  • Patent number: 10350625
Abstract: A nozzle pair (3, 6) is used to coat the side faces of spacers (1) for insulating glass with an adhesive material, the adhesive material being applied to the side face of the spacers (1) through the nozzles (15) of the nozzle pair. As the side faces of the spacer (1) are coated with adhesive material the nozzle pair (3, 6) is moved along the sides of the spacer (1), the relative movement between the nozzle pair (3, 6) and the spacer (1) being obtained by a movement of the spacer (1) and/or the nozzle pair (3, 6). With this way of working, there is no need to rotate the spacer (1) about an axis perpendicular to its plane and therefore the rotation can be dispensed with.

Abstract: An automated smear making apparatus used to prepare and smear samples on glass slides. In one embodiment, there is provided a smearing subsystem that generally includes a smear cartridge having: an input reel; at least one roll bar; a take-up reel; and a smearing tape. The smearing tape is initially wound within the input reel and coupled to the take-up reel such that the smearing tape can be drawn from the input reel and into the take-up reel. The smearing tape may include a plurality of perforations formed therein. The smearing tape may then be wrapped around the roll bar such that each of the plurality of perforations forms a blade that extends from the smearing tape to expose a smear surface as the smearing tape is drawn into the take-up reel. Alternatively, the smearing tape may be bent such that an edge of the smearing tape forms a smear surface between two roll bars. A slide transport surface is also provided to move a slide across the smear surface.

  • Patent number: 4917533
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus are provided for resurfacing recreational (e.g., tennis) courts and other surfaces. The apparatus includes self-contained drive means including drive wheels mounted on an elongated frame structure, and additionally supported for rolling movement on a plurality of casters. The apparatus is provided with flexible blade and brush elements for spreading and smoothing court resurfacing material uniformly across the surface. In a forward resurfacing direction, flexible squeegee-type blades, with or without associated brushes, engage the resurfacing material ahead of the device, while flexible brush elements engage the resurfacing material behind the device to erase tracks caused by the drive wheels and casters, and to effect final smoothing and texturing of the resurfacing material. The drive wheels may be moved into and out of ground engaging contact, and a steering device provides for lifting one or the other of the drive wheels out of ground engaging contact.

  • Patent number: 4831958
Abstract: An asphalt sealant material is heated within an insulated box-like container supported by a front caster wheel and a pair of thin disk-like steel side wheels. A push-type handle bar projects rearwardly and upwardly from the container which has an inner bottom wall sloping downwardly to a side discharge tube. A burner tube extends through a surrounding heater tube located within the lower portion of the container, and a heat exchange oil is confined within the annular space defined between the tubes. A propane fuel tank is supported by a platform projecting rearwardly from the container and is connected by a flexible hose to a nozzle located at the front or the rear of the burner tube. The rear of the burner tube connects with a vertical exhaust pipe, and the rear of the heater tube connects with an oil fill tube.

  • Patent number: 4789265
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for resurfacing one or more adjacent tennis court surfaces. An elongated, box-like frame structure, supported for rolling movement on a plurality of casters, is provided with flexible blade and brush elements for engaging, spreading, and smoothing court resurfacing material at a predetermined thickness as the structure traverses the court surface. In accordance with method aspects of the invention, the device is movable in one direction to resurface an entire tennis court, and after lateral movement to an adjacent second court area, reversible to move in the opposite direction to resurface an entire second court surface. For a given resurfacing direction, the flexible blade elements engage the resurfacing material ahead of the device while the flexible brush elements engage the resurfacing material behind the device to effect final smoothing.

  • Patent number: 4771499
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning and spray painting pole structures. The apparatus includes a carriage constructed to be upwardly and downwardly movable along the axis of the pole to be cleaned or painted. Mounted on the carriage is a carousel rotatably secured so as to revolve around the pole as the carriage moves upwardly and downwardly. The carousel may be provided with brushes for cleaning the pole or with a paint sprayer for applying paint. In one embodiment two pairs of rollers are located symmetrically with respect to the sprayer and the poles so that the rollers evenly apply the paint to the pole and simultaneously minimize overspray losses.
