Including Means To Apply Increased Tensile Force To Hair Patents (Class 119/618)
  • Patent number: 8720381
Abstract: A pet grooming tool includes a plurality of tine members and dematting members juxtaposed with one another along a shaft axis of a mounting shaft to be secured to a handle assembly. Each tine member has front and rear edge surface extending to join with each other to form a tine tip. Each dematting member has a dematting blade region extending to terminate at an inclined distal edge surface, and having a blade cutout portion which extends from the inclined distal edge surface to form a dematting blade tip that is disposed rearward from the tine tip for preventing injury to a user or a pet. The pet grooming tool will rake or comb a pet by means of the tine members while cutting tangles and mats of the undercoat of the pet by means of the dematting members.

  • Patent number: 8528501
Abstract: An improved pet grooming tool is provided for grooming pets and removing loose or detached hair from their fur coats, while removing substantially no or acceptably little live hair and without the need to include any blade portion for engaging the loose or dead hairs. The tool can also collect the removed hair as opposed to permitting most of it to fall to the floor. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the grooming tool includes an elongated handle portion having proximal and distal ends, a head portion at the distal end of the handle, and a carding portion on the head. A tool axis extends in a proximal direction from the head to the proximal end and in preferred embodiments of the invention, corresponds to the direction in which the tool is drawn across the animal's coat (the grooming direction). The grooming tool also has a plurality of tines, with a generally triangular shape when viewed from their sides or top, such that they narrow when extending from base to tip.

Abstract: A grooming tool that includes a de-shedding rake and a method for assembling the de-shedding rake and the grooming tool. The grooming tool includes a handle portion, and the de-shedding rake is operatively attached to the handle portion. The de-shedding rake includes an axle, a spacer block disposed along the axle and having a plurality of spaced-apart slots and a plurality of de-shedding blades disposed along the axle and within the spaced-apart slots. The use of a spacer block to separate the de-shedding blades significantly reduces the assembly time and cost associated with manufacturing the grooming tool. The invention also includes a method for assembling the de-shedding rake and the grooming tool. The grooming tool is particularly useful for the grooming of furred animals such as dogs and cats.

Abstract: A pet grooming tool, for use with a furry pet such as a dog or cat having loose hair and non-loose hair, is adapted for removing the loose hair from the pet. The grooming tool comprises a sharp edged comb with short tines mounted in front of an atrium open near the comb, and is also connected to a suction hose attached to a vacuum cleaner or similar. The comb is drawn through the pet's hair where it pulls loose undercoat and guard hairs, fleas, ticks, dander, and other items out of the animal's fur. When the tines are full, the comb is tipped on its trailing side and passed over a stripping pad or the animals hide. This pulls the hair mass out of the tines and deposits it at the entrance of the suction nozzle from whence it is whisked away by vacuum to a collection chamber.
