Retractable coupling and mated coupling on opposing ends of the vehicles provide multiple degrees of freedom (DOF) to accommodate misalignment during initial dynamic engagement, and lock as rigidly coupled assembly with zero DOF. Mating vehicles' doors open during transit, permitting inter-vehicle movement and consolidation of passengers en route to urban locales, and release of empty vehicles. On return, independent vehicles combine to dense passenger vehicles from urban locales for redistribution of passengers in individual vehicles that later separate for diverse destinations.

A tie (10) is provided for extending from each anchor point (12) to its associated draw mechanism (14), and each mechanism is operable to draw its respective tie from an anchor point around a pylon thereby urging the fender (4) against both pylons. In the mooring process, the craft is first steered to the boat landing to engage the fender (4) against the pylons (6), and the ties (10) are withdrawn from each draw mechanism (14) and taken around one of the pylons. Each tie is then attached to an anchor point (12) on the craft, and the mechanisms (14) are activated to draw the ties (10) around the pylons to urge the fender (4) against them.

The natural gas is transferred from the barge to a tugboat or a towboat that is equipped with natural gas burning engines through a flexible gas transfer assembly so that the tugboat is powered by the natural gas fuel. The pressure in the cargo tank(s) on the barge is, therefore, effectively managed to prevent or substantially reduce the buildup of pressure within the LNG cargo tank(s). The LNG can then be contained within the LNG cargo tank(s) for an appropriate period of time and can be delivered at an appropriate and acceptable equilibrium pressure and temperature.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a pontoon boat adapted to receive a personal watercraft for propulsion thereof. In an exemplary embodiment, the pontoon boat includes a multilevel decking defining an open bay area for receiving the personal watercraft. The multilevel decking includes a rigid support frame, a floor, at least one deck, and a front panel opposite the open bay area that extends from the floor to the deck. One or more flotation elements are releasably secured proximal the floor. A continuous surface, such as one defined by a diaphragm, is secured to the floor adjacent the open bay area. The continuous surface cooperates with the floor and the front panel to inhibit a rearward flow of cavitated water.

Coupling units mounted on the opposite sides of the tug have extendable and retractable rams which engage with channels on the opposite sides of the stern notch. Each ram includes two portions. The first portion can be non-rotatable and is extended and retracted by an actuator screw driven by a motor. The second portion can rotate relative to the first portion. Additionally, the second portion is capable of axial movement relative to the first portion. A load cell can be positioned between the first portion and the second portion to provide axial extension of the second portion to provide sufficient engagement force to couple the tug and barge.

    Abstract: A flotation device carries two or more people down a waterslide on shaped flotation tubes, coupled by flexible straps into a train. The bows and the sterns of adjacent buoyant bodies are complementarily shaped, preferably the bow being circularly convex and the stern concave as viewed in plan. The straps hold the bow and stern together at a minimal gap, constraining relative rotation by the convex/concave engagement of the bow and stern. In addition, lateral shoulders on the bow abut against the ends of the concave stern to prevent rotation beyond a predetermined angle, for example wherein the bodies in the train are relatively rotated to a bend having about a ten foot radius. This structure provides sufficient flexibility to traverse relatively tight turns in the waterslide course while preventing buckling or accordion-fold collapse when the train of buoyant bodies encounter an obstruction such as a splash down pool.
