  • Patent number: 5786574
Abstract: A baseball bat warmer including an elongated cylindrical sleeve member that has a cylindrical side wall defining an interior cavity. The sleeve member is formed of a resilient material of two woven fabrics sandwiching an insulating padding. A vertical fastener releasable couples vertical edges of a vertical cut through the cylindrical side wall portion of the sleeve member. Included is a generally rectangular pouch that is open at a top edge and has a battery connector. The pouch is fixedly attached to the side wall of the sleeve member. Lastly, a battery housing is sized and shaped so as to receive a plurality of cylindrical batteries. The battery housing, with the batteries therein, is positioned within the pouch for coupling of a battery connector of the pouch with the battery connector of the housing. The batteries provide DC current to the heating wire.

  • Patent number: 5687705
Abstract: An aluminum baseball or softball bat warmer with an inner and outer container separated by an air space. The inner container is adapted to receive a bat and is supported inside the outer container on a hanger with an aperture. A convective thermal source is positioned below the hanger. Warmed air from the convective thermal source is directed through the aperture in the hanger and circulates through the air space, warming the sidewall of the inner container and the bat therein. By heating the aluminum bat, the possibility of cold denting and cracking thin walled aluminum bats formed of "CU-31" alloy, "C405" alloy or like, is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5276306
Abstract: A device for removing deer ticks and similar insects from a person's skin is disclosed. The device includes a heatable pointed needle and a spoon member located in spaced relationship alongside the needle with the bowl of the spoon facing the needle. The needle is used for poking the tick in order to cause it to retract its stinger and back off of the skin, at which point the tick may be removed in its entirety by scooping it with a spoon member located next to the hot needle. In a first embodiment of the invention, the needle and spoon member are carried on a body unit or base member in the form of a hand held gun, and the needle may be heated by an internal, self-electrical power source and heating element, or by a secondary heat source. In a second embodiment, the needle and spoon are mounted on a base member which may be attached to a flame-type cigarette lighter to heat the needle.

  • Patent number: 4654109
Abstract: A hand trowel device for particular use in roofing and like constructions is specially provided with an integral heating means. The heating means is adapted to continuously maintain the trowel blade at a temperature sufficient to plasticize or render flowable, preferably under applied pressure, the roofing compound or roofing cement employed. The roofing compound to be plasticized may be pre-impregnated in or otherwise integrated with the roofing sheet (or "felt") material being used in the roof covering or it may be separately provided for the purpose of independently sealing and waterproofing the roof covering material, particularly lapped edge or flashed edge portions of sheet roof covering material. Also, since it is a hand trowel, the trowel device is provided with a convenient hand gripping portion to facilitate lifting, carrying and manipulating the trowel during use and, in addition, an attached safety stand for supporting the hot or heated trowel in a rest position elevated above the roof surface.

  • Patent number: 3967614
Abstract: In an assembly of fusion furnace and fusion head for applying heat to plastic pieces to be fused, the furnace being fired with gaseous fuel fed through a conduit to a burner head in the furnace from a source of fuel, a temperature sensing probe projects into the furnace. The temperature sensing probe is operatively connected to a gas flow control device in the conduit from the source to the burner. The flow control device acts to throttle the gas flow, to maintain a predetermined variably selective temperature of the probe, from a high pressure, high rate of flow of gas to a low rate of flow of gas to the burner head. A fusion head block has a well in it to receive the temperature sensing probe when the fusion head block is in a predetermined heat-receiving position with respect to the burner head, the well being spaced from the burner head. The burner head is provided with a wire screen to ensure the maintenance of a flame at a reduced flow rate of the gaseous fuel.
