod and compression sleeve. A frame extends from a base (or platen) onto which the motor is mounted. The motor shaft drivingly engages the drive rod which extends from the motor toward the platen. A compression sleeve capable of travel along the length of the drive rod in response to rotation of the drive rod engages the drive rod adjacent the platen. The seal clip is inserted between the compression sleeve and the platen. Rotation of the drive rod by the motor advances the compression sleeve toward the platen thereby pressing the die of the seal clip into matching engagement with the counter. A piece of paper inserted between the die and counter of the seal clip during this operation is embossed with the indicia contained on the die.
