Abstract: A method for controlling a hydraulic servo steering system in a vehicle includes reading out a collision warning signal to establish that a collision assistance case exists, and in response to determining that the collision assistance case exists, providing a hydraulic fluid by a hydraulic pump of the servo steering system. Serving for steering assistance has an actual volumetric flow-rate that is greater than or equal to a minimum volumetric flow-rate. The method additionally includes increasing a pump speed if the actual volumetric flow-rate is less than the minimum volumetric flow-rate, the pump speed being dependent on an engine/motor speed of a drive engine/motor interacting with the hydraulic pump.

Abstract: The disclosed is a derailment protection apparatus that may comprise a wheel guiding member or a rail contact member having an inclined surface, a descending device to descend the wheel guiding member or the rail contact member, and wherein the inclined surface comes in contact with a rail, when the descending device operates. The derailment protection apparatus may return a wheel of a rolling stock to be deviated from a rail to a normal position, when the rolling stock with a bogie receives an abnormal vibration due to such as earthquake.

  • Patent number: 7165497
Abstract: The invention provides longitudinally extending track support and track members for a mobile storage unit. The track support's upper surface has at least one protrusion which projects above and extends longitudinally along that upper surface. A mating recess extends within and along the track member's under surface. The recess and protrusion are sized and shaped for loose-fit longitudinal engagement of the protrusion within the recess when the track member is laid atop the track support. This permits limited transverse movement of the track member with respect to the track support, reducing susceptibility of the mobile storage unit's wheels to derailment if a transverse force is applied to mobile storage unit as it rolls along the track.

  • Patent number: 7090556
Abstract: A toy vehicle for a guided motor-racing circuit has a guiding groove and conductor rails adjacent thereto. A keel pivotably mounted on the vehicle engages the guiding groove to aid vehicle guidance. A magnetic device magnetically interacts with the conductor rails to provide additional retaining force for holding the toy vehicle on the track. One end of a rocker is pivotably fixed to the vehicle. The magnetic device is positioned on the rocker at a distance from the pivotable connection. If the vehicle moves off course by pivoting along its longitudinal axis about the keel, the rocker pivots in an opposite manner relative to the vehicle, so the magnetic device remains on the circuit adjacent the rails such that even if the toy vehicle moves off course, a magnetic force of attraction remains between the magnetic device and the conductor rails.

Abstract: To lubricate a length of track, a plurality of lubricating nozzles are provided. Each nozzle is fed by the output of a single positive displacement pump, and all the pumps are controlled by a computer. Vibration sensors, sound sensors, or L/V ratio sensors detect physical qualities which occur as a train passes a given point, and another detector measures the time between successive wheels on the truck of a car as it passes a given point to measure train speed. The computer compares the output readings measured by the detector to a table of outputs in its memory that are indicative of a lubricated track to determine if lubrication is needed.

Each enclosed rail has an electrical bus bar for supplying power to vehicles on the guideway. The guideway will accommodate dual-mode vehicles that are capable of usage on conventional streets as well as on the guideway. The guideway also accommodates conventional vehicles and ferries that operate only on the guideway. The dual-mode vehicle has a body with axles that are extensible. The axles move from a retracted position, with the wheels recessed within the wheel wells, to an extended position. In the extended position, the wheels locate within the enclosed rails. Conventional vehicles and freight are carried on ferries that move along the guideways.

  • Patent number: 6644213
Abstract: A mobile carriage system includes a pair of spaced, parallel end rails fixed to a support surface, often with one or more intermediate rails fixed to the support surface and located parallel to and between the pair of end rails. At least one carriage is supported for movement on the end and intermediate rails. The carriage includes an elongated frame that spans all of the rails. At least two drive units, each including a pair of wheels and supporting the carriage on a different one of the rails are provided. The drive units are operatively connected to a drive shaft which extends across a plurality of the rails. The drive shaft and each of the drive units are coupled by a drive gear on the shaft which has a first effective diameter and a driven gear on the drive unit, which has a second effective diameter substantially greater than the first effective diameter. Thus, the drive units minimize torsion twisting of the drive shaft during use.

Abstract: An elevated transit vehicle (12) is mounted on vertical wheel supports (16) which operate in curbways (40) along public streets (24). The height of the passenger cab (12) is great enough to permit conventional passenger cars (32) to move beneath the transit vehicle. The curbways block movement of passenger vehicles (32) into the space (46) between the curbways except at traffic intersections where the curbways terminate. The elevated transit vehicle operates across traffic intersections without the aid of the curbways, and other smaller passenger vehicles (32) can enter or exit from between the curbways (40) at these gaps between segments of the curbways. An inter-modal version of the transit vehicle utilizes both the wheel assemblies and a suspended railway (74) which carries the transit vehicle on rail wheels.
