The first member (5a) is arranged on the first surface sheet (23A) on the side of a first opening (21) located at a first end in the longitudinal direction. The second surface sheet (23B) has a central region (M) in the width direction, where the plurality of slits is provided, and a pair of side regions (S) each of which is located on opposite sides of the central region (M). The second members (5b) are arranged in the pair of side regions (S), respectively, so as to extend in the longitudinal direction.

A loc of hair is inserted into a longitudinally contractible cylindrical hair tubes while the hair tube is in a lengthwise contracted or extended state. The loc of human hair extends lengthwise through the hair tube. The hair tube containing the loc of hair is permitted to return to the preformed state after insertion of the loc of hair. The hair tube is applied in the preformed state to allow natural hair growth to lie flat and straighten. The hair tube can be used as an adornment until the natural hair growth reaches a selected length. The process is repeated as needed for additional locs of hair.

Abstract: A hair protection, retention and styling apparatus has a triangular shape. The left and right base corners comprise hair protection flaps that extend from either side of a rectangular hair retention channel roll. A top hair retention flap extends from the top thereof to form the top corner. A cylindrical style bar is attached near the top of the triangular body. Once a user places her hair on the channel roll, the hair protection flaps are folded in over the hair, thereby containing, retaining, and protecting the hair. The ends of the user's hair are wrapped around the style bar and the top hair retention roll is wrapped over the bar and the hair and bar are rolled approximately to the user's scalp. First and second wrap ties attach near the top of the triangular body and are used to secure the apparatus to the user's head.

Application of the adhesive portion to a portion of the head of hair selectively and removably unites the sheet with strands of the portion of hair thereby brought into contact therewith. The sheet has a stiffening strip (180) operative to provide the sheet with longitudinal stiffness.

Embodiments include a retaining appliance having a base plate with a hooked fastener anchor strip attached to its underside and a pinked edge for picking of hair from underneath.

The one-end opening is openable and closable by operating the clip-type fixing member having been integrated with the tube.

Abstract: A hairdresser's masking aid allows for masking selected strands of hair from other strands of hair while the selected strands are treated. The masking aid comprising at least two panels of flexible sheet material which are capable of being hinged apart to receive the selected strands and subsequently brought together to envelop the selected strands. At least one of the panels comprises a substrate of a flexible and transparent plastics material laminated over at least part of its area to a metal foil substrate. The plastics substrate is laminated to the said metal foil substrate by a laminating wax so that the resultant laminated sheet is capable of being deadfolded in a similar way as non-laminated aluminum foil.

Abstract: A method for coloring hair using a hair coloring foil includes the following steps: providing a hair coloring foil that has a front surface and a top edge, first and second hair gripping hook strips positioned on the front surface of the foil adjacent to and in parallel with the top edge. The foil is positioned around a handle of a comb such it is positioned between the first and second hair gripping hook strips. The handle is pushed into the hair of a subject adjacent the roots of the hair, such that the first hair gripping hook strips grip a first set of hair strands by the roots, and the second hair gripping hook strip grips a second set of hair strands. A coloring agent is then applied to the second set of hair strands, and the foil is folded to enclose the second set of hair strands.

Abstract: A wrap curling device is disclosed which comprises a triangular or quadrilateral shaped, dual-sided pouch which further comprises a heat absorbent material. The heat absorbent material will preferably gain moisture from the air as it is heated. The exterior of the pouch is preferably constructed of a breathable fabric that is durable enough to withstand slight stretching and rolling after being heated for short periods of time. The wrap is capable of curling an entire head of hair at one time, without prior sectioning of the hair, and can be left in the hair and worn in a bun as a fashion accessory. A method of using the wrap is also disclosed.

The heat absorbent material substantially fills the cavity.

The tubular member is placed in a microwave oven for between 30 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds and is then placed in the individual's hair. The hair curler is removed from the hair after 20 to 30 minutes. The elongated tubular member is made from a decorative stretchy fabric and consequently the hair curler has the appearance of a decorative hair accessory. The curler can therefore be worn out in public thereby allowing the individual to style their hair while conducting other tasks.

Coloring is then applied, and the foil folded in half, retaining the hair within the folded foil.

Abstract: A device for use in hair treatment comprises a tube (10) having a wall constructed of elements (11, 12) extending in a direction inclined to the length of the tube, or a wall constructed of interwoven fibres (11, 12). As a result of its construction when the tube is contracted from an elongate state to a contracted state, the transverse dimension of the tube increases to permit insertion of a tress of hair through the tube. After insertion of the hair through the tube, the tube is extended which causes the transverse dimension to decrease and compress together the hairs of the tress. The tube is then manipulated into a desired form to thereby impart a required form to the tress of hair. The tube may be performed in the desired form and after insertion of the tress of hair is permitted to revert to the desired form. Restraints (521, 522) may be applied to the tube and hair contained therein and then the tube between the restraints is contracted lengthwise to cause the transverse dimension thereof to increase.

The hairdresser draws the tube (10) over his or her forefinger and winds the hair around the portion of the tube (10) between the end (10a) and the waist (14). Once fully wound, the open end (10b) is drawn “inside out” to secure the curl in place, without the need for the hairdresser to apply any manual gripping action. The permeability of the tube allows the administration of hair treatment products while the curl is in the secured position and, when treatment has finished, the tube is easily removed by drawing the rim (16) of the open end (10b) back over the treated hair curl.

Abstract: A device and method used for cold waving and straightening hair. The cold waving device helps create a natural sheen on the hair. The cold waving hair device includes a plurality of different size clear plastic hollow rods. The hollow rods have a smooth and soft outer circumference for receiving rolled hair thereon. The different size rods receive a standard hair roller therein. Each roller includes a hair engaging line which is received along the length of the rod. The hair engaging line includes an end cap for inserting into an end cap hole in the roller. The line is used for holding the rolled hair in place against the side and length of the outer circumference of the rod. The cold waving hair device also includes plastic end wraps with a plurality of holes therein. Each end wrap is used for engaging the hair ends and wrapping the hair around the smooth outer circumference of the rod. The end wrap is used for receiving a wave solution for saturating and relaxing the hair on the different size smooth rods.

It is designed to wrap tied hair in said heating part and to be held in place to keep the wrapping state by fastening said margin by means of a fastening means such as an elastic band, a string or a wire. A hair treating method of the present invention comprises wrapping tied hair with a hair warming tool of sheet form having at least one heating part while leaving at least the part of the hair near the roots unwrapped to warm the hair.

Abstract: An adjustable flexible hair curler including an elongated flexible strip having a generally rectangular configuration. The strip has long opposed side edges and short opposed end edges. The strip has a front surface and a back surface. The front surface and the back surface each is divided in a wide central section and a pair of narrow side sections. The narrow side sections of the front and back surfaces have corresponding securement means for coupling together when the strip is rolled into a cylindrical orientation.

Abstract: Long hair is curled by isolating each of the strands of hair that the subject desires to be curled; applying a curling agent to the strand at this point or later; placing a curling ribbon comprising a ribbon of fabric having three longitudinal stiffening wires adjacent the strand of hair and wrapping it around the strand to envelop the hair strand; securing the curling ribbon to the base of the strand; and then winding the ribbon-enveloped strand around a cylindrical curling mandrel. The mandrel is then withdrawn from within the coil without uncoiling the strand, and the process is repeated until all of the coils are made. After the setting or permanent waving agent has worked, the stiffened ribbon is removed and the hair is combed out. Alternatively, the ribbons may be allowed to remain in the hair as decoration.

Preferably the device comprises a base element (10, 50) secured to one end of the tube, an upper element (11, 51) secured to a second end of the tube and a body member (13, 52) located intermediate the upper element and the base element to locate the upper element relative to the base element and to provide a housing for the extendible tube (12, 60).

Abstract: A hair setting strip for retaining a plurality of strands of hair and thereby setting a retained plurality of strands of hair in a desired style, comprises a thin resiliently pliant base member in the form of a strip having greater length than width, opposed first and second faces, and a longitudinal axis. A layer of hair-retentive material is securely mounted on the first face of the thin resiliently pliant base member. The hair setting strip is bendable along the longitudinal axis to a plurality of curved configurations, and is thereby selectively formable to any of the plurality of curved configurations. The hair setting strip may be retained in any selected curved configuration, whereby the retained plurality of strands of hair will become set in the desired style.

Abstract: A device for permanently curling hair has a hair rod, a cap, and an optional elastic band for attaching the cap to the hair rod. The hair rod is formed as a cylindrical hollow body. A first and second end plates are positioned on respective ends of the body. A plurality of outwardly extending projections formed on an outer surface of the body between the first and the second end plates facilitate retaining of hair on the rod during the rolling process. The body has a pair of diametrically opposite elongated slots that help retain pieces of perm paper on the hair and the rod, and a plurality of openings extending through the body that facilitate free water and perming solution flow through the hair rod. The cap has a lengthwise slit, and is sufficiently resilient to permit the lengthwise slit to be selectively widened by hands to snap over the body to thereby closely encircle the body with the mesh cap.

Abstract: Presented are three embodiments of a hair curler including in one embodiment an apertured tubular member having an apertured felt-like layer secured to the tubular member. A flexible anchor pad having flexible hook-like protrusions is adhered to the felt-like layer diametrically opposite the abutting ends of the felt-like layer. An elongated paper-like strip is attached by one end portion to the felt-like layer, and may be wound about the felt-like layer in either direction so as to overlap the anchor pad. In a second preferred embodiment, the flexible felt-like layer is secured to only one half of the outer periphery of the tubular member. The remainder of the outer periphery of the tubular member is covered directly by a flexible pad having flexible hook-like protrusions for detachable attachment thereto of the elongated paper-like strip. After attachment, the elongated paper-like strip may be wound with a tress of hair about the tubular base member.

An attachment is mounted on the strip to connect the outer side of the strip with the overlapped inner side of the strip when in the coiled configuration and maintain the substantially circular shape. Depending on the point of connection of the attachment, coiled configuration can comprise various different diameters.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for performing treatment of hair, where an agent such as a reducing agent that acts chemically on the hair is used. The invention employs a flexible carrier material where the agent has been absorbed. The flexible carrier material is packaged in a damp state and stored in a moisture-tight package in the form of a continuous tape. In use, the package is opened and the tape is put into a use package. The carrier material is taken out in pieces of desired sizes from the use package. The invention further relates to a product system for performing treatment of hair, which system includes flexible carrier material packaged in a damp state as well as a moisture-tight package. The carrier material has been packaged in the form of a continuous tape in a moisture-tight package. The product system further includes a use package for dosing the carrier material.

Abstract: A permanent wave end paper comprising an absorbent paper impregnated with at least one pH indicator whereby, when a length of hair to be permanently waved is rolled with a strip of the permanent wave end paper, the strip of permanent wave end paper exhibits a chromatic indication of whether the strip of permanent wave end paper and the length of hair have been saturated with a permanent wave liquid chemical. The permanent wave end paper may comprise a high purity cellulose paper impregnated with a wet strength resin such as urea formaldehyde or melamine. The permanent wave end paper may be included in a kit for imparting a permanent wave to hair that comprises in addition to at least one strip of permanent wave end paper a permanent wave lotion and a permanent wave neutralizing agent.

The coatings are able to withstand repeated heat cycling. Application of heat from a heat source to the curler causes heat to flow into the curler, heating the resilient sheet and coatings. The thermal mass of these elements keeps the curler heated for some period of time after the curler is removed from the heat source. By rolling the sheet to form a cylinder so that a portion of the sheet overlaps another portion of the sheet, and clipping the two portions together with a clip such as a bobby pin or the like, the cylinder's shape may be established and held with relative ease and simple adjustability of cylinder diameter. For storage, the sheets may be completely flattened for storage or transport in a very minimal volume.
