  • Patent number: 11107295
Abstract: Examples herein describe systems and methods for aligning elements, such as conduit, ductwork, and plumbing within a computer-aided design (“CAD”) application. A plugin can provide an element alignment option on a graphical user interface (“GUI”) of the CAD program. An anchor point from which to align elements is selected in the GUI so that the plugin can choose locations within a structure to run multiple elements in parallel alignment. The system can recommend an alignment plane based on the slopes of the selected multiple elements and provide a direction for a run of the multiple elements. The systems retrieve the specifications and parameters of each individual element to determine its spacing among the run of multiple elements. The run of multiple elements is displayed and manipulated by the plugin via the GUI.

Abstract: Procedures include designing parameters for cementation jobs based upon the wellbore geometries and loading conditions. The cementation parameters such as Young's modulus are selected such that longitudinal crack propagation is inhibited. Procedures also include determining critical loading conditions for an already-cemented casing annulus based upon the specified cement properties and wellbore conditions. The critical loading conditions are determined such that longitudinal crack propagation in the cement is inhibited. Techniques are used to improve the friction coefficients between the casing and cement to inhibit longitudinal crack propagation. The treatments can include forming surface patterns that enhance friction and/or making the casing surface oleophopic and/or hydrophilic.

Abstract: A major challenge for the general use of “lab-on-a-chip” (LOAC) systems and point-of-care (POC) devices has been the generally complex and need for sophisticated peripheral equipment, such that it is more difficult than anticipated to implement low cost, robust and portable LOAC/POC solutions. It would be beneficial for chemical, medical, healthcare, and environmental applications to provide designs for inexpensive LOAC/POC solutions compatible with miniaturization and mass production, and are potentially portable, using compact possibly hand-held instruments, using reusable or disposable detectors. Embodiments of the invention address improved circuit elements for self-powered self-regulating microfluidic circuits including programmable retention valves, programmable trigger valves, enhanced capillary pumps, and flow resonators.
